“Cheap quiet hotel”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

Visited the Soykan in 2008. Spent two weeks in what I can only describe as a hotel classically being run by a family. Mr and Mrs alternate the desk and book you in, their grandson cleans the pool and serves drinks. Rooms are in need of modernisation as none had a tv in, unlike most other 2* establishments round Marmaris.
Pool is big and clean, the drinks/food are cheap.
The only downside is the walk to Marmaris strip - it is not near, maybe 10 mins walk?

For being a two star hotel, My wife and I found this quiet Hotel to be most relaxing and the pool was tested and treated every day even if there had been nobody in.We were self catering and were not hassled to eat and drink, unlike some hotels in Marmaris because they dont have a restaurant. Mr and Mrs Soykan are the most pleasent people although they dont understand too much English. The rooms are spotless and cleaned most days.Overall this little hotel is not far from the beach but far enough away to be quiet and if you dont like to walk you can get a dolmus right outside the door. A1

Room Tip: self catering rooms ae on the ground floor and are cooler than b&b rooms which are floors 1&...

I would describe this hotel as gods waiting room! Run by elderly husband & wife they tend to be more welcoming to the more senior of guests. A bed & breakfast hotel, if you can call cold hard boiled eggs, tomatoes & cucumber breakfast? Tea & coffee served at your table which is outside at the side of the pool as the hotel does not have a dining room! If you wanted another small cup of coffee or tea you would think you were asking for the world!
My son & his 2 friends came with my partner & i to this hotel and were watched like hawks all the time. They stayed in the apartments and the night watchman would just let himself into their apartment while they were just sitting talking & listening to their music which was not loud at all. They were given the scarborough warning to be on their best behaviour on this holiday and under no circumstances would bad behaviour of any kind be tolorated even down to them coming in late at night to which they were quiet as church mice. They had a splash & play around in the pool like teenage boys do and they were met by tut tuts of the old folk sunbathing & then were reported to the rep for splashing which she came & spoke to us about. They were on holiday for gods sake. If you dont want to be splashed then dont sit near the edge of the pool! My son & his friends came back from the beach on a few occasions to find the ownder Mr Soykan in the appartment or the night watch man, the appartment curtains were ripped, they had to ask for toilet rolls. They have seen better days and so has the hotel, rooms are very small, very basic with hard beds, in need of decorating with squashed mosquitos on the walls, torn towels and never any hot water to shower with no matter what time of day you tried to have one, and for a small hotel that is not acceptable. I have stayed in large hotels which have always had lashings of hot water anytime day or night for everyone. Stay here if you want but there are much better hotels, Marmaris has literally hundreds!

I visited the Soykan Hotel on my first trip to Marmaris in 1994 way back then the Soykans did'nt speak much English they relied on their staff. The hotel is basic we went with a family of Five it was just m wife and I our room was on the ground floor the balcony looked on to a wall and the back end of the Bar which was an advantage for me on our first night there as I had quite a lot to drink and My wife locked me in the room. Just climbed over the balcony and through the bar began drinkin again. Way back then the hotel was basic however if you stay in the apartment building then you will be happy these are massive. I have passed by the soykan on subsequent trips to marmaris over the last few years not much changed. It is basic but is central to most things a short walk to the beach having been to Turkey 7 times ove the preceeding years I must say I have stayed in Better but also stayed in worse. it is a good base to explore marmaris close to 2 main roads to catch dolmus to icemelar and plenty of eating and drinking holes around. Marmaris on overall has developed massively soince my first visit in 94 if you had seen what they called a restaurant then you realy would have grounds to complain go with the attitude that any hotel is a place to sleep and lie by the pool and take in the rays then you wont be dissatisfied. After all you get what you pay for and currently you ca go SC to marmaris for around 1200 GBP that a good deal you will never get that in the UK even a caravan will cost more and you are not Guaranteed sunshine all day everyday May advice is read reviews but dont take them literally as peoples opinion will vary as to what they expect and what they get

Room Tip: Dont get the room behind the bar no view just a wall

I stayed here on 20th August 2011..Soykan Hotel is a freindly lovely place.I have been every year..They are my family..Never money problem never any problem..MR and Miss Soykan nice people..Now theyre grandchildren controlled to hotel so some chancing. Also hotel is very clean including the pool staff are friendly even though mr and mrs soykan don't speak very much 5 mins away from beach and bars/restaurants. free wifi. you can use hotel computers..Rooms cleaned every other day with fresh towels, the standard of cleanliness is excellent. Balconys are lovely with room for table and chairs. Pool is very big compared to other pools in turkey..The hotel kitchen is very clean has got kind of food..Soykan bar has got a lot of alcohol and coctail also you can change music on the bar what you want..Beer vodka gin coctail very cheap other the marmaris hotels.outside also expensive so be carefull..there was always a Soykan family member on hand to help you with anything you needed, and they really went the extra mile to make sure you had the best holiday. You can watch TV football match big Tv..And if you learn about Marmaris night life bar street disco you can ask mr mss soykans grandchildren soykan(23)&dundar(23) they can help you..maybe they can bring you car or motobike:) they helpfull people..So i will go next year again..but they are changing tour agency..
