“Nice hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 November 2013 via mobile

Enjoyed staying here! Nice service and everything. Tip: there is gym with modern equipment and great view from the window on 11th floor and swimming pool on the roof. Breakfasts were tasty but a little monotonous. The location of the hotel is good enough, many cafés nearby. Bus shuttle goes around 15 minutes to the beach.

The photo of the hotel, from the park across the road, presents it in a far more flattering light than it deserves. The reviewer who mentions the half-paved roads was right. Unfortunately, this kind of solid dirt surrounding is far too common in Sharjah. You also need to beware of the one way system around the hotel. They didn't keep my passport because I demanded it back before I left check-in. The room was tiny and the view of the wall opposite did nothing to add to the feeling I had made a mistake. The room smelled stale and bed was awfully hard. One night was enough. I decided to try room service breakfast and out went the door hanger at 10.30pm. Next morning the breakfast failed to arrive so I called down to find the room service staff alleging they had not received it. I certainly wasn't waiting any more time for them to sort out their act. I got something at the nearest petrol station. Four stars? No it isn't. And for those who want to be near Dubai, don't even think of coming here. The traffic between Sharjah and Dubai is horrendous and you would have to have a pact with the Devil to drive here.

Room Tip: Book a suite.

I am writing this review, and I am not frustrated at all. I just hope the hotel would honestly review the rating they give themselves or improve themselves to match other 4 star hotels. The staff is nice, but they hold your passport for some weird reason (it is illegal), but they try to get around it by saying that they only keep it to scan it. The room is clean, but awfully small. It is the smallest room I have ever been to in my entire life. It is a place where you sleep and that's it. You cannot even find a space where you can stretch. The Air Condition is a disaster; if you turn it on, you freeze to death no matter how much you adjust it, and if you turn it off you sweat. So my wife and I kept turning the air condition on and off during the day and night so we do not freeze or sweat (it was also loud). I asked for extra blankets, which were given to me without a problem. The buffet breakfast was a joke, very limited and the food was blaaa. I did not even eat there the second day even if it was free, because I was not too excited about that food. The food we ordered in our room was reasonably priced and it was tasty. Other things that do not qualify this hotel to be a 4 star is the partially paved parking/road, the so called kids club that has a little carpet and plastic table with 4-5 chairs and a play station that was not connected until we asked for it. Some other good things are the free internet and nice staff, but they are not very honest about reasons why they hold your passport.

Room Tip: Get the biggest suite they have or you will be given a box room.

Save money and receive some of the best service possible, by staying at the AlHamra. We hired a private driver and the 25 minutes in non-rush traffic was a great exchange to save a lot of money. They serve full breakfast. The rooms are very clean. Choice of smoking and non-smoking. The laundry service will pick up clothes and return next day or same day, if pick up is early morning. The building is not to be believed and their attention to their guests wishes surpass many countries that we have stayed in.

This AlHamra is NOT owned by the same company that owns the one in Dubai, which is not a place we would recommend, due to high prices and nasty attitudes.

Room Tip: For a room with a wonderful view, ask for one at the front of the hotel that overlooks the park acro...

We stayed at the Al Hamra at the end of a holiday where we had selected two other hotels belonging to major international chains. This little but very dignified property probably gave us more of a local flavour, and for a lower price.
We found our room to be very clean and provided with all the expected amenities. If anything, the room (and the beds) were slightly on the small side, but still acceptable. The building is fairly new and so are all fittings and furniture.
Staff were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant provided sufficient quality for the average price paid.
A curiosity, for us, was the times of access to the roof-top swimming-pool, which are separated by gender, in line with the local Muslim tradition. This, however, can be a drawback for a family who wishes to spend a little time together by the pool side.
General customer service could do with little improvements here and there, such as for example the early-morning provision of complimentary newspapers to the rooms where guests explicitly request for them.
Still, our experience was overall very pleasant.

I was suprised to see the hotel upon our arrival especially when we got to our room, it's lovely, cosy and neat! love it! For the amount of money I paid, it's really worth it! We stayed 2 nights and given a chance to go back to Dubai, will stay in this hotel again. It is very new, barely 2 months old. The staff are very friendly, the bell boy is extra helpful. They have free wi fi at the lobby and free internet connection in the room.
It only takes 10 dinar to get to the nearest big mall, the City Centre, it's huge and they have the carefore supermarket with everything I need, spices, nuts, dates (all types) and they have a bargain center with all sorts of stuff.

Room Tip: Request for a 1 bed, especially if you are a couple, bed is big with a big plasma tv.

I booked this hotel due to the 4 star rating... it was more like a 2 star i believe. First entry into the room it was about 90 degrees and a strong smell of mildew was present. The room was quite small and there was only a half door in the shower allowing all of the shower water to go straight onto the floor! My husband did not want to change rooms as we were just showering and sleeping there.. i would have suggested to switch rooms immediately if it were just me. Sharjah is a non-alcoholic city right outside of Dubai so if your looking for an area to relax and have a few drinks this area is not for you. It also cost us 60-85 Dhrs each way everytime we took the taxi to Dubai.... that adds up going back and forth for a week's stay! If you are going to enjoy Dubai do not stay this far away!!!! There is no metro in this area so your only means of transportation is taxi unless you rent a vehicle. We only had 1 taxi driver who knew the location of this hotel..... so i'm sure we paid out more due to that fact when the drivers couldn't locate the hotel. Hope this helps!

Room Tip: Read all reviews and base them to what your looking for during your stay.
