We stayed at the Club Candan in August with our 9 and 6 year olds.

The hotel is in a very good area, about 15 minutes from the promenade, with restaurants and shops only 5 minutes away. The local mosque may or may not wake you at 5am!

The hotel is very clean and tidy. The public areas and poolside are kept spotless and the staff work very hard to maintain it like this. There is a mini- market on site which is expensive (but not like UK prices), a tattoo artist and a hair stylist. I would definitely recommend the hair stylist for a Turkish shave - a painful yet strangely satisfying experience!

Our room was on the top floor with a pool view, which was excellent. However, there is no aircon in the lounge. Being on the top floor in 45 degree heat meant that the heat was almost unbearable in the lounge where the kids slept. We ended up letting the kids sleep in the bedroom. I have to say the facilities in the apartment were very basic for a 4-star hotel. There was no toaster and very few items of cutlery and crockery. You also have to pay for any more than 4 channels on the TV.

The pool is excellent with a huge water slide. The only downside to this was that some 'guests' were completely abusing the rules by sliding down on lilo's etc and they were not being challenged by staff. Whilst I am all for having fun this didn't portray a good example to the many kids watching.

My only real gripe with the place was the miserable staff, especially in the bar and restaurant area. It is clear that if you are a loud and brash family you will probably strike up good relations with them but if like us you only used it occasionally some of the staff were tantamount to being dismissive. That said, the cleaning staff were completely different and very friendly (as well as efficient). The Thomson rep, Helen, also seemed very friendly and efficient.

Our kids loved the Thomson Kids Club and the staff were brilliant. There are a number of sessions you have to pay for and it's cheaper to pay in sterling as Thomson's exchange rate is appalling! On a wider note, make sure you take sterling with you as it is accepted in almost all restaurants and bars and you get a much more favourable exchange rate in town. Excursions are also much cheaper in the many tourist shops in town that the ones offered by Thomson. We did two excursions and were less than half the price of the same Thomson trips

Overall I would happily recommend this hotel if you plan to use it as a base rather than stay within the complex for your whole holiday. The aircon issue in the lounge, however, would mean we wouldn't stay again because it's simply too hot.

Room Tip: Don't ask for a top floor room in the height of summer in Block B - there is no outside shade on the balcony and no aircon in the lounge. Do make sure you have a pool view though!

We're still here laid by the pool and its 40 degrees, lovely :) hotel is brilliant for family's and couples , small hotel with lots to do for the kids ( including Xbox which my boys love ) the big slide Xbox daily games are all around u when your laid by the pool so the kids are always in site . Staff are great but I've left the best till last as this place would not be what it is without cookie and honey the entertainers , cookie is one of the funniest people we've ever met , there's 9 of us here and we all want to take him home , I've been to lots of countries all over the world but I think this hotel is the only one ive ever said I'd return to , we're booking for next year as soon as our feet hit the uk . And if Cookie and Honey aren't here next year they'll be trouble so hope the bosses are reading this !!!! Ha . Thankyou to all at the club can dan ( pronounced jandan by the way ) best wishes, Claire , Damian , jace, Reiss, frazer , jade makenzie , Sharon and Jordan xxxxxx

Been to turkey quite a few times but first time staying here and loved every minute off it would recommend this to anyone going to turkey!
I went with a group of friends for two weeks and because we liked it so much me and my boyfriend are going back next year! The staff made the holiday as they were so friendly and welcoming and treated you as individuals getting to know you! Looking forward to going back!

I just came back from 1 week @ club candan with my family. we loved it, the staff at reception are very friendly and helpful, the cleaners are friendly and they cleaned our room everyday, the restaurant staff are ok but they can be rude sometime.
the staff in the kids club are lovely, the children had so much fun.
Cookie & Honey are fantastic entertainers, can't wait to come back to see them.
this hotel is so clean & tidy, No Bugs..... they clean out the pool every day.
curly's hairdressers is great, we had our hair, eyebrows & feet done here.
the tattoo artist (saeed) is excellent.
