“Great holiday! Fantastic staff!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2014 via mobile

We stayed at Melodi for 2 weeks in July. Very great holiday! We arrived first day and was greeted by JJ, Sabrina and Jacob. Lovely people. We felt very welcomed. They offered us something to eat as we have been travelling all night. Our room was nice and clean. We stayed round the pool most days and the staff were fantastic! We found the food and drink very reasonably priced. The staff went out of their way to make our holiday great. Murat is a very lovely person and makes the hotel great. Especially his Jeremy Kyle show! Bashar the manager is a great guy and made us feel welcomed the whole time. I would stay here again and would definitely recommend! Very lovely staff! As for the negative comments, I can't comment on these because we didn't experience any of this! Very good value for money!

In response to other reviews where people have not liked this hotel we think they must have been at another hotel as myself and my husband have just spent 2 wks at the Melodi from 28/06/14-12/07/14. We have had an amazing holiday. When we arrived we were greeted very nicely by Murat (Hamish) who checked us in and took our luggage to our room. The room was basic but very clean which was fine for us as noone goes on holiday to stay in their room for 2wks!! Our room had a great view of the sea and the waterpark as we were on the top floor. (room 504). There were no tea/coffee facilities in the room but this wasnt an issue for us as you can buy it by the pool if required. Regarding the air conditioning we can't comment on this as we didn't purchase it as we had taken our own desk fan however there is a charge for air conditioning if you wanted it. There were safes available for a charge at reception but this is worth it as all your items are secure. There were no issues with security in the hotel as on a few occassions we left our balcony door open and all our belongings were still safe. The pool was always very clean and there were plenty of sunbeds for the number of guests at the hotel. The only negative regarding the pool was that it is all on one level with no shallow end so if unable to swim or not a confident swimmer or have children just consider this however they do provide floats, lilos, and rubber rings if required. Regarding comments about breakfast; it was a traditional turkish breakfast which consisted of fresh bread, hard boiled egg, cucumber, tomatoes, cheese, jam, butter, honey, olives, watermelon and tea and coffee, If you thought this was repetitive then there was also the option to have a full english breakfast or other english items such as cheese on toast for which there is a small charge but worth it. We only stayed bed and breakfast so cannot comment on evening meal for half board option. We did sometimes have lunch by the poolside; there was plenty of choices available on the menu ranging from soup, chicken, pasta, chips and sandwiches which all of these are very reasonable and always freshly made and hot dishes always piping hot. Also if any special requirements the chef will accomodate this. Also for 8 TL you can pre-order sandwiches for the airport which is well worth doing as Dalaman airport is extremely expensive for food and drink. Now onto the staff - these work really hard to make the atmosphere very relaxed and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for any of them. Whilst we were here I became ill (nothing to do with the hotel) and Bash arranged for a doctor to come to the hotel for me. From then on Bash, Hamish and JJ were absolutely fantastic in making sure I was okay everyday and sorted out the food and drink requirements that the doctor had requested with no problems so a massive thank you to all of them. Entertainment at the hotel when provided was brilliant. It would consist of a few different shows ranging from music, comedy and Hamish doing his Jeremy Kyle show!!! Food is also provided but drinks are extra but the cost of the entertainment is very reasonable considering you are getting 5 shows and food. It was a really good laugh and definately well worth the money. The rooms were cleaned daily and the cleaner despite only having little english was always pleasant, cheerful with a smile on her face at all times. So overall our review of this hotel is excellent and we would definately recommend it for the location as you are 2 mins from sea front and restaurants and 5 mins to shops, ATM, supermarket and pharmacy. A big thank you to all the staff (Hamish,Bash, JJ, Jacob, cleaner) for making our holiday so enjoyable and dont know where all the bad reviews came from. If we were to return to Marmaris again we would definately consider staying at the Melodi and will also recommend to our friends and family.

From the lovely couple in room 504 (this is what Hamish described us as!!!!)

Room Tip: go for a higher floor as better views due to the waterpark however can be a little noisy if at the f...

