firstly the good stuff...
The hotel complex had a large pool and good clean surroundings, it was a walk of about 15 mins from the marina and close to the amphitheatre, the veg markets and the main shopping areas. the room was well stocked and clean, with good maid service which was a nice surprise as we were expecting to do it ourselves in self catering.
the kitchen lounge
this has a put you up bed which was surprisingly comfortable and could be made into a sofa though the day, doors led out directly onto a decent sized balcony and there was a kitchenette
which had a two ring cooker, a Panini grill and a kettle and came supplied with pans, cutlery, glasses and chopping boards ect ( take tea towels)
the shower was warm and a bath available if you wished .A big sink with shelf under neither, the loo and the "loo paper" bin- in turkey the plumbing cant cope with loo roll so you are required to place it in a bin (take nappy sacks if the idea is yucky)..there is also a small but adequate hairdryer in the room and plug points for electric razors , however a travel plug is required
the bedrooms had a dressing table, small unit and twin single beds, all clean and extra blankets are supplied in the wardrobe if you need them.
over priced and under stocked..but you are so near other shops just go there. There are several spar type shops nearby.
now for the moans
noise noise noise..yes its a muslim country and the call to prayer sounds multiple times a day..this is a very beautiful sound and is done via a tannoy system, which not always appreciated at 6.15 when the first call goes out, but it pales into insignificance to what the entertainment music was like.
this was relentless pop music blasted from massive speakers from midday till about 1.00am, the team did turn it down a little but it was so bad we felt driven from our apartment and actually had to wear earplugs to sit out on the balcony for our meals- it really spoiled our stay. now I am not a spoilsport and appreciate that some folk will want the latest dances and club sounds but perhaps advertised quiet times though the day for example for a siesta and a advertised cut of point would have been helpful. maybe the shop could make a mint selling earplugs to everyone.
would I book again...for ichmeler or a quieter resort yes but sorry thompsons unless you tone it down we wont be back.
