“Unforgettable Anniversary”
Reviewed 3 August 2010

Absolutely enjoyed my stay at The cove, where the staff welcomed us right away upon arrival. During check in, we were upgraded from a one bedroom Villa to a 2 bedroom Villa which allowed us to enjoy our private pool giving our anniversary a special theme. Room space was great and still enjoyed its coziness. Amenities were added to our room, loved the flower bouquet (requested by my husband) it was so romantic.
The main restaurant, was yummy enjoyed all food served from Italian, Arabic, Mexican, etc… Additionally, room service was a good option to go to when we were exhausted and food was also great! Can still feel the taste of prawns J
Visited the beach and enjoyed the tan I gained and the water sports J.

My husband and I needed a relaxing break after both suffering illnesses recently. We chose this hotel as it is only an hours drive from dubai and on the beautiful coast of Ras Al Khaimah. Upon arriving you are instantly welcomed and made to feel like you are very special. check in is very quick and professional and you within minutes transported by golf buggy to your room. The rooms are very spacious and beautifully presented with great attention to detail. We had a private pool and terrace with a garden which sat on the top of a hill overlooking the Arabian Gulf and the resort. We ate that night in Basilico which is their Mediterranean/Italian restaurant. The food was fantastic and great value for money and the staff were very attentive. We then went to Breezes and had a night cap. The lounge was busy so we sat on the terrace which had great views of the resort at night. The staff in their were very attentive too and remembered your drink choice. The next day we ate lunch in Cinnamon the all day dining restaurant which has a wonderful selection of foods on their buffet and is great value for money with an informal atmosphere. Overall, my stay at the Cove was a great relaxing experience with fantastic attentive staff in a beautiful setting and great value for money. I would highly recommed to anyone especially the people of Dubai to get away from the hustle and bustle. Two members of staff who we must mention are Mr Housam Kamal the Executive Manager who's attention to all his guests is priceless and Dinesh in Bailico for his smile and attentiveness. Have re-booked to go back in 3 weeks and cannot wait!!

My stay at the Cove Rotana was pleasant enough but was slighly spoiled by a bit of false advertising - we opted for a one bedroom villa rather than a normal room because it appeared that it came with private pool. This is not the case - only the two bedroom villas have a pool. Otherwise the Cove is a fine hotel, clean, spacious, good spa, good fitness centre, appeared to be good for kids. The restaurant service and food quality is hit and miss. We waited 25 minutes for a (bad) salad and burger in an empty restaurant having told the waiter we were in a bit of a hurry because we had spa appointments and been told that that wouldn't be a problem. No apology when we pointed this out, just excuses (a salad takes a long time to make apparently). The Italian-esque restaurant has very enthusiastic staff but the food was only marginally better.

In summary, just an OK hotel at prices that are not cheaper than the better hotels in RAK such as the Hilton.

This is a gorgeous property...
However, it is completely undermined by a serious problem with sewage odor due to it's infrastructure engineering, design and execution. Sewage odor can be smelled in the room lavatory as a result of some kind of problem with ventilation in the sewer system or room ventilation. I was unable to pin it down precisely - the odor was not there all the time. It didn't matter if the air conditioning was running or not. It didn't matter if the bathroom exhaust fan was off or not. It was there sometimes and sometimes it wasn't.

Sewage odor may also be smelled whilst walking abou the property as one passes the steel access panels/covers in the pavement.

Management were informed. We requested candles/incense - these are not permitted due to fire hazard. OK, not unreasonable. A room change, (but no promise that the odor wouldn't be in the next room and no upgrade in effort to appease) was offered - this was declined as we had just arrived after a long journey and were already unpacked and very tired. They sent a guy around with some spray cans... this was declined. In the middle of the night, the smell was so strong it woke me up. I know that managment knows about this problem from speaking with staff. There was an electronic room deodorizer plugged in to the wall, but it's scent liquid had disappeared and therefore it didn't work.

In summary: We won't be going back and we have changed our plans to purchase (option available at this hotel).

A very nice hotel...the way its designed is just amazing!! the service needs a bit of improvement! parked the car, took them a while to have someone valley it. We were there on time, but they told us we had to wait 30min for our room to get rdy, and as usual it took more than that.

Rest of our experience was perfect, the pool is extremely nice, the rooms were clean, and the food was awesome.

Having travelled so many places around the world I have to say that this hotel exceeded all my expectations from arrival through to departure.A true 5 star hotel. Staff were amazing, food was excellent. Room service and beach restaurant was the equivalant of fine dining. The public areas were clean, bright and truly wonderful. The beach was like heaven. A truly wonderful experience thank you to everyone who made my stay so perfect. The staff were so courteous and helpful, and I defy anyone to give this hotel a bad review.
I am counting down the days tillI can go back, COVE ROTANA you ROCK !!!!!!!!!
If anyone wants to ask me any questions please feel free to ask away :-)

We stayed here with friends as a quick break before they moved overseas so that us and our kids could spend some time together. On arrival, our bags were left outside in direct sunlight in 40° heat! I had to contact reception 6 times to get them to put an extra bed in our room. The staff were very rude and embarassingly unorganised at every interaction. I can't quite believe how consistently bad the service was, it was a joke. In the bar, a waiter had to come and apologise for his behaviour... A simple kids lunch order turned into a shambles.
When we checked out I told them we were going to spend some time by the pool and have some lunch before leaving. When i went to pay i was told bill had already been settled, but they could not say who by or give me a copy of the bill. To top it all off, when i checked my bank account i found that they had overcharged me too. i will never go back and would not recommend this hotel. With such poor service it ruined the experience. I am now waiting for the manager to return my call to try and sort out the issues around the bill...
