“Had a good time....BUT”
Reviewed 2 June 2014

Travelled to this hotel last week in May. We arrived in the early hours of the morning and were shown straight to our room, told room service was free until 6am if we wanted food or drink and then left to figure out everything else for ourselves, no information was ever offered about where to find the pools, restaurants etc. We had a good time but there are some issues which need to be addressed urgently.
Firstly the showers, one minute freezing cold the next hot enough to scald, wouldn't want a child of mine using them.
Secondly, the saving of sun beds around the pool by people that never show up all day. There were beds available during the week but the influx of locals at the weekend meant it was get up early or go to the beach.
Thirdly, the lack of entertainment, pool service and bar service in general during the week. Thurs evening and Friday this is excellent ( when the locals turn up for their weekend breaks but is non existent the rest of the time) It was very noisy around the pool at the weekend with screaming children running around and jumping onto unsuspecting swimmers - could one of the three pools not be adult only?
The food is very good and the a la carte options are great although the lighting outside is too dark too see what you are eating and inside it is blindingly bright !
We found most of the staff to be very good but again at the weekend they served the locals before the people who had been there all week because the locals pushed to the front and demanded immediate service.
Overall we had a good week and the bed and the pillows were the best I have ever slept on... Would love to be able to buy the pillows for home!!

It was really much better than expected. It reminded me of those beautiful resorts in Turkey where everything is inclusive with a wide choice of restaurants and activities for kids. Food is very good and the beach is like a spa treatment.
On top of it, my 10 year old son went for waterskiing and we had unforgettable moments.
a hint: make sure to book in advance in the restaurants a la carte if you want a change of the all day dining restaurant.

This was my first holiday to Dubai and as it was a new hotel I was expecting some things to be a bit rocky but overall it was still an enjoyable holiday. But there were a few things that need to be mentioned

Entertainment - I had high hopes for it considering on the website it clearly states "Rixos Entertainment Square...enthralling dance shows, operas, acrobatics and other performances by artists of international eminence take the evening forward to a new level jubilation..." I stayed the week of the May half term 23rd - 31st and I can definitely say there was nothing to that standard! There was a female singer singing a few covers that were identical every night. Yes they may have those entertainers but they shouldn't pride themselves on entertainment on the website if none of them will be present especially in the school holidays. So that was a rather big disappointment for me. Apparently there were Cuban dancers but they went back to Turkey so clearly weren't replaced with anything to that standard. Also on holiday it's nice to hear some kind of disco as I read on the website also "The excitement rolls over from the Entertainment Square to the beach where you party until midnight. Dazzling performances and pulsating DJ music make the beaches of the man-made wonder of Al Marjan island come alive" Definitely no pulsating music quiet music was played at the bar then 11pm came and the music stopped, definitely no partying till midnight, this could easily be resurrected! There was a disco there on ONE night and it was a white party and that was brilliant they had the DJ from the inferno nightclub but that was one day, I assumed the excitement would be like that the whole week? Sounds a bit moany but I thought I would be 100% honest, I'm 19 and this is why I wanted to come to this particular hotel.

Accommodation - I can't fault cleaned to a high standard staff work all hours of the day incredibly hard considering the heat they have to deal with. Really spacious rooms, nice decor, though the showers were temperamental at times, sometimes the water would turn red hot and wouldn't go back down. Or no hot water at all.

Pool - It was nice didn't go in it very much though as from as early as 8am sunbeds were reserved with towels thrown over them, so nowhere to go. Although apparently it isn't permitted but nothing was done about it though. There were a few games if water polo going on in the mornings to get the guests involved. The sea was nice and warm, but yes the beach is very stoney and hard!!

Staff - Lovely staff, especially the entertainment team, Emre and Cigan in particular, didn't get any other names of the entertainment team, it wasn't really made clear who the entertainment team were.
But everyone I came across were lovely, though some of the staff at the a la carte restaurants were quite rude! Staff at the seven heights restaurant were lovely, polite, friendly, welcoming couldn't fault.

