firstly the good stuff...

The hotel complex had a large pool and good clean surroundings, it was a walk of about 15 mins from the marina and close to the amphitheatre, the veg markets and the main shopping areas. the room was well stocked and clean, with good maid service which was a nice surprise as we were expecting to do it ourselves in self catering.

the kitchen lounge

this has a put you up bed which was surprisingly comfortable and could be made into a sofa though the day, doors led out directly onto a decent sized balcony and there was a kitchenette
which had a two ring cooker, a Panini grill and a kettle and came supplied with pans, cutlery, glasses and chopping boards ect ( take tea towels)

bathroom
the shower was warm and a bath available if you wished .A big sink with shelf under neither, the loo and the "loo paper" bin- in turkey the plumbing cant cope with loo roll so you are required to place it in a bin (take nappy sacks if the idea is yucky)..there is also a small but adequate hairdryer in the room and plug points for electric razors , however a travel plug is required

bedroom,
the bedrooms had a dressing table, small unit and twin single beds, all clean and extra blankets are supplied in the wardrobe if you need them.

the shop
over priced and under stocked..but you are so near other shops just go there. There are several spar type shops nearby.

now for the moans

noise noise noise..yes its a muslim country and the call to prayer sounds multiple times a day..this is a very beautiful sound and is done via a tannoy system, which not always appreciated at 6.15 when the first call goes out, but it pales into insignificance to what the entertainment music was like.
this was relentless pop music blasted from massive speakers from midday till about 1.00am, the team did turn it down a little but it was so bad we felt driven from our apartment and actually had to wear earplugs to sit out on the balcony for our meals- it really spoiled our stay. now I am not a spoilsport and appreciate that some folk will want the latest dances and club sounds but perhaps advertised quiet times though the day for example for a siesta and a advertised cut of point would have been helpful. maybe the shop could make a mint selling earplugs to everyone.

would I book again...for ichmeler or a quieter resort yes but sorry thompsons unless you tone it down we wont be back.

First of all the hotel itself was clean and the apartment was lovely. It would have been even better if you could have changed the clientele loud tattooed covered parents who swore at their children. The first night we were there we were given a pool view on the ground floor. There was a family fighting in the middle of the night. The next day the Thomson rep Helen did an excellent job and got us move to a first floor apartment. There were a further two fights in the middle of the night in the hotel with one of the guests hitting a security guard and his own mom. The hotel is fine for families but we went as a couple and it was not suitable for us.
I liked Marmaris and Icimeler good food and lovely marina with bars and restaurants. We had a Turkish Bath and Massage which was an excellent experience. We also had a day out on a boat with lunch for 10 pound you just go to the marina before 10 am in the morning no need to prebook. The Jeep safari was a bit of a let down you did not go off road very much but for 12 pound what did I expect. perhaps the Thomson one is better.
I enjoyed the holiday but should have stayed elsewhere.

Room Tip: Choose a pool view room not on ground floor in block A B or C as they get the sun unfortunately we w...

I really don't know where too start. This was the second time we stayed at the club candan, we loved it so much in may that we rebooked and went for 2 weeks in October only coming back yesterday and all set to book again next May. When we arrived at the hotel which was in the early hours we were recognised by the staff who were working that night. We quickly checked in and put our bags in the room and went downstairs to have a quick drink and a catch up with the staff before going to bed. I was surprised they recognised us as they must see thousands of people. What a brilliant start to the holiday The Hotel was clean and tidy and the maid was very helpful. The food was great and we ate there most of the time. The staff were really friendly and polite. The entertainment team cookie and honey were awesome. They didn't hassle you at all to join in if you said no they just said ok . My grandson loved them even though shy at first he was soon up dancing with honey. Big shout out to Orlando He was brilliant with the kids and always took time out to see if we were enjoying ourselves and often stopped to play football with the children. The entertainment was fab even though I don't like snakes. The Breakdancers were brilliant and the candan staff doing their party dances entertained us till the end of the night. My grandson loved the pool and spent most of the day in either one. We had what we wanted a chilled out and relaxed two weeks. Its only a short 10 minute walk into the marina (if you know the way) which is beautifull. Marmaris on the whole is clean and there is no litter anywhere. we grabbed some great bargains while we were there and cant wait to return for more. Roll on May

Club Candan's in itself is lovely to look at. All of the hotel was clean and tidy however a few complaints:

1) The entertainment at night is far too loud. It goes on until after midnight, so if you fancy an early night, not a chance.
2) We had a few cockroaches in our apartment. Maybe this is because we were ground floor, staff came and got rid of them
3) The 'supermarket' is a joke. Empty shelves all over, the only thing they had in stock was water.
4) One night we had a pizza from dominoes on our balcony and was pestered continuously by a member of staff asking for some. Very annoying and we ended up having to be quite abrupt to him, to get him to leave us in peace.
5) The alarm for the Mosque goes off ALL the time. Its loud and lengthy (maybe because the siren is above the hotel?) and often woke us up at 5am.
6) The hotel says 'short walk from Marmaris' its not. its more like 20 mins'

Marmaris was awful! If your expecting a nice sandy beach your going to be dissapointed. We even got a taxi to Icemer to see if the beach there was any better. (It's not) Very rocky, and quite a dip in the sea bed.
The workers were horrendous. Used to be hassled to eat/buy etc but ive never seen anything like it! Constant, and they remember you the next night, so it gets worse the longer your there.
There is a resturant called The Queen Vic, avoid at all costs!!! The guy there followed us down the street to get us to eat there, one day when we saw him, we went around the block so as not to see him and he followed us all the way round.
Also be careful in the shops, one man in a bag shop tried to pull my friend into his store room, was very rough with her and kept trying to sniff her neck! After we tried to get out he chased us out the shop calling us Gypsy's. Honestly never been to a place this bad.

Major let down

Stayed here for the first time in the first 2 weeks of October but it won't be my last time, The hotel was lovely and clean and the staff all really friendly. Honey and Cookie were brill around the pool during the day to keep you entertained, We didn't eat at the hotel much only at lunchtimes on a couple of occasions but the food was always nice we chose to eat at the Queen Vic which is just down the road and cheaper than the hotel and what a great place this was the food was lovely and we never had a bad meal and excellent value for money we were a family of five and spent around £45 a night on food and drink and the staff are all fab, I would recomend the hotel and Marmaris to anyone one of the best holidays I have had

This was our third year at The Club Candan, this years entertainment team Honey and Cookie were absolutely brilliant. Cookie and Honey were very entertaining throughout the holiday, they were always sociable with all the holiday makers and made sure everyone was having fun. From our first day they made us feel welcome, throughout the holiday the activities were good fun for all age groups. we always joined in with most of the activities especially water gym :)
All the staff from the restaurant were excellent especially Ercan he is great addition to the restaurant team, he was always happy to help and nothing was too much trouble. Ayhan is also a good member of staff he was always pleasant and helpful.
We also went to Curly's Hairdressers for a haircut, the service was brilliant and amazing members of staff.
Therefore we have booked for next year and hope to see all the same faces, especially Honey and Cookie as they made our holiday the best out of the 3 years we have stayed there.
Thank you for a lovely holiday
