We stayed at this resort hotel over the Christmas period 2013 and I have to say it is magnificent. We went all inclusive and, it turns out, that was the right thing to do as the price of drinks can get expensive in the hotel. However, what we were not told when we decided to go all inclusive (with Virgin Holidays) is that there is a reduced drinks menu and meal options. It was not clear to us what our dining options were (apart from the buffet). Turns out we were allowed to have a meal in the Italian restuarant and a meal in the Asian restaurant - other restaurant choices we could go to but would only receive a 70 AED discount (each) on the price of the meal. Mojitos, Singapore Sling and other rather nice cocktails were not available as part of the all-inclusive package but having said that, there were other options - Cuba Libre for example. My one gripe with the A-I package was the clarity of where to go to eat and what the options were - otherwise this would be a 5 star review. The staff were excellent, the hotel rooms large and spacious with great views and the place was spotless. Weather wise, this was UAE in winter and it barely got above 23 - 24 degrees. Not enough to tempt me into the pool or the sea although this didn't stop others from indulging. The hotel is large and I think we got the best deal as there are quite a large number of chalets along the (private) beach. The food - oh yes, the food in the buffet really was 5 star. There was everything you could ask for - from beef stews to roast turkey (for Christmas), and even bacon and pork sausages for breakfast. It's easily the best buffet experience I've ever had. Fruit, cakes, you name it, the hotel had it! We stayed 7 nights and didn't venture too far from the hotel - we did however, spend a day with a dedicated driver going round the sights of Dubai - from the Burj al Arab (no, we didn't go in!), to the Burj Khalifa, to the immense Dubai Mall, souks and lots more. The driver cost us about 700 AED (about 200 US dollars) for a 10 hour experience. Our driver was very knowledgeable about the city and I would recommend this type of experience to all. It has to be noted that this hotel is not in Dubai itself but is a 100 kilometre drive into Dubai. We had a wonderful time here and plan to come back again - when it's a little warmer.

This was our third stay here but we didn't like it so much. It is becoming worn and the drinks package offered with the AI was very poor. If we'd known it had changed we wouldn't have bothered. Depending on where your room is you can here the outside bars very loudly.

1.5 hour drive from Dubai. In a very basic town with no charm/character. Set in a basic bay with nothing else around it.
One side of the curve is the hotel, the other side- a set of villas belonging to the hotel with villa guests only having access to that part of the beach. Restaurants are located in both areas.

This hotel seems to suit those who like all inclusive hotels and is pitched at a 4* British/Russian/German target market who do not want to leave their hotel and are not interested in local culture. Virgin Hols has its own office space in the reception which kind of says it all. It is large, with a wide selection of restaurants which are good and varied, a couple of beach bars- which ironically close early evening so not much use during the evenings.

Rooms are reasonable but a little tired.

There are activities and a kids' club on-site- needed as there is nothing to do or see anywhere around. The spa is totally uninspiring and over-priced for what it is. No atmosphere and poor c/s.

The beach is not wildly inspiring and has no nice views and is made up of the typical row after row of sunbeds. There is an amusing if not tacky system whereby you can pay more to have a premium service and hotel staff reserve a sunbed for you in a prime position. 2 elderly savvy German couples meanwhile had worked out how to bribe beach staff to get the locations reserved they wanted...

If you just want an all-inclusive hotel with guaranteed sun at a reasonable price, no culture and no real character- this may suit you. Anyone looking for a real 5* hotel, not wanting to be lined up on sun-beds en masse- and wanting culture- avoid this place like a barge pole. And if I were the Hilton Group- I would not use the same name for this type of resort hotel- as it does brand damage to the much better (usually) city based 5* Hiltons.

We looked much forward to our 2 week all inclusive family holliday at RAK Hilton. Unfortunatelly the holliday did not come out as the "Luxury family holliday" as our travel agent described....

The room was ok, but just ok. Not enough storage for 4 persons and the cleanlinnes was not the best possible. I dont think the full carpett room had seen a wacum cleaner for a while. We found some earrings belonging to a former resident and under the beds the view was gruesome...

The pool are was nice. The children loved the pool and specially the water slide.

The service was frendly and helpfull, but unfortunately not very good.... The waitors brought water to the table, but no glasses. The glasses came after 5 min. When asking for something to drink you could expect a 5 min service time, if the order was not lost... We had a total of 28 lunches and dinners in the Maarid restaurant, and this was a daily problem...

But the worst was the food... The Buffe had a sufficient variety of different dishes, but unfortunatelly very fiew of them where as tasty as they should have been. The most popular dishes where pizza slises and pasta. This in the restaurant of a 5 star restaurant... The New Years eve dinner was excelent. Which proves that the staff can produce good disches, but not on a daily basis....

Dont take me wrong. Everythibg was ok. We did not suffer from mailnutrition and did eventually get something to drink. But put expectations where higher and this ok performance was a disappointment.

Stayed for two nights during a long weekend. Nice rooms, great service, amazing beach and pools. Would recommend to everyone who wants a short city break. Would not recommend for longer stays as there is not much to do around the hotel compared to what other hotels in neighboring emirates of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah have to offer.

Eight days at Hilton RAK resort to end our UAE New Year experience. While our favorite Hilton remains the Los Cabos Beach and Golf resort in Mexico for value and amenities, we could not have asked for more when it came to the professionalism and sincerity of the hotel staff in Hilton Ras Al Khaimah. Special mention and a big thank you to Ajeev, Geo, Rameez and Sarina in food and beverage, and concierge Chaudry. Your warmth and personal attention helped make our holiday memorable and special. Recommended for families, as a safe environment and children are adored. It is perhaps not so quiet for couples.

We stayed on a Platinum all inclusive basis with club room benefits over new year. From the moment we arrived the service was excellent and nothing seemed to much trouble. Friendly and efficient staff throughout the whole complex. A great effort was made to make New years eve special. The a la carte restaurants are first class. Special mentions sould be made to Medo and Ashaisih great friendly barmen and waitresses Joy,Charity and Christina Mae also Renate on reception. This is a large complex but the concierge service is excellent and run shuttles between the whole resort. This stay was so good we have re booked for our Honeymoon.
