“Late review, but loved it so much I couldn't not!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2014 via mobile

I visited last year 27th June-5th July with my boyfriend and had the most amazing holiday.

ROOM
perfect for what you need, clean, lots of space, comfy beds, spacious fridge, plenty of storage and a bath!! One night without air con working but this didn't really bother us much. Had a problem with the shower and it was fixed almost immediately. They even sent someone to repair a tiny bit of wallpaper that we hadn't even realised had come off!

FOOD AND DRINK
As we went b&b we had breakfast here all but 1 of the days we stayed. It was basic: toast, egg on toast or continental but it was nice food and a good start to the day. Lunch is very tasty with lots of variety and reasonably priced, the toasties are to die for. Only had 1 evening meal here but it was huge, delicious and amazing value for money. We had a fishbowl everyday without fail and they varied day by day. One day it would be weak, some perfect and other days it tasted so strong it was undrinkable but this may be down to personal taste. The ice-creams are amazing.

POOL
The pool was my favourite part of the hotel! It was spacious and refreshing in the heat. Never had a problem getting sunbeds although we went before the school holidays so it may get busy during this time. The slide was so much fun and open for plenty of time each day.

TRIPS
We booked our trips down the road from the hotel as Thomson's prices were ludicrous.
We went on a trip to the waterpark which was a good day out although it did get a bit boring being there all day and there weren't many places in the shade. They did however do the best milkshakes in the whole of Marmaris!
We also went on the lazy boat trip, which was a nice relaxing day in the sun. Plenty of sunbathing and swimming in the sea and a lunch of chicken, pasta, salad and bread is included.
The jeep safari was by far the best day of the holiday and is the most fun trip I have ever been on. Who doesn't love a good water fight! Was also nice to have a drive out of marmaris and see some other sights like Jesus beach and the waterfall, you must jump off it's so much fun. Again lunch is included.
We got a free evening cruise having purchased 3 trips, this was nice and included dinner of fish or chicken with pasta, salad and bread (the common meal on most trips!) and entertainment. Although the belly dancer did make me feel a bit uncomfortable and other people too from looking around. Only disappointment was that there were no desserts available, meaning that we had to get one when we got back to the hotel.

ENTERTAINMENT
Can't fault how hard Cookie, Honey and DJ Gogo worked, from morning through until night they were there playing music, and getting people involved in activities. If you didn't want to join in though they left you alone. They had shows in the evening, mini kids discos and bingo! Didn't stay here all night but popped in every night to see what was going on and have a drink.

Overall, we had a fantastic holiday and I would highly recommend it to everyone. Most suited to young families, but as a 19 year old couple we had a fantastic time. Would recommend venturing to the harbour for dinner as it is by far the best quality food although slightly more expensive, with beautiful views. Would love to come back here sometime. Thank you Club Candan!

We enjoyed our stay here. Great base for exploring marmaris and beyond. Hotel and staff are great.
The downside is the entertainment starts at 11am and ends just after midnight with music all day. May suit some people but wasn't for us. Some nights music could be heard through earplugs. May be better, like others say, with a room not facing the pool.
Wasn't quite the peaceful holiday we expected but loved exploring Turkey.

first the good points ! rooms very good, staff all round, very good pool one of the best we have enjoyed, top marks all round
Top marks to all the thomson staff, who worked wonders with all the kids, big pat on the back to Jemma, who worked very hard, to help all she could, regarding any probs that surfaced.
Some points, that could be helpful, to customers, ie, some acommadation of sorts, made for guests, who have a long time to wait for pick up, on return back home, ie secure room, or such to store thier luggage "ect" securley.. and safe... My view its great for young kids/ not for couples.

Room Tip: all rooms are good, pool view shades it just..

Me and the girlfriend normally go to Tenerife on our holiday but we popped into Thomsons and got a good deal on a week to Turkey. Never really like the idea of Marmaris since hearing all the stories but we had a great time, week wasn't long enough.
Wouldn't really say it was a 4 star hotel more of a 3 star plus. The rooms were nice and kept tidy, we got a pool view and didn't even ask which was great.
The pool was a good size and has a massive slide, would be great for kiddies. Read some other reviews about it being swarmed with kids - not true. Any hotel in a holiday resort will have kids if you don't like it book an adult hotel. Also same as the mosque, we didn't even hear it after the 2nd night, and if u don't like the sound of it, don't go to an Islamic country. I'm sure tourists in UK don't like hearing church bells all the time!
It was a good 25 minute walk to the beach (dnt know why people are saying 10 etc), but it wasn't all that great anyway it was all stoney. We managed to get a dolmus to the beach thought that was about 80p. We recommend if you want a lie at the beach go to Icmeler the resort next to Marmaris. The boys working there were great, can't remember most of their names cause most workers in Marmaris are Turkish, but Sedat behind the bar was defo a great guy. Only staff we didn't like was the supervisor, had a stinking attitude and made my wife uncomfortable. No reflection on the rest of the lads though, they'd do anything for ya! Entertainment fab, service great, rooms clean and the prices in the restaurant not too bad either.

