I stayed here on 28th june 2011 with my two friends. If you go bed and breakfast you will not get a fridge/kitchenette in your room. However self catering you get a full kitchenette in the 2nd bedroom, which is partioned off from the main room leading to balcony. the pool was really big compared to the others in marmaris. the location of the hotel is fab, 5 minutes from the beach/cheers bar/VIP bar etc. I wouldnt stay here again simply because there was no internet or evening entertainment which even the most basic 2 star hotels in marmaris have, I travelled to marmaris every year. bottled water and food is cheaper in the shop around the corner to the right of the hotel. the angels inn is must do, free internet and 25tl for a turkish night with 5 course meal and 1 free drink. (over the road) if like me you have found this holiday for £200pp its well worth it. i wouldnt pay any more though, it is very basic. the cleaner was lovely, rooms were spotless every day, she even makes patterns with the bedsheets. We gave her a bottle of wine before we left as a tip and she was very greateful. I wouldnt reccomend this to familes with young children as theres nothing for kids to do. Couples and groupd would have a fab time!

Room Tip: request pool view

We stayed at the Soykan hotel week commencing the 28th June. At first we didn't know what to expect of the hotel as we booked the holiday at the last minute, with the Soykan being the cheapest accomodation avaliable, and providing it was clean and had a nice pool my girlfriend and I weren't too fussy.

Admittedly, my first impressions of the hotel were slightly tarnished by my experience of the first night. We arrived at 3am so there was no opportunity to purchase air conditioning for the first night. This meant attempting to sleep in a hot room, which combined with a cockeral sounding at 4am (not the hotels fault) and a washing machine running at 8am (I am assuming our room was adjacent to the laundry room as it sounded like it was about to burst through the wall!). A final criticism was that there was no fridge in the room as advertised in the gazetter the travel agents showed us prior to booking, which i think is more of a criticism of the travel agents enquiries rather than the hotel itself.

However, without sounding too negative after the initial night the hotel and it's friendly staff really made a lasting positive impression on me. Ignore previous reviews describing mr soykan as ignorant, he is a friendly and welcoming man, as are the rest of his family. Everything was rather resonable with air con and a safe costing only £30 for a week and a ice cold bottle water costing 1TL. The cleaner deserves a special mention as she is without doubt the hardest working cleaner I have ever seen, thoroughly cleaning each room daily and even making patterns out of bedsheets and towels.

The Hotel is situated nicely in the middle of marmaris, 5min walk away from the beach. I recommend old trafford bar for drinks and food, they are reasonably priced (with 2-4-1 on all drinks), with friendly staff and free wifi internet. Angels inn opposite soykan also did an entertaining show and bbq on the saturday which is well worth the 25TL it cost.

All in all if you want a cheap, cheerful, clean hotel with a hospitable atmosphere (in part as a result of the soykan family but also the other guests we encountered) then choose the soykan!

We had a fair idea of what to expect before we left the U.K. As all the other reviewers have stated the rooms were basic but very clean and we cannot add to that. The Soykans were very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble for them, I have found this with most Family run hotels in Turkey. The pool, although smallish was big enough for most of the guests when it got too hot to lay around and, was cleaned and tested every night. The only negative was it was a little too deep for younger children without supervision.
As stated, it was a typical Turkish breakfast but, wonder of wonders we are in TURKEY. Some of the upper rooms had quite winding staircases so it would be a bit of a problem for people with walking disabilities or breathing disorders. The price of food and drinks at the small bar was not excessive and compared to outside of the Hotel. The location was a plus, not too far to everything!!!!! All in all, as long as you don't expect five star service for two star prices you will have a good time at the Soykan.

Soykan Hotel is a freindly lovely place to stop. We booked 2 weeks at end of August, beginning of September. Our first impressions at 2 am where not favourerable, but we put that down to the flight and the coach transfer from the airport. bbut the next day we meet Mr & Mrs Soykan, what alovely couple, we found them both to be very polite at all times. the staff were also very polite, although most of them are family, so this could be why, good teaching from great people. the rooms where cleaned daily to a standard you would expect from a 5 star hotel. the breakfast was a tradional turkish breakfast, but if tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese, boiled egg and bread and jam are not your thing, there are plenty of hotels and cafe bars close enough, that would do you a english breakfast. we have been coming to Turkey since 1996,and the Soykan has one of the cleanest swiming pools i have ever seen. I would come here again because of the peaceful and quite loaction the friendly staff and all the other guest (some off whom have been coming here for years) were very welcoming. I would not recommend the hotel for a younger family due to the staris and the pool, but if mum and dad managed to get a break for a wek or two i would say that Soykan would be the perfect place for them to relax in a lovely little turkish family run hotel. The main road through the resort is 5 minutes away and the beach another 3 or 4 after that. Although if you dont fancy walking the Soykan provideds a lovely menu that is not dearer than any of the other hotels and bars in the area.Maybe the veiws from your balcony are not the best, but you come away to enjoy yourselfs not stop in your rooms, for a bed and breakfast hotel is is far better than you can expext at Blackpool back in the UK. And you wouldn't stop in your room there. all in all a lovely relaxing experiance