We have stopped at the Melodi Hotel before so we just what to expect the rooms are as good as any otherTurkish hotels of the same star rating. The difference is the staff they are excellent from the ever smiling chamber maid to the entertainers on the Turkish night they work together to make your stay memerable.

Room Tip: most of the rooms are sea facing but the higher the floor the better the view

An old but clean and very friendly hotel. The staff went out of their way to ensure you had a good stay. One of the best hotels we have used in Marmaris over the last ten years and you get value for money. We hope to return in September.

When we arrived at the hotel the main door was locked there was no staff even looking out even though they knew we were coming! A nice family shouted to us to come round the side of the pool area! The staff seemed to speak very little English as didn't understand that we didn't like the idea of leaving our passports unsecured overnight. We got to the room and although it was basic it was clean. We had to guess what time breakfast was. We got up in the morning to find that all the bad photos we had seen on trip advisor seemed to come from our room! The light switch to the bathroom was broken leaving the mains exposed very dangerous!!!! There was not even any cover over the fuse box on the wall ! Now normally I wouldn't say anything bad about hotels as I normally like to give everyone and everything the benefit of the doubt but on this occasion it was so bad we didn't want to spend time there at all!!!!! And as we preferred to go out than stay in the staff were at best rude at worse ignorent for the first week! We were looking to move hotels but the ones with vacancies were just so expensive we decided to stay and just make the best of a bad situation, in our way of making an effort we decided to have a drink at the bar in the afternoon and a coffee before bed. As we were spending abit of money at the bar the bar staff started saying hello to us and smiling at is on occasion but this didn't make up for the rudeness!!!!!!

After the first 2 days our air con started leaking water all over my stuff on the desk. We went to tell the staff what was happening but we found they again either didn't care or couldn't be bothered to help us! We went down again and the managers father came to help us!

The only good things about this hotel is the cleaner and the managers father who works very hard all day long !

We loved marmaris but not the hotel.

The food well to say boring would be the nice way of discribing it! Breakfast was a sort of Turkish breakfast including bread, egg, watermelon cheese olives tomatoes and cucumber, it never changed same day in day out! Evening meal consisted of left over stale bread and soup only had 3 flavours on 2 weeks! Meal was no choice just something put infront of you. We never got told what it was! Very carb heavy always chips rice and mash with some sort of meat ????? What is was! On the second week we decided most days to eat out!

We were really looking forward to this holiday but I have to say if we didn't have friends in marmaris at same time we would have been so fed up with this hotel we would have rather come home!

I just returned from this hotel after staying 7 nights visiting my mother while she stays in Turkey. The room was very basic, a double and single bed and a bathroom. Now, there are some things I would complain about.... like the hot tap running cold and the cold tap running hot, lack of storage space to unpack or the electrical sockets literally hanging off the wall....

But I paid a total of £65 to stay here for an entire week at the end of June. I think for money paid, I got what it said on the tin so to speak!!!

The staff are friendly, when you agree with them! It stopped being quite so friendly when they realised I was staying visiting someone at a separate location. They would constantly question what I would be doing each day, then chastising me for not staying in the hotel. I really only booked as a place to sleep and keep my things, the temperature reached 43 degrees on some days, I don't want to be inside or by the tiny pool.

I was on the first floor, and can offer advice to anyone sensitive to loud noise not to accept a room this low or even stay somewhere further out of town as the whole place is surrounded by other hotels that all play loud music until late. I live in the center of Brighton, so I'm quite used to outside noise, but this was something else altogether.

I never ate in the hotel at all, not even the breakfast included in my stay. So cannot comment. It didn't seem as though many others were eating there as the restaurant area was always deserted.

The rooms were cleaned every other day, with towels replaced (Which, for such a cheap hotel, were fairly decent in quality)
Although some days I sent the maid away as they would come to clean around 5pm when I just wanted a shower or a nap. Seemed like an odd time to come!

Overall, I probably wouldn't want to stay again. There are much better hotels around but for the price it really did do the job.

Room Tip: High floor or different hotel!! Don't worry about a view, the beach is a minute away. Try for a...
