“Lovely holiday that I would recommend”
Reviewed 1 November 2013

I would not listen to the moaning people writing the last 2 reviews.
I was there and yes people are a bit chavvy.
The entertainment was VERY GOOD. The kids club was amazing.
There was loads to do all day.
Everybody was very very friendly.
This is an all inclusive holiday at self catering prices.
Unlimited beers and nobody was swearing infront of kids.
I have nothing but great memories of my stay here.
BE WARY THOUGH IF YOU GET SICK IT COSTS £100 to get treated.

Room Tip: Make sure you pay to upgrade. For a tenner a night you get a double size room.

We booked this hotel thinking it was the number one rated hotel in Marmaris as advertised on the Thomas Cook Website. If you go all inclusive you do stay at the apartments, you stay in the hotel over the road, which isn’t as nice

Bad points:

Pool was small and freezing and full of kids on inflatable’s so you couldn’t get in it even if you where brave enough to face the cold water

The La select restaurant where meals are served is far too small to cater for all the guests. As with other reviews we noticed that tables where not cleaned away after people left and the tablecloths where never changed.

Entertainment was dull and repetitive and would change depending on who was running it that night. Kids Mini disco would last anything between 10 mins and 40 mins depending on if the entertainment team could be bothered playing kids games at the end of it. 100 Lira Jackpot Bingo was obviously just a money spinner for the entertainments staff as they plugged it all day long. The main show would start at about 10 (if they could be bothered) until 11. Some of the acts then went round begging for money after it finished.

Bar street tour was another money spinner for the entertainment team. We were told they would take us out and introduce us to bar street on an a bar crawl, when in fact you get dumped in one bar all night where it was £6 a pint.

The other bar in the hotel is the Sherlock Holmes pub, which is smaller than my living room and would host Karaoke after the all inclusive finished. This was in-between the DJ playing techno at top volume. This is when the bar is mainly full of middle-aged people... hardly the target audience

As for other reviews saying the hotel is full of “Chavs”...Yes it is. If you have 6 kids and are on holiday spending your benefits then you will be ok here. When i was there i saw a fight between two middle aged Chav mums (the fake Hollister Tracksuit’s went everywhere). The kids would dominate on a night time, running wild and been abusive to the bar staff. They would also run round on a day time shooting people with water pistols.

Sleeping with the air con in our room was similar to trying to sleep with a washing machine by the side of your bed, loud isn’t the word

Good Points:

Basically all the staff with the exception of the Entertainment team:

Bar Staff where always nice (with the exception of the guy who usually worked in Sherlock Holmes bar at 11, who was rude and always got the drinks orders wrong)

Maids came in every day and kept the room tidy

Most of the waiters in the restaurant where friendly

While we were there we went on 3 trips (not using Thomas cook as it was a lot more expensive)

Ephesus trip - Interesting day, the guide was knowledgeable, I would recommend it, but the food served was awful. Breakfast was.... tomatoes, cucumber, egg and bread. That’s it! 4 out of 5

All inclusive boat trip – Ran out off beer, and Vodka. Took us to 2 swimming sites where there was nothing to see and a cave which was tiny. Got a funny look by the onboard photographer when we didn’t buy his pictures Totally pointless day out. 1 out of 5

Turtle Beach – This was basically a 4 hr round trip on a boat to see a turtle who was held captive for the tourists, split up with a meal of cold pasta and a “meat” burger. The mud baths where fun but we was only there 30 mins. 2.5 out of 5

Just got back from 2 weeks at the grand cettia. Overall the hotel is a nice family hotel, me and my partner only paid 1000 for 2 weeks all inclusive which felt was good value for money. The hotel is very clean and the rooms and nice and modern, the only place that perhaps does need to be kept a bit cleaner is the select restaurant. The food was ok and all inclusive drinks were good although it would have been better if the all inclusive had finished at midnight not 11.

The staff are really friendly and never seem to stop in particular the bar men at my favourite bar and the entertainment team. The entertainment was good all throughout the day but on a night got a bit repetitive after 2 weeks there and it was also freezing sitting outside for the night entertainment, invest in some outside heaters! We went on the trip to bar street with the entertainment team a couple of times which wasn't great, you were just left in one bar, a bar crawl would have been better to do a be crawl. We couldn't help but feel that the staffs hearts just weren't really in it anymore as it was nearly the end of the season but who can blame them when they've worked hard for months and are starting to wind down.

One downside was I lost a pandora bracelet in Sherlock Holmes bar, was hoping someone would hand it in but so far no one has, hotel can't be blamed for this though.

All in all it's a nice hotel which is probably 3/4 star, don't think we'd go back again as a couple but it's good for people with young children.

