“A Sad Little Place”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

You get what you pay for, really. The whole museum is 4 rooms with a lot of exhibits looking like they've remained unchanged in the last 30-something years. It's quite sad that a country that has so much money and could have afforded a state-of-the-art historical museum cares so little about its history.
Do check out the old photographs of Al Ain and Abu Dhabi, though. It's amazing to see how much things changed since the 60's.

“so much history”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

If you like history you will love it. So much information, and the videos are very interesting. No place for refreshment except a vending machine at the entrance, so on a hot day its a problem.

“only if you've got the time to kill”
Reviewed 4 April 2014

This museum is worth a visit if you are in the neighbourhood. Unfortunately the fort was closed for renovations when we went. The museum exhibits were interesting, but badly in need of some TLC. Take a walk in the date palm farm next door!

“Small, yet Informative”
Reviewed 22 March 2014

I do agree with Ron M that some of the exhibits (certainly in the first room) do need a bit of a dust! BUT...all in all a very interesting little museum...lots of information in English as well as Arabic with pieces dating back some 4000 years. Informative video which is worth a watch to get a feel for how much everything has progressed in such a short space of time. Great photos and even the security guards could answer most of our questions, which was great! There are no refreshments for sale, however, if you plan ahead and take your own, there are 2 or 3 tents in the grounds in which you could have a snack/lunch in very peaceful surroundings. Bathroom facilities spotless. We live in Al Ain, so no bother for us to get here, but unless visiting Al Ain, I wouldn't travel specifically for this Museum alone, it takes about an hour to go around (a little longer if you read everything!). Sadly no tour booklet, which would be a great addition, maybe something to think about. But for AED 3 per adult (50p) entrance fee, it is money well spent :)
