“GOOD HOTEL”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 June 2010

Hoel small and friendly, exceptionally keen, the staff cannot do enough to help. Buffet food good quality (all inclusive) but a little bit repetative. Nice omlettes /fried eggs cooked as you wait. Pool not recommended for non swimmers / small children. Excellent location away from Blackpool sorry I mean Marmaris. 40 minute walk to Harbour or Icemeler, cam recomment both. Excellent Thomson Rep no pressure just good advice. Family ranged from grand mums x2 & three children aged 9,9 &13 excellent relaxing location and hotel

My husband and I have just returned from a 2 weeks holiday at the Tropical Hotel. Everything was fabulous, spotlesly clean, the staff very friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent with plenty to choose from. Now blame the hotel for my weight gain he! he! We will definitely go back again. If I had to have a little moan, it would be about the beds being a little too hard for me, but everything else was just fantastic. I would advise people of any age to stay there, as they cater for everyone. Best Hotel Ever!!!!

Travelled from 10/05-24/05 staying 2 weeks all inclusive

"6 ADULTS AND 2 CHILDREN AGES 16MTHS AND 4YRS

FIRSTLY IF YOU HAVE READ THE PREVIOUS REVIEW DATED 24/05 FROM BRISTOL THEN PLEASE READ ON. We were there at the same time, bear in mind some people will maon about everything and anything - probable to try and get compo....

Yes there was a problem with the electrics at the pool side bar, things are done to a different standard than in England, As soon as the manager was told he had an electrician availalable to get this sorted. If your going to touch electrical items then get dried off from the pool first, I also experienced this shock, however extremely mild and more like a pins and needle like feeling from the metal utensils. It didnt happen again after it was sorted.

Having arrived a reception there was some confusion about the number of rooms we had booked and were only given 2 keys when it should have been 3 however the staff were plesant and this was corrected immediatly.

The room were very cleaned and towels changed every other day, however a little small when we had a cot also in the room, the beds quite hard although all new matress's were fitted the beginning of the week to all beds within the hotel. Mini bar in the room was not all that cold and only stocked with water every other day but no problem getting more from the maids if you needed it.

Food and drink:

Having stayed in Turkey twice before, once again we found the food good, salads, fresh cheese's, cold meat, fresh bread and soups and wonderful desserts each day at dinner and lunch time, along with a a selection of hot meals such as: roasted chicken breasts, spagetti bolognase, shepherds pie, chips, pasta, roast/boiled potatoes, kebabs, burgers, there was always something different to eat and it appeared that for being a hotel that has only been all inclusive from this season, they are making a massive effort.

breakfast and snacks
Once again a selection of fried, boiled, scrambled cooked fresh outside, german sausage, cooked tomatoes, egg bread, cereals , preserves and choc spread, fresh bread, coffee, apple tea, tea, lemon t, orange and mango juice to help yoursefl whenever always on offer. YOU WILL NOT GO HUNGRY HERE, The poolside snack bar served chips, burgers, sometimes, fish fingers and chicken nuggets and dippers, fresh salads and filled crepes every day. I have never eaten english food at a turkish hotel so once again a massive effort is being made,

Drinks
vodda, gin, beer, lemonade, pepsi, fanta ( proper soft drinks), juice, wine tonic t tea and coffee all included, every thing else you have to pay for if you want it, between 5-10 lira (2.20-4.50- a drinks and cocktails at 10lira.

Staff
The restaurant manager Adam is very pleasant and is happy to help in any way - even travelled into the town to get us something we needed and would ask in the evenings if everyone was ok and having a nice time.
The waiters were wonderful and love the children, Very friendly and again make a massive effort.

IF YOU WANT TO GO TO TURKEY AND ARE CONCERNED ABOUT THE FOOD AND ARE EXPECTING BURGERS AND CHIPS AND SAUSAGE AND BEANS THEN GO TO SPAIN, turkish people do not eat this food and you'll be lucky if its served in any all inclusive restaurant.

All in all a wonderful holiday and very good value for money - no complaint what so ever. If you are booking with Thomson/first choice then the rep at the Hotel Steve is available 3 times a day at least so you will never feel like you looking for somone, he's fab and a good laugh also with no pressure to buy from him.

The pool
very clean and not too cold the children pool i thought could have been a little bigger and the steps to get in are of a rock effect so sometimes a little slippy for tiny toes.

Having stopped in many Turkish Hotels I would class this as one of the better one's, It is ideally situated between Marmaris and Ichmeler. Rooms are clean and beds are changed daily. The food is of a very good standard although there is a fair bit of turkish cuisine. (which we dont mind).

On the down side the beds around the pool are always reserved and mainly by the English, If you go to the private beach you have to pay for a mattrees for you sunbed (3 lira). The beds are quite frim but ok, and new matress's were deliveredn our second day.

Plenty of bars withinn walking distance if you wish to venture out. All in all a good hotel.

Having booked my one and only yearly holiday well in advance I was looking forward to all that awaited me. What a surprise I got, and not a nice one! First Choice rate this hotel as a 4 star plus and All Inclusive. It will be easier to list the bad points and the good points.
GOOD POINTS: Great Sea View, nice pool & ideally situated for Marmaris & Icmeller.
BAD POINTS (there are many!): Mini Bar means a fridge that does not work with 2 small bottles of WARM water in only (all fridges in hotel are the same), Beach is manmade with course, dirty builders grit for sand. Food quality OK, but as usual in any buffet style restaurant, things get recycled. Restaurant manager very rude. Dont ask for 2 eggs for breakfast as you will be told that you are fat!! All communal area's such as outside dining and bar area, filthy and never washed down. I got electrocuted 2 times at the pool snack bar. This had still not been sorted out when I left, 2 weeks later.
This is just a few of the bad points, as there were too many to mention. It should never have been rated as a 4star plus. It barely reaches 3 star quality.
I have never felt the need to review a holiday before, but felt on this occasion new visitors should be warned.

We travelled with one 13 year old and we did think the hotel was dated at first. All the rooms are at the back of the hotel, so everyone has a fabulous view over the bay which was really breathtaking, even at night. It was thankfully quiet in comparison to some hotels which were nearer to Marmaris and so close to the bars you would never sleep at all. You can walk down to the bars in 10 minutes. The 'Talk of the Town' show sold to us by the rep was awful, bad food and seedy place, but a laugh if you like drag queens! There were a lot of eastern europeans but in fact the only badly behaved ones were British who put their towels out on the sunbeds before midnight! The food was good, the waiters friendly but beware the hotel reception who gave conflicting information at times and had poor english. We were half board and I think that the atmosphere will change a lot next year when it becomes all inclusive.
