I've recently stayed at the grand ideal the last week of sept. Me and my mam went to turkey for the first time for relaxing week away. First of all the hotel is beautiful it is very clean and tidy it is in a really good location, you can come out of hotel and you have lots of shops, restaurants and bars along the Main Street you can also jump on a bus which we thought were great either to go into marmaris centre or along to icmeler, however on arrival we checked into our room and our balcony faced onto the Main Street which was very noisy so we asked to move. The reception staff were ok but not the best of help they moved us to a better room. The rooms are very old fashioned and could do with getting refurbished also walls are paper thin! A lot of people say you not in your room a lot when you are away but it does make a difference it was definitely not a room you would expect in a 5 star hotel! Also the mini bar Only has 2 bottles of water and a few cartons of juice in and doesn't get stocked everyday, You need to keep your bottle of water as well to keep getting refilled you cant just go to bar and ask for a bottle. The pool area is decent but if you want a bed in a decent spot you need to be down crack of dawn. Now about the food there was always a wide variety of choice but the breakfasts were very sickly there is no bacon and the sausage is like rubber I had pancakes nearly everyday as could not stomach a breakfast. At dinner time we were going to the restaurant on the main floor which was really nice and the waiters always went out the way for you mehmet and mahmut always looked after us they were both really friendly and hard working. The first day we got there we used spa facilities which were amazing i would definitely advise anyone to get a Turkish bath and a full body massage it was one of the best things about the holiday and well worth the money, ebro was lovely and works very hard. If I returned to turkey I don't think I would stay in grand ideal as i did not think it was worth the money we paid and it was so cheap to eat out we went out for food most nights and never had a bad meal, the hotel food is very repetitive. One last thing the cafe de paris staff were very rude to a old man one night when he asked for a sandwich the staff would only give him one and the member of staff started swearing at him and stormed away which is not very nice to see and would hate to think someone spoke to my grandad like that at the end of the day it is supposed to be a all inclusive hotel I don't see why it's a problem if you want a few sandwiches you have paid for it. Hotel rep Beth was really helpful and polite she was always there during day and was always happy to help.
