“Horrible hotel - very stinky”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2013

This is a horrible hotel. Very stinky. AC doesn't work. Very hot inside. Though the atrium, private beach, etc. are nice the maintenance is very poor. Carpets are dirty inside the room and everywhere. Very soon they will shut down this hotel. Will not recommend.

No hot water, the air conditionning does not work, there are no power adaptors available, the food is less than average. Overall the hôtel is run down, and clearly overpriced. The location on the Beach is nice, and the staff is friendly. Internet is charged 10 USD per 24 hours, which is a rip off in line with the overpriced rooms and food. There are much nicer hotels in Entebbe within the same price range (such as the Protea hotel). This hotel, with Kenya's Lake Bogoria hotel is the worst hotel I stayed at in East Africa.

Room Tip: Don't go there. Choose à better hotel

I ended up at the Imperial after our airplane blew an engine and returned to En Tebbe for the night at around 2AM. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The hotel was modern although a bit outdated, clean although a bit worn down, and comfortable although a bit smelly. The hotel is located right on Lake Victoria with a pretty nice lakefront party area. Considering we were stranded in an unknown African airport, landing at this hotel was a pleasant surprise.

Things are fine enough at the Imperial Beach. The eighties design is dated, especially in reception area and restaurant, but it works. Rooms fine albeit lack of hot water. Food rather boring. Staff friendly and helpful. Good location. Pool area works fine and could be better advertised. To conferancy?

The property is spacious and well placed on beach front. The hotel has its own private beach and big lawns for walking around. the restaurants are not great and food is average. the outdoor grill and bar is major attraction and can get very crowded on weekends as public are allowed with a fee.
The rooms are big and spacious which reminds of old historic days and decorated in that fashion. cleaning and maintenance of rooms specially carpets is not good.
There are 2 lifts and only one works, Internet speed is awful and cant get even to browse without interuption. frequesnt power cuts are there and so mostly corridors and reception is always dark. rooms have some powerback up but i couldnt get the a/c to cool even for a single day so had to ask for fan.

Room Tip: The place is away from city and any plan to visit city is challenge as no taxis easily available fro...

The hotel is nearby the international airport. Rooms are large, not that clean. The main issue with this hotel is AC that is absolutely not sufficient. Service is ok, but if it weren't b/c its position I wouldn't recommend it

I had the opportunity to stay here for almost 2 weeks recently. This was the second time I stayed here, but the first visit was only for one night. I was with several colleagues this time and we all had a fairly good experience here. The rooms are comfortable and the staff were friendly. The food is pretty good - but sometimes inconsistent from one day to the next. The buffet is overpriced compared to ordering from the menu. The rooms I had were clean and the beds comfortable. Be sure to check the water pressure and temperature before accepting a room as these can be a problem and are different from one room to the next. In one room I was given, the shower sprayed directly out into the bathroom, flooding the floor and was not adjustable. I asked for another room and was given one cheerfully, but when I checked out they insisted on charging me a fee for changing rooms! Internet service is pretty good compared to other places but costs $10/day. They seem to run out of towels almost daily and often clean towels don't arrive until late evening. Air conditioning worked great, TV was good, the outdoor Mango Bar and Carnivore grill across the park were good, except on weekends when the music is extremely loud. There are several gift shops on the property as well and they had a nice selection to choose from and good prices.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake-facing room on the upper floors for the view.
