“Great friendly staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 April 2010

We booked to stay at the Hilton Ras Al Khaimah resort for 10 nights through Virgin, and had no problems at all.

On arrival, Dubai had had some freak weather and everywhere was flooded, so our journey by coach took a little longer than usual ( a good couple of hours), we were glad to finally reach the hotel.

We stayed in a Deluxe seaview room on the 5th floor, lovely views across the whole resort. The room had very comfortable beds, sofa, coffee table, desk, flat screen TV , mini fridge, tea making facilities, in-room safe, hairdryer, bathroom had double sinks, great bath and shower and lots of crabtree and evelyn toilettries,

We've stayed in many hotels and have never come across such friendly staff!!
Always saying "Hello" and trying to make your holiday the best it can be!
The staff work very hard, long hours, but still remain to keep smiling.
Even the chefs from the restaurants come and have an after dinner
chat to the hotel guests, which we thought was exceptional service.
If you go to move any sundbeds or parasols for yourself, the pool staff are there
before you know it, and are moving them to wherever you wish, such good service!

We never had any trouble finding a sunbed, and I can't see how you would with so many to choose from. Everyone seems to find their favourite spot and ours was around one of the pools near the "villa" end of the resort, next to the Dhow bar......also our favourite lunch place.

We went all inclusive and like many reviwers before have said, it's the best choice.
We always had breakfast at the Maarid restaurant (buffet style), sitting outside, plenty of choice of food, and have as much or little as you like.

Only certain restaurants are included in the All inclusive package, but you also get an allowance towards the other restaurants, which we took advantage of quite alot and hardly ended paying any extra at all.

One of our favourites for dinner was the Italian restaurant Piacere del Gusto.
(Thanks to the staff here.....very good friendly service )

We booked a taxi for the day to Dubai through the hotel reception, it cost us £120
from 10am until 9pm the driver spoke English and took us to all the sightseeing places we wished to see. He took some great memorable photos of us and was very good at recommending some places to go.

If you are looking for a nice relaxing holiday in the sun at a luxury resort with great staff, this is for you. There isn't much outside the resort and it is about 1hr 30mins to Dubai.

I'd be happy to answer any questions I can.

Firstly, let's start with the positives: This hotel is now fully opened with just minor construction to one small area at the far end and we did not experience any noise at all. Quiet, secluded location with spacious, well furnished and spotlessly clean rooms. Wonderful sea views and good size balcony. Large well appointed bathroom with a view into the room!! The pools are absolutely gorgeous, at least five different styles/types of pool to suit everyone. Always found a sunbed, always saw a pool towel man (others have made coments about not seeing one). 500 sunbeds around the pools, spaced out and most have parasols, 900 sunbeds on the beach (all with shade). Beautiful spa which we unfortunately didn't get time to visit as well as a massage 'tent' on the beach. Yes people still do place their towels early in the morning in their favourite spots and turn up at lunchtime but until the hotels are strictly with their 'no reservation' policy this will continue. Food was very good and varied. Also other restaurants available should you want a change, the hotel offer a discount to fully inclusive customers in these other restaurants. Good brand name drinks, G & T was Bombay Saphire for example and nice white wine too.
Jimmy the Virgin Rep was very good and accommodating more so when he was selling an excursion to you though. We had a very good day out in Dubai with a private driver costing in total £65 each, which includes fast tract entrance to Wild Wadi (a water park). Caution Wild Wadi only has 8 rides, two most people won't be able to do, surfing in a very fast wave pool, a freefall ride through a shute which health and safety need to visit!! one ride wasn't inoperation on the day we visited and a couple of others which were practically the same, and a wave pool. It is really not somewhere I would recommend going to for the day you only need about two hours to do the rides it is quite small and the drive to the park is nearly 1.5 hours away. Highlight of the day, afternoon tea at the seven star Burgh Al Arab (next to water park) £100 for one adult and one child, but definitely a great experience, seven courses and a glass of champagne in an outstanding hotel, need to be smartly dressed, not good when the water park we had just left did not have hairdryers!!

Just a few small gripes: probably next time would stay nearer to Dubai, waited a long time every morning and evening for staff to serve drinks/tea/coffee. We experienced a vast number of staff who looked very sullen and fed up and some very happy people too (Alex makes a mean Pina Colada at the Sunset Bar). We heard that when the hotel opened a further 275 rooms last October they had not recruited enough staff and the present staff were working six day a week, at least 15 hours a day. Don't let Jimmy oversell to you, he always gives you 'the best driver' and sells you the water park over the Atlantis Hotel waterpark. Would have been good to have free internet I didn't see that anywhere.

