We stayed at Emre Beach from the 17th sept - 1st oct. Upon our late night arrival we were greeted at the reception and taken to our room very quickly.
We were amazed with our room (2608), top floor, sea view, panoramic view and a jacuzzi bath!! My partner emailed the hotel 2 weeks prior to our holiday to ask for this and at no extra cost we were happily surprised to get it when we arrived. Our room was always kept spotless with regular changes of towels and bedding, although dust in places it shouldn't of been. We couldn't say one bad word about our maid, but that couldnt be said for some of the other maids. They were very rude and spoke in their language making it obvious that they were clearly talking about you which made us feel very uncomfortable.
One thing we couldnt stand about our room was the smell out on the balcony, I dont know where it came from but we couldnt leave our balcony door open for long or tolerate sitting out there most days. Why have an amazing view if you can only view it from behind closed doors? This became a problem when the maid had finished cleaning the room she would always leave the balcony door open and once we came back to the room it really smelt.
The aircon was a godsend but sometimes did kick up the mystery balcony smell.
Although we was aware of the all inclusive choice of drinks, it became apparent that it was more hassel to ask for something that cost as the staff didn't have the time of day to serve you normally let alone go through the process of paying for it with the queues as long as they were!
This seems a problem for everyone that stays at this hotel. There would always be one bartender serving and most of the time another standing behind the bar doing nothing when the queue was going down the stairs! Most of the time this would put us off of going back up and would resort to us leaving the hotel and going down the strip on the beach to find somewhere else to drink for the night. The drinks werent strong but depending on what bartender was serving, you could always ask for a double.
Being a woman I did find that all waiters and bartenders were very leary and i did feel uncomfortable alot of the time, my partner would go up for drinks most of the time as he didnt like the way they looked at girls. This became a problem when my partner was queing for drinks in the restaurant at dinner in a long line, when all of a sudden a woman walked past everyone straight to the front and got served straight away. The bartender we found did this most and we had most trouble with was called Turgay.
Reception is meant to be a place to go with any problems and for help but we found they were rude and unapproachable. One morning we went to ask about extending our stay in our room on our departure day as we werent being picked up until 10pm and had to be out of the room by 12 lunch time, was told that they couldnt tell us that day (thursday) but to come back sunday (the day before we leave). After going back sunday and seeing the same receptionist, we was told that we clearly did not listen as she said that I had to come back monday not sunday, which was not what she had said at all. Which is pointless as the only reason we wanted to stay in the room longer was so we didnt have to pack and could shower later. There were a few other instances that they were rude and unhelpful but generally they just stood there and looked you up and down as you walked past making us feel very uncomfortable.
The food was what you can expect from an all inclusive..I had read reviews saying it was repetitive and its going to be when your staying for 2 weeks which is why we decided to eat out a few times. I can highly recommend Natalies restaurant which is in the marina which is only around £5 in a taxi to get to, they do huge portions for a great price. Also, next door at the three brothers do a lovely english fry up, although their understanding of english isn't great so getting across we didnt want mushrooms or tomatoes but an extra sausage seemed like a major issue for them!! At dinner time it was hard to get a table if you hadnt got down there byt 7:30pm, and made harder to get one because the waiters would be saving tables for guests (mostly females) and just telling you to find another.
We only sat round the pool once or twice as there wasnt much sun throughout the day at all, we found the beach to be a much better place to go. Although we did have to get up early to put towels down, we didn't mind but you'd have to get up at about 5am to get on the pier!!
The beachboy did tidy up but seemed to linger around alot which made us feel uncomfortable leaving our sunbeds and possessions to go into the sea.
Our rep was Jay and of what we saw of him (which was next to nothing) he was very unhelpful. After informing us on our welcome talk that we needed to go to him 5 days before our departure if we wanted to book seats on the flight home, we did this on the thursday (5days before) but he told us we were too late. Don't know how you work that one out? The Thomas Cook rep Sarah, was there everyday and bent over backwards to help her guests from what we heard, whereas Jay gave the impression he couldn't be bothered.
There was basically no entertainment throughout the day, even though there is a schedule, half the activities didn't even happen. My partner waited for the water polo to start but it never did. All we ever saw was people playing darts and who wants to play darts when on holiday? Evening entertainment was ok but needed to last longer as it was dead by 10:30pm without even as much as music playing. Our hotels music was always so quiet even after asking for it to be louder.
On the hotels photo's it shows there is a place to sunbathe and chill out on orange and green pillows. In real life it looks NOTHING like this. They were stained, on decking that gives splinters and in the shade throughout the day, absolutely gross! (see my pictures)
The water sports were excellent and right on your door step. We went on jet ski's and had professional photos taken and put on a disc at a reasonable price.
Overall, it was a nice holiday but alot of improvements need to be made. Nothing drastic, but its the simple things that count!
