It tries to recreate the route and history of the UAE trade. looks a bit monotonous but that's how the Museums look like. The place is charmed by the oldest pearl existing, so you might have the pleasure of watching oldest pearl existing in that way. but is a decent place for the teenagers to learn and understand the old trade routes and how early Emirati lifestyles looks like.

A bijou museum, with many old dhows - (there used to be dozens of different types in operation) - and many beautiful scale models of others. Plus artefacts from the fishing industry, in the days when people used to make their fish-traps from palm-fronds; and from the pearling boats, when men dived 30m to bring up oysters with no other equipment than a nose-clip and some leather finger-guards. The exhibits are well-labelled in both Arabic and English, with just enough information to be interesting and not enough to overwhelm. Plus there are occasional video displays and games for kids.

A pleasant building, air-conditioned, costs 10D to get in. An agreeable way of passing an hour or so - and very uncrowded: I was the only visitor there.

Located at Husband avenue, Sharjah , the maritime museum is single big hall with free entry and quite well led our artifacts. It shows the maritime roots of the Emirates and the sea going life in the gulf, especially about the pearl diving and trade.
