One of my worst resort stays ever!
1. Which 5-star resort keeps guests waiting in lobby for 2 hours for check-in? I had to shout and beg to Mr. Ramy (duty manager) for a room! And i was with an infant!!
2. Which 5-star resort serves lacnor (tetrapak) juices to guests?
3. Seven heights did not have white sliced bread at breakfast time? And staff did not know what "sliced bread" is! Asking for wholemeal and brown bread was absurd!
4. Most of the food in Seven Heights buffet not labelled properly! Especially the vegetarian - hardly any vegetarian choices available!
5. Room service served Margherita pizza with a flour tortilla as the pizza base! Are you trying to fool your guests?

I can go on with my list of unpleasant happenings during my stay!

To sum it up - a horrible horrible experience!

It’s definitely not a 5 star facility, quality of food ruined the experience. Overly priced for what you actually get…
Rooms were spacious and well equipped
Pool area did not have enough pool beds or waiter service
Pool restaurant did not have sufficient tables always crowded, could not find a place there to dine
Service at the pool bar and mojito bar was good
If you are a seafood lover and expert do not visit the Fish Bone restaurant. They overcooked our fish twice even after sending it back. We asked for grilled and got it fried….
When we called to make a reservation they said 22h30 was the only time they had available, We accepted as we wanted to go to a seafood restaurant. On arrival the staff were looking at their watches saying you are lat as they close at 23h00. Then why would they give reservation at 22h30?? That could not be explained by the hostess
Service following that was extremely poor as they were more interested in setting the tables around us and an argument outside between a staff member and a guest. Nobody took our drinks order until we asked. Needless to say there was only one other table inside.
We left on an empty stomach that evening. Did not even bother with breakfast
Ate lunch at the burger place – nothing to write home about either.
I feel that they have this wonderful all inclusive package with meals and drinks to attract guests yet the quality of drinks and food is so poor……What’s the point??
Wont be returning, there are many other facilities in RAK with higher quality and better service

Room Tip: Ask for rooms in block 1, other roosm are furter away

Very nice place to spend the weekend. The all-inclusive package is fantastic with no hidden extras (even included mini-bar and night room service).
The rooms are spacious and clean, and the bed is comfortable.
The buffet offered for breakfast/lunch/dinner is good, with a good selection of food and drinks, however, the desserts selection is limited. The staff at the restaurant and pool bar was friendly.
The pool area is very nice and offers changing rooms/showers/kids play area. However, the size of the pool is quite small considering the number of rooms in the hotel, and it gets quite busy during the day (specially it is difficult to get a sun bed).
Many activities are organised by the hotel (water polo, fitness classes, parties, etc.) so guests get a lot of entertainment during their stay.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the garden are quieter, as the pool gets very busy during the day.

Having booked 2 rooms we were contacted about having a family room instead. Sounded great, 2 bedrooms and bathrooms and communal living area so we accepted.
Reality was a rubbish 2 bed (only one room had a door) and no living area. Not very impressive to start off with.
The AC didn't work in the room, the room was filthy and the furniture damaged meaning it was dangerous for my 14 month old baby. Not only that but i specifically requested a room that was near to facilities as I have a small baby, I am 8 months pregnant and my older parents were travelling with us. This room was a 10 minute walk from reception and 15 minutes from anything else
Having complained, we were moved to a far better located room which had more space but still no communal area so the parents were in one place and were were in the other all the time.
Our WIFI didn't work and we called 4 times and went to reception twice and it took 24 hours for them to tell us if we stand at the door we can connect but not in the room as there are not enough points in the building to cover all the rooms. Not very good at all!! This room was also filthy and I found 2 needles on the floor from an old seeing kit. Thankfully I found them before my little girl stood on them.
The other problem with the family room is that there is only one mini bar and one hair dryer. The second bedroom has nothing but 2 twin beds and a single chair. So, we thought we would have a nice little apartment style room as we were told on the phone and what we got was a master room and a crappy substandard room that kept us segregated from our family.
We then found out that half the eateries were not open and the a la carte ones that were, were fully booked for dinner so we had to have buffet food the whole time we were there. This normally would not be too much of an issue but the food was so poor that we hardly had anything to eat for most meals and I found myself eating chicken nuggets and salad as it was the one thing that was not bland, over cooked or vile looking.
The pool area would be lovely had it not been for the fact that the water in the pool was so disgusting and dirty. Floating leaves and flower a (which sometimes happens but looked like there was 3 days worth) and all the scum off people's sun cream and drinks in the pool. There was nobody bringing drinks around or handing out water or anything like that. Not very 5 star if you ask me!!
The children's pool area was quite nice for the kids, if only there were not Russian women walking around in thongs like it was acceptable in a Muslim country!! The pool was great for very little ones as it was only about 50cm deep. The kids club brought older kids around aged 10 to the area which I thought was wrong as there are little toddlers playing and the older kids were too aggressive and splashing around a lot but otherwise that was the only area that we found Rixos had done right.
In summary, the place was dirty, looked shabby, food was lousy, restaurants were closed, misleading advertising and generally not a 5 star. Was it good value for money? No. Not one bit. I was not drinking as I am pregnant and they told me I had to pay for sparkling water as it was not on the included list. I mentioned that I was not drinking any alcohol so was a "cheap" guest and they didn't care. Just another example of why it is not a 5 star in my opinion.

After reading several negative reviews regarding this resort we were a little apprehensive. After a ten night stay I can honestly say that this hotel is truly a 5 star resort. We arrived at 08.30 and were immediately shown to our room although check in was not officially until 3pm. The facilities were superb with 5 al a cart resturaunts available, we ate in them all and found the food and service outstanding. We also used the buffet which we again found to be of a very high standard. There are various bars throughout the resort and again I was very impressed with the service from all the staff, especially the staff at the Sea See bar who were so attentive and some of the nicest people that we have met. The cocktails were amazing and contrary to other reviews there are BRANDED drinks avaiable at no extra cost, yes they do use some alcohol that is not normally recognisable to
us but it is very good quality in some cases I found it more pleasing than the brands on offer.
Special mention must go to Dora and her staff who provided excellent service in both L Olivo and Aja restaurantsdespite some difficult circumstances. My wife and I happened to be present in the Aja enjoying a superb meal when two females complained about the food, I was disgusted in the manner of thier complaint and the level of abuse directed at both Dora and the chef. To our mind [we ate the same meal as these people and it was delicious ] bearing in mind it is all inclusive if you dont enjoy something, leave it and ask for something else simple.. Interestingly these people completely finished their meal before they decided to complain. Not everything will be to everones taste.
Although it was just my wife and travelling this resort is ideal for families.
Our housekeeper NASFAR was fantastic and always had our room immaculate
