Description: We offer a local cuisine based on the best artisanal products of Colonia, in the most emblematic street of the old quarter of Colonia del Sacramento, the “Barrio Sur”, a World Heritage site, in a typical house of Portuguese construction of early 1700s. Wines of local vineyards, artisanal cheeses, homemade jams, olive oil, spirits, grappas, and typical pastries are part of the menu, to take or to taste at the store. Whether in a small and intimate room or at the courtyard, you can taste different appetizers based on a selection of artisanal local cheeses served with sweet and sour sauces, combined with salami, sausages, ham, vegetable tarts, and chicken brochette. In winter, homemade soups of onion or pumpkin; in summer, salads.

Situated in a dark little street in old Colonia, without any signs to indicate it, this romantic small winecellar is THE place to have a peacefull and tastefull dinner for a good price, outside of all the touristy expensive places. Staff is very attentive, there are a variety of pecada and wine menues (different cheeses, meats, quiches, olives, combined with chicken brochettes etc.) to choose from and you are surrounded by splendid wines you could taste! However, do mind your head, the ceiling is quite low. You could sit outside as well, in a small courtyard. It's wise to if possible reserve ahead, since they do not have many tables. We would definetely go back here again when we visit Colonia!

This is a real "hole in the wall" place - and if you aren't looking for it, you would NEVER find it - and that would be your loss! It is a GEM!

On the Road of Sighs, with no real visible sign until you are "right on it", and with a door that I even had to bend to enter (I'm 5'7") this place has all we wanted and more. We wish we could have had another chance to visit.

They are really just a tapas bar with excellent wine of all varieties. The food is fresh (visualize them pulling a wheel of cheese off of the shelf next to your table) and prepared to order with wonderful options for sampling different things.

And the wine selection is extensive.

Combine all of this with the cozy atmosphere (I think we counted that they can seat about 15 people at total capacity) and it has charm that oozes in every corner.

Reservation is very much recommended.

This wine bar is one of the most photographed streets in Colonia but the wine bar has a great little tucked away patio to enjoy a wine after a day or touring the city. We were in Colonia from about 10 am - 5pm, we took the early ferry from BA. I would suggest this as more tourists take the later ferry so you feel like you have the town to yourself. We put in reservations for later that day right when we arrived. We actually go to the wine bar early and our table was ready. The waiter was very helpful in picking good wines and snacks.

This nice and cosy place is where we found the real Uruguayan food. The menu gives you a chance to tase different cheeses, sausages, pies etc, and you can also choose to taste different wines from local producers. The little restaurant doesn't take creditcards, but you can pay in local pesos, Argentinian pesos or US dollars. Luckily our waiter spoke English, so we got good information about the local products.
