“very friendly would go back”
Reviewed 30 August 2011

never booked through major holiday company, booked ourselves,3rd visit to marmaris,1st to family run apartments, usually go to big complex,so was bit different for us this year.we were not dissapointed at all, only down side for us was the aircon was only in one bedroom so it was pretty hot everywhere else in apartment, also before hand we asked for top floor apartment wish we had got middle floor as they were a lot bigger then ours, but otherwise good, lovely n clean, cant fault that[unless you go with high expectations]staff n owners very welcoming and friendly, maradonna,MY FRIEND,nothing was to much for him you only had to ask for what you needed and if possible he would help you, lovely man,all the staff and owners were like that, good location about 10mins walk to beach front,be prepared to be hassled along beach front ,well after all you are in marmaris, usually a NO sends them onto their next victim, lol.if you like football pay visit to football bar street just behind talk of the town, especially the man u bar.lol, very good friendly banter down there, all in all great holiday would use marlin again without a doubt heres to marmaris next year, cant wait !!

Room Tip: rooms are basic but clean, dont expect luxury and you wont be disappointed great base for holiday

me and 3 mates (girls aged 21) have just returned from 2 weeks at marlin appartments.
we arrived in the early hours and were abit annoyed when we realised we had to pay for air con. on the website it said split air conditioning but only one room had it so we also had to purchase a fan for the other bedroom. the appartment was basic but very clean and had everything we needed. the cooking hob took an hour to boil the water though haha! the maid cleaned everyday but sheets and towels were changed every 4 days. we were unaware we had to pay for toilet roll (1 lira each) so be warned the maid wont supply it.
they have a 24 our bar and restaurant which was reasonably priced although you could walk 5 mins down the road and get cheaper food. a supermarket is 5 mins walk away so we would walk there to get food etc. you are provided with kitchen equipent if you want to eat in which we did a few times.
there are 3 main pools and although only a few sunbeds get the sun all day, the ones that did were always free. the beach is only a 10 minwalk but we stayed at the pool everyday.
the staff were brilliant and so helpful!! we really felt at home there. ocktay (the owner) was lovely and helped us out immeadiatley with any problems we had. the bar staff were great and we had such a laugh with them!! marradona (one of the staff) was so polite and was always on hand to help. elvis, one of the staff continually hasseled me as i was the only single girl which got annoying at times but nothing i couldnt handle! we all had a good laugh with him too.
every week they do a bbq for 25 lira which we found too expensive as you can go down the road and get more food and entertainment for 15 lira!
overall i found marlin a friendly and safe place and located perfectly in marmaris. the beach strip with bars and restaurants was only a 5-10 minute walk and bar street 20 mins (although we found bar street abit too mad and sleazy, full of turkish men!!) the beach strip was much nicer and had everything we needed.
i would recommend marlin. remember you get what you pay for. it wasnt luxury but it met our needs!! im gutted to be home!
ps if you book as a package holiday you will have a rep which comes to the hotel 5 times a week and does a welcome meeting. we booked through thomson/first choice and our rep was lovely. i would strongly recommend only booking trips with the rep. alothough they are slightly more expensive they are far safer. we booked a massage with an excirsion company on the street and had a horrible experience as their standards are lower then of thomsons trips.
enjoy!! tell elvis jade says hi hahaha

Room Tip: rooms as far away from the bar as possible are the best as people were getting disrupted by people r...

Went to Marln House for a girls holiday Mid June 2011. Was the best holiday ever! The rooms were big enough for what we needed, and we were put right next to the bar! The staff were amazing, from helping us with our luggage to looking out for us while we were out there, they were so nice and friendly. Fronted by Octay who even came to see if we were okay when one of my friends was taken into hospital! It was like we were part of the family. Would not hesitate to book here again, perfect distance from the beach and Bar Street. Came back this morning and already want to get on a plane and go back! Fantastic!

