“Great day out!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2014

We had an opportunity to stay for a day with family and kids, the experience from the check in and throughout every corner of the hotel was very welcoming and ejoyable Great choice of meal at main dining Qasr Al Bahar and Camelia lounge for evening coffee. Great team!

Property is stunning view especially in the night with beautiful lightings on the building, it resemble the real palace. Nice to see the Special clock in the lobby next to the peacock alley their lobby lounge. Beautiful and huge pool next to the big private beach.

Fortunately we had a nice fire work on the beach for some private function on the day of our stay was bonus.

Great experience!!!

Room Tip: Huge luxorious room, great choice of meal and service, you would enjoy the most with family.

Ras Al Khaimah is out to under-cut Dubai’s leading hotels on price with its superb new Waldorf Astoria on the Al Hamra beachfront, opposite the Marjan Island, RAK’s answer the Palm Island. This 346-room hotel is incredibly spacious and offers some of the UAE’s largest standard rooms, top-end service, great restaurants and a beautiful private beach.

It is hard not to be bowled over by the Hilton chain’s top brand, a knotch above the Conrad that opened in Dubai recently. The reception lobby has a specially commissioned clock tower that cost $400,000 and gives pray times as well as a stylish lounge area known as Peacock Alley. Both a special clock and this themed lounge area are found in every Waldorf Astoria in the world.

Peacock Alley

The RAK version of Peacock Alley has an outsized water fountain and twin Hollywood staircases and an exquisite marble floor. The other end of this long ground floor has shops and access to the all-day buffet dining restaurant with a fine terrace for an al fresco breakfast.

Head up to the 17th floor of the tower in the centre of this hotel and there is a smokey nightclub called 17 Squared, and somewhat lower down is a swish modernist Japanese restaurant. There’s also an excellent steakhouse on the ground floor (review here), an Arabic restaurant on the beach and Azure for light meals by the pool where my wife’s prawn wrap was described as the best she has ever eaten.

All the restaurants have private dining rooms and so are particularly convenient for company events or parties of national ladies. If we had to pick one area that the hotel could improve on it would be customer service. It’s not quite as on-the-ball as it is in Dubai, and for this level of hotel could be improved.

The rooms are the best part of staying in the hotel. We could not believe the 54 square metre standard room was the lowest rung of the ladder. Apparently the hotel was originally going to be an apartment building but that plan was changed three years ago when it was partly complete. Hence the very large rooms.

They have also been beautifully fitted out in a relaxed modernist style with a sea-inspired theme in blending of the colour palate. Choose one of many seafront rooms and you have a large terrace overlooking the Arabian Sea. The black marble and gold bathrooms are also extraordinary complete with locally made suites from RAK Ceramics whose famous factory is just down the road.

Imperial Suite

Our tour of the hotel took us up to the 442 square metre Imperial Suite on the top two floors of the hotel’s central tower. For the last word in lavish living this would be the place to stay. Arrive by helicopter from Dubai and there are three helipads so that a large family can all land at the same time.

For the more average guest the outdoor facilities are of greater interest. You have a huge sprawling pool suitable for families with children and an infinity pool with double-bed loungers and sunshades for adults. The spa and fitness room are also outstanding.

We can’t wait to get back to this away-from-it-all haven again for a long weekend. We arrived early because it is only an hour from Downtown Dubai on the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Highway. This hotel could easily become a firm favorite in the UAE.

Room Tip: Sea facing best unless you love golf!

Totally loved our stay at the hotel. The room, food and service all were top notch and exceeded expectations even for a brand like Waldorf Astoria. The Kids Club is an excellent service also provided complimentary with excellent staff that indulge the kids. The rooms are very nicely done with excellent amenities. Overall a superb stay with kids. Expensive but money very well spent...

We celebrated our 10th marriage anniversary at Waldorf and what a wonderful stay it was !! This is a premium property and quality is taken care in small things like toileteries , fittings , furnishings etc. We stayed in delux room with a golf course view and found the room to be luxurious enough to celebrate a special date. The breakfast was amazing with an excelkent spread . I was happy to see freshly squeezed fruit juices etc which is usually not the case . The beach is very close but not very clean. The swiming pools are excellent. We did not have lunch and dinner in the hotel as the kids preferred to have food in Al hamara mall close by which has excellent food options and Vox cinemas as well.
Only minor imrovement would be to fast track check in check out which easily takes an half an hour each.
Overall excellent value for money ( in the premium range) and great experience . We have stayed at few other hotels in RAK but this ticks most boxes and would be a clear no 1 in my view.

This is a top-class hotel. Extremely comfortable, wonderful restaurants, lots of outdoor sports, spotless, perfect service. My room was enormous, and my bed so large I could get lost in it. If I had any criticisms they would be that the choice of TV channels isn't that good for an international traveller, and that the gym is rather small. (This is more important to me than the outdoor sports, since I was working during the day and couldn't make any use of the outside facilities.)

We came to this Hotel in March this year. This pictures and facilities looked fantastic when we were searching for somewhere to stay in the area. We are so glad to have chosen this hotel. It is relatively new, they are on a learning curve, but that curve is only on the upward trend. You can spend vast amounts of money on rooms, hotel reception, furnishings, diamond encrusted peacocks ( the entrance to Peacock Alley). Money has not been spared here, but this is all cosmetic if the staff & hospitality are no good. Well, I am glad to say that the staff here are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble for them. Your human resource is your most important resource, & I am glad to say that the management team seem to have this at their ethos. The restaurants are fantastic, in particular the main buffet area where you have breakfast, Milicent & Francesa welcome you with broad smiles, the standard of food is very high. All the waiting staff are keen to ensure you have everything you need, or they will get it for you. (try to turkish delight chocolates). After our meal we would retire to Peacock Alley where Tanika & Irene would look after us most evenings, lovely girls with a very professional outlook & way of dealing with customers, they made our stay even more enjoyable. The housekeeping team were also very helpful, the towel art was particularly fun & great to see.
If someone were to ask me where to go for a lovely break, good weather, lovely facilities & staff who look after you, I would say Waldorf Astoria RAK every time. Keep up the good work & don't let your standards slip. Wayne & Avril