All in all had a great time and the little gripes above did not spoil any part of the holiday for us, just would have been nice to have a few more smiling staff.

As always we checked TA for reviews and opinions before booking at this hotel and previous reviews swayed us into booking here for 10 nights in Mar 2010 and we were not disappointed at all!

Yes this is an older fashioned looking Hilton hotel but looks are the only old fashioned thing about it.

The staff are amazing! Nothing is too much trouble...EVER! Our last holiday was a Cunard cruise round the carribean and we were a little worried that our next holiday wouldn't match up to that but the staff here made sure that wasn't the case. Every member of staff we encountered here and at the beach club were so helpful, polite and courteous that it really made the holiday. Kumar, our waiter in the restraunt even arranged for a special meal to be created for us on our anniversay which was lovely.

The food was wonderful in all venues and the pools and beach club were gorgeous too!

The place was kept very clean and tidy and compared to hotels in Dubai we have previously stayed in this really met the same standards, and exceeded them in the staff service department!

I see previous reviewers have moaned about Ras Al Khaimah being 'in the middle of no-where' well, surely they would have found that out before they booked it?! This is a perfect place for a totally chilled out relaxing break and the days we went to Dubai it didn't take us more than 1 hour each way.

We've already booked to go back for 2 weeks and can't wait!

For a familiy reunion we visited with 3 families and had 3 beach villas/floors for 6 adults and 2+3 children. Great stay, very friendly and helpful staff, fantastic swimming pools and quiet armosphere, but do not expect a nightlife. Location isolated, but shuttle bus to Hilton/Ras for shopping, low price taxis available (also to hidden liquor store) and car rental available in Hilton downtown e.g. for self drive trip to Dubai. Furthermore nice golf course.
Asa frequent traveller I can recommend this hotel and we will for sure return.

Stayed for 5 nights, wished I booked for longer!
We were all inclusive and I would recommend this as drinks are expensive.
The food in all the restaurants are excellent, the staff are so friendly and always saying "hello".
If their was a downside you need to get your sun bed as people put towels on them from around 7.30 am,if you arrive later no sun beds and towels are all gone.
Although the staff will try to get you beds from the beach if required but you may need to wait for towels.
Would definately go back five star.

After reading some of the below reviews, I'm convinced that some have confused this hotel with the Hilton Resort and Spa, which guests do have access to for a much bigger and better pool, beach access, newer hotel.
Before booking this hotel we called to see if the rooms would be cheaper to book in person or on booking.com, after being told that we were getting a better deal on booking.com we proceeded to book, noticing 5 minuted later that if you book online IT IS HALF THE PRICE THAN WHAT THEY OFFER IF YOU PHONE. We even got an even better deal for half board (DBB) for 630dhs net- handy since there's nothing to do in RAK.
Upon arriving at the hotel in the late afternoon, there was noone waiting outside to direct traffic or help with bags, but the reception were extremely welcoming and check in took just a couple of minutes.
The non smoking room we entered reeked of stale smoke (the bathroom smelled of something far less pleasant) a quick call to reception and 5 mins later, another room key was delivered to our door- the smell was so bad though, I was ready to vomit after just 5 mins. The next room was much much nicer, not much of a view but I wouldn't think any of the views would be great.
The pool area is nice, nothing fancy.
The buffet dinner was good but noting too special, same for the breakfast buffet... the place is full of package holidayers which can be more than a little frustrating for independant travellers to trip over them all the time. But the staff were extremely pleasant and happy to help.
A big surprise, and maybe a good indication of the type of hotel it is, was the knock- off designer shops on the ground floor, and interestingly enough, the staff didn't even pretend that they were the real thing.
To be honest this hotel is fine, not great and not luxurious, but if you don't mind sleeping in a place like that and driving for 5 mins to the other hilton to use the facilities- it's really a great deal and the staff are fantastic. If it's a romantic getaway you want, maybe book a room at the other Hilton.
I feel the need to mention that RAK is tiny so I'm not surprised that this hotel ranks so high, I am definately dure it will be among the best.

A lovely hotel with superb facilities. No negative comments to say as everything was just perfect and we have stayed at other top notch hotels previously in Dubai such as the Mina Al Sayem previously . We stayed at this hotel for five nights prior to cruising on a Costa cruise from Dubai and quite frankly after cruising for a week very quickly came to the conclusion that we wished we had stayed the whole time at the hotel.