Food - It was nice a lot of choice but it was very samey at seven heights restaurant, apparently there were different themes each evening but it wasn't made very clear. The meat casseroles were very yummy! Breakfast was my favourite of all. Toast n Burger was my favourite special restaurant especially the cheesecake they served for pudding would recommend!

Guests - There were a definite lack of British guests, majority were Russian, German and Arabian and only a handful of British families. Maybe when more of the Brits come over the atmosphere will pick up.

Overall I did like this hotel but it is still early days so they need to listen to the feedback left on trip advisor and left at the hotel, they have everything they need to make this place even better, but they need to take the reviews on board. Maybe I would visit again when I know the necessary improvements have been made but still it was a nice week away!

We stayed here for five enjoyable days. One of its best points was the a la carte restaurants, the Meat Point in particular was superb, both the food and service being outstanding. To book a table you needed to do it before lunchtime the day before so it would be difficult if staying less than three nights. Something does need doing for those guests staying 1 or 2 nights. The main restaurant was also good with a wide selection of good quality food. Bars were generally ok, however at busy times you waited a long time to get served. The range of all inclusive cocktails and mock tails was limited to 4-5 drinks. Most bars ran out of diet coke.

The room was very spacious and clean with plenty of space for an extra bed, storage space was a little limited. We found the beds and pillows to be very hard and uncomfortable causing us to wake up with stiff backs and necks. We had the pillows replaced that improve things a little.

The beach was white crushed shells and coral which had been compacted, good because sand would not get everywhere but no good for sandcastles. At low tide there were lots of sharp rocks on the seabed making getting in and out of the water difficult, my wife and son both cutting their feet. There where plenty of sun beds and umbrellas even for busy periods. There were fridges with water and showers. If you wanted anything else you had to go to the bar in the hotel grounds.

The pool area was nice and had plenty of free sunbeds up to about 930 when they became scarce. Sunbeds and shades were good quality and comfortable. There was a very good children's pool at the bottom and a quiet pool at the top. The main pool had music being played a little on the loud side. If you wanted a drink you had to queue up at the bar which was essentially a serving hatch, the were no waiters bringing drinks to you which you would expect in a 5 star hotel. The entertainment staff organised various activities, darts, water polo etc and leant out balls and games.

For children there were excellent clubs, the teen club has play stations, boardgames, pool and table football free of charge. Overall staff were very friendly and helpful, especially at Meat Point. We found the hotel to be exceptionally clean, especially the floors. The guests were from a variety of countries, UK, Germany, French, Russians together with expats and locals.

We found the hotel to be uncrowded mid week but a weekends it turned Into a zoo, the staff putout extra sunbeds around the pool which almost met demand and the pool area became overcrowded, the music was turned up to deafening levels and pool activities almost non stop. Contrary to other reviews highlighting Russians as being badly behaved, the biggest problem was large groups of British expats who very load, inconsiderate of other guests, drinking heavily and smoking in the pool.

What was a nice hotel mid week turns into an noisy and overcrowded hotel at weekends almost causing me to give a 3 star rating.

7 of us stayed for 6 nights and as we travel worldwide 5 star and in this region that's Burj, Jumeirah Beach/Emirates palace/grosvenor house we have expectations. Arriving tired and grumpy on Saturday morning we were less than overjoyed when the previously requested early available rooms were not available, also the request for an early dinner reservation not accepted because (hello?) we did not yet have a room number (!) a visit to Guest relations sorted things out and afterwards it all got better.
The rooms were excellent and spacious with separate rooms and bathrooms although internet a bit wonky.
The restaurants were a)meat point excellent, good enough to go twice b)fish bone also very good c) Turkish excellent with great attentive service d) Italian good food spoiled by poor late service e) Asian restaurant bad start as our (reserved table) was given away to ignorant and aggressive party of Russians who aggressively occupied it in advance of us and then refused to leave ( pity restaurants don't stand their ground here, it wouldn't happen in London).
The beach was ok,the daytime entertainment pretty good. The comments about cocktails and branded drinks not included in ae package are rubbish, I regularly had Bombay Saphire gins and many cocktails were included.overall it was very nice, particularly for price paid so well recomended. Also Mr Pinto on reception gave excellent induction.
