“Beautiful property, brimming with life”
Reviewed 2 September 2013

Excellent bed and breakfast on a beautiful, well-groomed property adjacent to a lemon grove. The whole property is brimming with life; gardens, flowers and lemons are everywhere you look, the owners have a handful of friendly dogs (both inside and outside), and the pond has a fantastic variety of birds.

The rooms themselves have high ceilings and a rustic charm. The common room has games and a comfortable fireplace. Decorations and art are somewhat quirky. There is a well-kept pool and several places to relax outside in the shade.

The dinner and service were excellent. We had several courses of grilled meat, potatoes, salad. Breakfast was simple: fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee, croissants, yogurt and granola, cold cuts and cheese, marmalade and dulce de leche.

A little bit far from town if you don't have a car, but not too bad if you have transport. It is a moderate walk to a decent nearby beach. The property itself is beautiful and restful.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms are pricier but have a view of the lemon grove, the water and the sunset.

We visited Casa de los Limoneros a couple of weeks ago - what a gem! We had no idea what to expect and unlike most, we actually had not read any reviews and had done absolutely no research. It was recommended to us by another great hotel in Buenos Aires, so we went! Just simply AMAZING, the house and the grounds are oustanding, the owners are so nice and hospitable, everything was just perfect!

We were meant to stay one night, and we ended up staying three, I would go back in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: I would definitely recommend the room on the second floor with the balcony overlooking the lemon gro...

As a wind down after the city this place is perfect. Very peaceful with beautiful views all around of the lemon farm. Friendly people runnning the casa and good food especially the breakfast. I wish I could have stayed longer.

Room Tip: We had an upstairs room with a balcony looking over the lake and the lemon trees. It was lovely to w...

I think that the photos of the Pousada do not do it justice as it is even nicer in the flesh. We stayed with my husband's parents and the rooms were beautifully decorated (great bath!) and the beds were super comfy. Mario was incredibly helpful with tips about where to go in the local area and we could have done with a couple more days there just to enjoy the setting around the house, as it is stunning. The breakfast was tasty and I recommend staying in for dinner one night and eating their roast medley of meats. Starve yourself beforehand and leave room for the lemon meringue pie!
I recommend hiring a car if you stay here so you can easily move around the area. I am definitely coming back.

We had an awful experience at Los Limoneros, so I can only give it a review that reflects our experience.

1) We got robbed. My girlfriend's brand new shoes were missing when we left. When we called the hotel owner to ask about the shoes, he totally lost his temper and "rudeness" would be an understatement. He insulted and cursed at my girlfriend.

2) The walls are too thin. We could clearly hear what was going on in the room next door.

3) Method of payment did not work. They wouldn't take any of our credit cards despite the fact that they assured us before booking that they would, so we had to drive 20 minutes to an ATM (2 ways). They didn't even give us a receipt.

4) They had a menu and what was actually served to us was 50% of what was offered.

Point #1 was the worst by far. Not only did we get robbed, but also were cursed at. We had a really bad experience at Los Limoneros.

I think I'll find it hard to have a happier moment than arriving at La Casa de los Limoneros with my friends as the sun set over the sea behind this stunning house. Mario and his lovely staff took exceptional care of us, but also let us enjoy our time together in this gorgeous space. Nights were spent chatting in the living room over copious amounts of red wine, cosy between a huge fire and an equally large log burner, and days were spent walking amongst the lemon trees, trying (failing) to burn off a small portion of the delicious meals. A very beautiful place to share with special people. Our thanks to Mario for his hospitality.