Stayed here for 1 week from 21st October 2 adults and 2 children aged 5 and 8.
First thing to point out is that if you have booked the Cettia Club with Thomas Cook and are all inclusive then this is where you stay. You only get the Cettia Club if you stay self catering or Half Board. This is not mentioned in the brochures at all!
Good points - great weather, lovely clean hotel, nice large well maintained rooms, lovely friendly staff with daily maid service for towels and bedding. The Thomas Cook rep Chris is the best rep we ever had on a package holiday and was approachable, very informative, funny and friendly. The Thomas Cook kids club was excellent and both of our children loved the club and the staff and I would highly recommend using the club if you stay here. There is also a couple of shops on site, hairdressers/nail studio, tattoo studio!, photographer and a great SPA offering/facility. The Dolmus bus service runs from just outside the hotel into marmaris ad is cheap and frequent.
Unfortunately though there were quite a few negatives with this hotel hence my 3 star rating and I would not choose to stay here again.
The pool. The tiles around all the pools are very very slippery and there are not sufficient mats around the pools. This may seem a minor thing but we all slipped and my son had a very nasty bump to his head. The main large pools at both the hotel and apartments shallow end starts at 1.3 metres so if you have small children or children who are not confident swimmers it's not great as they can only use the small toddler pools which are overcrowded as there are lots of children.
The restaurant is too small and there are no where near enough seats to cater for the guests. Most of the time you have to sit outside to eat which is ok during the day but at night in October it's chilly and is not ideal. For the evening setting there was a huge rush for tables when the restaurant opened at 7...it's a farce that we refused to join in!
The food is ok, repetative, not 4 star and not great if you are a vegatarian (mostly chips and salad). The breakfast is not great but if you go across the road to the apartments they sell cooked breakfasts for around £3.00.
The hotel was very busy when we stayed as it was half term. All guests were British and I think this is why there is reference in some reviews that people have left for this hotel regarding "chavs". Not a nice phrase but I guess this covers the small element of people who stay here who drink too much, swear loudly and the odd few who let their children run wild whilst they go shopping or sun bathe. This is not the hotels fault! But it is noticeable when you have small children who you want to protect from this.
Overall we had a good holiday here but if returning to Marmaris I would not stay here again.

We had a taxi from the airport we went to all three cettia hotels first cettia beach then club cettia and finally the right one Grand Cettia even though we tolg the taxi driver the correct one to start with .When we went up to our room my husband said what a strong smell of disinfect it was the next day we found out it had been on fire the day before we arrived. when we got up the next day you could smell it in the corridors and in the lift. The maids were spraying airfresher whole cans in rooms. they where cleaning walls etc.it was hard to tell there had been a fire to give them credit but the gym was closed and we booked a hotel with a gym so my teenage son had something to do when he was bored then offered shuttle service to sister hotel with a gym the size of a stamp with no weights he was not impressed said gym in his bedroom was bigger.the best the came up with was for him to have a set of dumbbells in the room not the best option for someone who works out everyday. The food was reasonable a bit repetitive like others have said mostly cold and dinning room was filthy we were the first in one night and my husband fetched the manager because the tablecloth was filthy from dinner.I saw a waiter dust the food of a table with a fork onto the floor didn't change the cloth then just put the fork back on the table for someone to come along and eat with most of the time you had to get our own cutlery there were chips and cake on the floor at breakfast from the night before. The entertainment was rubbish he liked the sound of his own voice shouting about the bingo sometimes it was so loud you could not even tell what he was saying.did not bother to mix with you if you wern't getting drunk in the evenings.we have been to Marmaris 3 times this is the worst place we have stayed would not go back. The room was very nice the maid kept it spotless but needs big improvement in entertainment and food.

We've just returned from a weeks stay at the Grand Cettia. We used Resort Hoppa for our transfers. After waiting for the coach to turn up we eventually set off to our Hotel. the coach was old albeit clean, but after a 4 hour flight, the seats were even more cramped than the plane, not ideal at all. the transfer then dropped us off at the wrong Hotel, the sister Hotel next door. The return was similar the pick up time was 1015 they asked us to be there at 10am. All passengers were ready but the bus turned up at 1030.
The hotel, our room was on the 7th floor overlooking the pool, lovely spacious clean room very impressed. Food was varied and very good, Pool area was nice and clean with pool attendants working all day drying up etc. Hotel entertainments staff did not really impress, the highlight each evening was BINGO, 100 lire pay out, but not all the monies taken was paid out, by any stretch of the imagination. There was Thomas Cook entertainment staff at the Hotel, but couldn't comment on them I wasn't with children. The total downfall to me of the Hotel was the restaurant, if you weren't on the 1st sitting for dinner, once the first diners had left the room, no effort was made to either turn, or change, the table cloths or reset the tables with cutlery. If you can imagine after the children had dined at the tables, what condition some of the table cloths were in ( I do not mean this in any disrespect to the children dining ) This was the let down of the Hotel,
Don't think the rest of the hotel deserved the Restaurant let down.
