It is disappointing that the teething problems we had read about in reviews prior to visiting the hotel still had not been rectified. The nagging issues were: no proper duvet cover - just some sort of sheet over the duvet which kept falling off, no service at all when we were in the cabanas near the pool, likewise no service at all at the beach, very slow service at breakfast and in the Lexington. Disappointing for such a 5 star brand.

Having said that the overall experience was very impressive and we left feeling very relaxed and glad we visited. The room was beautiful, as was the rest of the hotel, particularly the lobby, and the beach was great. The staff were very nice, particularly in the Japanese restaurant - faultless food and service. The spa was also fantastic - one of the best massages I have ever had.

We stayed here with 2 children towards the end of April. It is a beautiful hotel throughout, very clean and welcoming. There is a kids club so children were entertained and they also really enjoyed the pool. The furnishings and design of our room was gorgeous, lovely shower and bath, and separate dressing room. Beds were very comfortable and there was even DVD player in room so kids were happy come evening.
We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet, there was a great selection and we had lovely seating outside and the service was excellent in the restaurant.
We really wish we could have stayed longer.
Only downside was that service was fairly slow at pool bar.

Visited this hotel with a friend for a weekend of relaxation after a busy workweek. We heard about its opening and some good reviews and decided to test it out ourselves.

Service: Upon arrival you are shocked by the weird smell upon entering the hotel. Upon checking in we were informed that our room is not available and that we will be 'upgraded' to another room however without a sea view. Upon insisting to the receptionist that we will not accept this and wait for our room to be available, she walked to the back to the Egyptian manager it seemed who was scratching his belly while looking at us from afar waiting for us to accept her offer. After a few clicks on the system and talking back and forth our room SUDDENLY became available and we were rushed to the elevators and then left there to figure out how to get to our room by ourselves!
The hotel is huge and we struggled for several minutes to reach our room walking down the corridors searching for it. Of course no one escorted us to talk about the room facilities etc.
The room smelled weird too, cleanliness isn't up to standards of a 5-star hotel.

Rooms: Apart from that negative experience the hotel itself and decorations are beautiful. Rooms, Bathrooms, corridors and spaces are huge, and decorated to suite its beach location. Room balconies are small and do not allow enough sunlight into the rooms.

Food: We had ordered breakfast on one day, received it cold and looked like the chef was rushed in preparing it. pancakes looked more like cupcakes, eggs benedict the bread was tough, sauce rubbery, coffee was cold. We tried the Japanese restaurant which was also a disappointment, we love sushi and the sushi we were served there was substandard, teppenyaki was average and portions were too big. waiters were rushed too. However, the grill house was actually the only place we liked. waiters were friendly, food was actually good and had a nice terrace.

The hotel was busy with north and north-east europeans and workers were also mainly from the same nationality. we found both to be rude and pushy, too many kids running around and very loud. If you are planning for some alone time don't bother with this place. Good for kids and families.

Will most likely not recommend or visit here again. No true value for money and there are better resorts and hotels in RAK.

Room Tip: If you get a chance, sit out at the main terrace for afternoon tea before sunset.. All rooms are the...

Dear Fatema81,

Thank you for your review about your recent stay with us at Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah.

Indeed it is only through comments that we can strive to improve our hotel and services. I am concerned about the smell that you mentioned, there has been no other comments about this. I have raised your concerns about the arrival procedure with the appropriate department heads so that this does not happen again. Check-in time is at 15.00, depending on the occupancy of the hotel, we are often able to afford earlier check-in. Qasr al Bahar is a buffet restaurant with various live cooking stations where you can order freshly cooked products including eggs, bread and pastries. Rest assured that I have addressed your comments to all departments concerned in order to improve.

Once again, thank you for sharing your feedback and we hope that you will return to Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah in the future.

Yours sincerely,

The Waldorf Astoria in Ras Al Khaimah was absolutely perfect. We were upgraded to a king suite with pool and sea views. The room was nothing short of spectacular. The hotel was very clean and well presented. The staff was very helpful and knowledgable, something that can be hard to come by in the UAE.

While staying at the Waldorf we enjoyed the nine holes at the Al Hamara Golf Club, the spa and dining at both the iconic Peacock Alley and Lexington Grill (possibly one of the best prepared steaks in the UAE). For all of this we experienced exceptional and personal service. Needless to say I was sad to go!

Room Tip: If you can, opt for a room with view of the pool and sea. Absolutely lovely!

We stayed in this property over the weekend with the kids... first surprise was a VERY nice upgrade to a great suite, enough to fit the full family. Room had great views (floor 13), however windows could be little bit cleaner... Inside all was above what I expect of this kind of property.
Several pools (kids/no kids) with great staff and family tents, good choice of dining places, and above all, personalized service (Shiny and Philippe), who really walked the extra mile to make us feel welcome.
Looking forward to our next stay!

Fantastic hotel and resort. Brilliant service, perfect room with amasing view. Arabic restaurant on top floor served brilliant food, but dinner buffet on ground floor was a disappointment and way too expensive. Breakfast good. Not much to do apart from enjoying beach, spa and resort, but as such this is a great place.

We tryed several hotels in the region and this is the one we would recommend. Evening buffet is slightly overpriced but for the remaining part, this is a really great choice to spend one relaxing family week end not too far from Dubai. Ice waterpark is closeby too.