marlin apartments is number one, there was six of us in our group, on the rival in dalaman to my shock we wasnt stopping half way so i can collect water for the children with great suprise marlin had water on supply for our arrival which i was very pleased, i have been to many hotels and apartments and marlin is the one for me, the staff couldnt do enough for us, the food was excellent katered for everyone, its the first time we been to turkey and none of us have been running to the toilet lol, cool area was very clean cleaned everyday twice a day, even the staff kept children occupied by playing pool and let them use there internet which they know all children like, we also had a couple disabled people with us which to our great suprise the rooms was so big that they could use there wheelchairs to get around in the appartment, the showers look small but we tried a summer chair inside where disabled people could shower with plenty of room which they really enjoyed, the best thing is its only two streets away from the beach, plenty of night life around but once you went back to your appartments with great pleasure you could sleep all night with no noise at all which in the past i have experienced alot of sleepless nights, in the evenings if we didnt want to go out as the children fell to sleep early the balconys are so big for familys we just sat talking, the staff weather it was just coffee, tea or alchohol it was never too much for the staff to bring, yes the rooms are only basic but got everything you need and in perfect working order, but then again you do only get a two ring hobb, but then again who goes on holiday to cook, the food on the complex was for everybody, you only had to leave your towels and bedding outside the door and within a hour you had all clean towels and bedding, we have also meet some very good freinds which i hope to stay in touch with thanks to the marlin house hotel

Myself and 4 friends booked a cheap holiday through Thomas Cook and while we were prepared that 'you get what you pay for' this place took the biscuit. We were told that the hotel was young and lively however we were threatened with eviction on the second night for being 'too loud'. We were not loud, we were sitting in our apartment with the doors closed after a night out. Found the staff member very intimidating as he screamed in our faces (unprofessional and complete overreaction) and discriminatory towards women. Overall found the staff unfriendly and uncooperative.

The website said the apartment would have full air con for 25 lira(or so) per week. As soon as we arrived a member of staff stood with his hand open looking for 10lira per day for air con in one room that blew out hot air. By the end of the holiday the 5 of us were sleeping in one room, sharing a double bed and lilos to try and cool down.

The fridge did not work. We constantly had warm drinks, no ice and we couldn't store any fresh food because it would go off in the heat. Despite telling staff several times they didn't seem bothered because they never fixed it. My friend and I both got really bad food poisoning because the hob stopped working half way through cooking chicken and we didn't notice. That took 2days out of our holiday while we lay in bed sick in a stifling room. Staff could not have cared less, we asked for the hob to be replaced and they did replace them, with another set that did not work either. The bathroom was a wet room and as the drainage left much to be desired the apartment often flooded as the water from the shower seeped out under the bathroom door. We had to deflate our lilos and use our own towels to stop the leaking which didn't really work very well.

The pool facilities were shocking. One pool was in full sight of the main road so we weren't comfortable to sunbathe there so we stayed at the pool at the back. The whole place is in the shade by 2pm so doesn't leave too much time for catching the rays.
For sheer convenience we would sometimes have lunch at the cafe but really don't waste your money. Curry chip is like chips with curried water.

On the first day Thomas Cook sent a rep (dodgy boy, that's all I'll say) to get us to sign up to excursions. Do not do it. Complete waste of money and you can book excursions in the town for much cheaper. The midnight boat trip was pathetic, it was all families but we were told it was like going to a club on a boat, free drinks and dinner provided. The dinner was cold spaghetti and a dry chicken breast. 10lira extra for a plate of chips. The drinks were local spirits and tasted like lighter fluid. After the food the 'club' started. Our rep was in her fifties and was the only one dancing pulling shapes that nobody wants to see. We went to a 'free bar' night in a local club but it was scumbag central. The music had to be stopped and the lights turned on so they could hose down the floor covered in puke and spilled drinks. We didn't bother going on the other excursions. We were told the reps would be around everyday to see how we were getting on. I didn't see a rep once the whole time I was there so we had nobody to help us with the problems in our room.

So in case you haven't guessed it I would not recommend this holiday. I'm sure this was a one off in terms of service from Thomas Cook but the Marlin seems to be consistent in it's poor standards. The website is misleading and I fully begrudged paying so much for terrible air con (one day it hit 50C). It's true you get what you pay for but with this standard they should have been paying us to stay there. The staff were awful and unhelpful. Never again.

Room Tip: Book a different hotel.

we went there for our first trip to marmaris and we stayed at the marlin apartments.we arrived there late because our plane got delayed, but when we got to the hotel the manager was helpful a man took our suitcases up for us. the rooms were really really clean and quiet.the pool was getting cleaned it got cleaned every 2 days, which was really clean. we went out to eat because we thought they didnt have food in that hotel, whichwas really mistake because the foods are really nice. our first knight we stayed at the hotel for drinks and there was music which was a good entertainment. the hotel is really good because it wasnt far away from the beach and clubs its was round about 7 minutes walk to the beach, shops and resturant. the staff were really helpfull and nice. me and my children didnt even want to come back when we came we started looking for another flight to there.
