The Mall has now been open for about 4 years, and although beautifully designed has struggled recently due to the ongoing refurbishment of the Al Hamra Fort hotel, and late opening of the Waldorf Astoria. That is, apart from Spinneys supermarket at the far end, which is a goldmine, and always busy. The food court at the other end comes to life in the evenings, but apart from the coffee houses, restaurants and banks, very few shops seem to be doing good business, especially on the first floor where empty shops are more the rule than the exception. They are hoping this will change, I imagine, with the opening of the Vox Cinema here later on this year, but I think more hotel rooms open will make a big difference. The best things here are Spinneys (with pork section for non-Muslims) and the Pharmacy, plus The Cellar, not part of the Mall but just down the road.