Overall great stay, already looking to go back to Marmaris in October. If It wasn't for certain staff wed be going back to Candan tomorrow!

Room Tip: ask pool view

My wife & I arrived on May 5th 2014 from Glasgow, Scotland, and did not queue any longer than 3 minutes before being welcome to the hotel and given our room key. Fantastic accommodation, very clean & great staff. The hotel is centrally located, 10 mins walk to the sea front, plenty of spar type shops and loads of bars and restaurants to choose from, my wife and I found Thomas and Kenny at the Villa Dreams Bar excellent hosts with really good food at very reasonable prices. I cannot fault this hotel or the staff or it's location. The hotel did a fantastic buffet night and put on an equally brilliant show with Turkish dancing and local acts, excellent value for money at £10 per person. The only thing that spoilt our holiday was the fact we only stayed here for a week. However we will most definitely return.

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear are quieter at night than the ones on the poolside. The top floor is hotter than t...

Thought I would give a full review, especially for those travelling with babies/infants

Family of 4, 2 adults, a 3 year old and a baby . We booked 3-4 weeks in advance with Thomson for May 12-19th and got a good deal

HOTEL
Room D201. Room size was spacious, overlooking the neighbouring hotel pool/bar . Not nearly as loud as the pool view rooms. Given twin room with cot but then a pull down bed was added so 4 of us in one room. Sofa bed in other room so we could have slept 4 adults and a baby really. Walls could do with a lot more soundproofing both on walls and ceiling (too much running, banging, footsteps etc). This would be my only real negative. Very clean in our opinion, towel change every other day and daily clean. Shower was nice and hot every time, plus you could have a bath if wanted. Toilet Roll costs 1 TL in the shop and only 1 roll is provided for you. TV gives a few news channels and you can pay for more channels. Kettle (didn't work very well), sandwich toaster provided with normal plates, cups, bowls etc and cutlery. We didn't expect much but we were impressed with what we got and we are used to AI 5* holidays in the Mediterranean. From previous reviews, your room seems to be quite an important factor. No cockroaches in our room for sure!

Good base for everything. Local restaurants 5 mins (summer rain, villa dream), beach 10 mins. We did this with one pushchair between the 2 children. Restaurants are closer than they look on the map. Tried the hotel breakfast, better and cheaper outside. Quite a few waiters working, although a lot were walking around during the day checking people out. We didn't try any evening meals here so can't comment but it did seem fairly busy on most nights, which could've been for cocktails

Entertainment team tried hard to get people involved in their activities and although it won't be to everyone's taste, they were quite good. Didn't sample any evening entertainment at the hotel but it did seem to suit quite a few people - karaoke, bingo, snake show, dance.
No fights for sunbeds during the first few days but could tell that it could be problematic during the peak of summer. Kids pool with slides good for toddlers, although some children that were too old and big for the slides were also using the pool.

We used the kids club once and our son enjoyed himself. Gives you a couple of hours in the morning and evening to spend with the rest of your family/party. Plenty of varied activities for them to enjoy. Some activities payable though

My wife did the Turkish bath here only because it was more convenient, rather then travelling elsewhere to do it. Yes, it would be cheaper elsewhere but she enjoyed it and it meant that I could watch the kids for an hour or so.

We took £300 and the exchange rate was 3.48 (restaurants) for TL. This covered all of our food and drinks.

Would easily go back again and recommend to family/friends. Just don't expect 5 star and think of the hotel as a good base for your holiday. Don't get a pool view room if you have young children as it will be too noisy due to evening entertainment. Also, don't worry about the call for prayer as although you will hear it, you learn to deal with it.

Hope this helps somebody

Room Tip: D201 - facing neighbouring pool/bar. Not too noisy as compared to the main pool view rooms. choose b...
