New; room assigned was not ready - Cable TV not connected, etc. They moved us with an upgrade. Food and buffet has a lot of room for improvement. All staff need to know where everything is instead of directing you to another staff to know where the towels are in the pool area. Lifts in the main building is not enough; only 2 of 3 was working the whole time. They were still doing some work on them. A few more months and everything will be sorted, I guess.

Sorry to hear you faced an issue in the first room but happy that team responded with an upgrade. Improvements have been made on the Buffet, theme nights introduced, and we have just opened our new Brasserie. New indeed, surely more work to be done, but team very much on the ball. a nice looking hotel from the start, but inexperience from the staff was apparent from the outset. it hasn't been open long and I am sure things will improve, the staff were very willing but just lack customer service experience, rooms were very slow to be cleaned, they couldn't find my honors program? I had to access my e-mail which I had to pay for to get the number ! no remotes for the bar TV all lost ! reception thought a double bed meant two singles ? apparently I should have asked for a king size ?then tried to blame the reservation after I asked when I checked in ? my room smelled damp and it took a few but after the problems I saw that most of the staff were very willing and just lacked that final bit of training.

A good property, on the secluded part of RAK... Beautiful rooms (We had the Pool Facing Villa ones)..The Pools are pretty big and are quite fun, especially for families with kids. The private beach is OK.. Nothing great... The same problem as with other man-made island beaches in UAE: No Waves.. Now to the bad part.. Instead of letting us do an early check-in as requested by us, we were made to check-in to our rooms more than 2.5 hours after the official check-in time of 2PM. We waited in the lobby for nearly 3.5 hours, as we arrived at the hotel by 1PM. Then during check-out, I requested for a little late check-out, on account of the delay from the hotel in our late check-in; but was denied even a minute more than the contractual 12PM check-out. We felt the attitude very cold considering we spent close to AED1300/- for a night at this hotel. Also, the menu selection at the Marjan buffet can take a little upgrade. We have had much better buffets at cheaper hotels at half the price.

Inexperienced staff who seemed overwhelmed ... disappointing stay overall. Room was dirty and a horrible smell came from the bathroom. Check-in staff not helpful and could not offer another room ... had to deal with it for length of stay!! Facilities not well-maintained for a new hotel

The staff at the hotel could not have been more helpful and the facilities were fantastic for our family break. The hotel was busy but you never felt crowded due to the number of pools and the size of the beach. The inflatable assault course in the shallow water was great for the kids and the water sports on offer also provided additional fun.

We had checked into this hotel at very short notice having had a shocking stay at a neighbouring hotel and The Double Tree salvaged what would otherwise have been a nightmare.

We will certainly be going back here.
