“A white coffee for 6,35 € (150 UYU)”
Reviewed 9 January 2013

Even with a nice beach view and a friendly service 150 UYU (more than double than what you pay in the centre) is absolutely ridiculous. Even the waitress agreed!
This is half the price of a fish main course on the menu. I don't know how the boss does his maths.

“Don't even...”
Reviewed 26 March 2012

We were walking along the beach (discussing the brown water!) and found this place. Great location – great view. How could we go wrong? Easy. The food was horrible. I ordered chicken with stir fried vegetables. I was told that they only had one vegetable left, so I ordered it with local papas. The wait was long, but I assumed fresh food, so that did not bother me. We got two plates of thin slices of grilled chicken that had not one drop of juice left in them. Dry as the proverbial bone. And no seasoning – nothing. The potatoes were basically thick sliced, fried potato chips. Edible since we were hungry, but that was the most positive thing I could say. Then to top it off, the prices were outrages for local (Buenos Aires) prices. The two lunches – with 2 cokes – came to over $US40. We have had great grilled steaks, salad, fries and 2 glasses of wine each for less. I rarely fell totally burned. But this was certainly one of them.

“Poor hygiene”
Reviewed 3 March 2012

We considered the place for having diner but because the service was so slow (there was only one waitress and a guy who's job it seemed to hit on American girls) and poor hygiene from toilet to bar we decided to go elsewhere.

“Great Location”
Reviewed 17 January 2012

Sadly, the Puerto Tranquilo is the only restaurant on the beach in Colonia. The initial enthusiasm with which they opened a few years ago has since waned. They no longer open regularly and the quality of the food has diminished but the prices have not.

All that aside it´s a great place to sit and watch the sunset over the river while sipping on a cold beer or a scotch on a summer evening.
