“Charming location but overpriced”
Reviewed 3 October 2013

Great location and charming but way overpriced for the size of rooms and amenities. We asked for a triple room and basically got a tiny room with three single beds a which seemed even smaller than a standard twin bed. Very basic. No phone in room either. Would not recommend for the price.

Our room had the smell of mildew and the breakfast was poor. The staff did not appear to make much interest in whether or not guests enjoyed their stay. The location was excellent in the beautiful old historic district of Colonia, but there are better places to stay

We had initially booked the hotel for two nights but when we saw what we were getting for our money, decided to move to the Youth Hostel down the road for our second night. For what you get, the rooms are grocely overpriced, especially comparing to similar quality places we stayed during out trip. The rooms are tiny, have no windows and give onto a rather dark central patio making them quite noisy. The whole is hotel feels quite cramped and the breakfast is nothing special. It is on the central square but Colonia is not a big city so it's worth staying somewhere else!

If u go to Colonia del Sacaramento u might be looking to stay at a place as La Mision. Quite, house kind of hotel , with personalized attention.
It is a cute place, though rooms are small, they are ok to stay.

It is in the heart of the old city in front of PLaza Mayor.

I recommend to stay here, if you are looking for an old refurnished house kind of hotel

We were on a tour of South america and this was chosen and booked by our travel agent, but we thought we were going elsewhere till 3 days before the trip. This could be a zero or a 5 star rating depending on what is important to you. For us, a family of 3 on a long trip with luggage - it was no good at all. The room - the hotels largest- was 10 ft by 12 ft. With 2 beds in it. There was a small cupboard, with 3 coat hangers in it - but it was not wide enough for the hangers!!! There was no other storage space at all!!! So it was not possilbe to un pack- but there was also no where else to put the cases except on the bed. So getting ready for anything was impossible. Also the room was FREEZING! The heater did not work properly and the single person in charge could no speak English so did not really understand. We did get blankets. Because the room was so small and so cold we had to stay out of the hotel all day and night but to sleep. That would not normally be a problem, but we struggled for things to do in the town of 4 days- only stay 1 night unless you are gong to get a car and explore further afield.

The breakfast was good on the first morning, but got progressivly worse, as things ran out each day.

The hot water did not last long enough for 3 showers- my husband had a cold shower each morning.

The bathroom was tiny and in great need of updating.

The really positive thing was its location. It was right in the old square and perfect. So if you can put up one star accomodation for a 5 star location it might be the place for you. Otherwise I forget it!!

My advice for anyone on a tour would be to do the city in a day trip from BA, and spend extra days either at the Iguasu Falls or on an Estantia!!

My husband & I stayed at La Mision for only 1 night in the one of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited; Colonia del Sacramento. The hotel was very quaint and felt very authentic and beautiful (its in a refurbished eighteenth century house). Your stay includes a basic breakfast that is served on the loft level of the reception area. We stayed on the main level off the courtyard, the room was tight but still comfortable with a lovely mix of the original old stone wall with modern pops of colour in the bedding. The bathroom also had a partial stone wall - the bathroom was small and to be honest really needs an update as it felt dingy and old, however it served its purpose. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is absolutely beautiful, located right on the Plaza Mayor, surrounded by gorgeous tree-lined cobblestone streets surrounded by history. Many shops & restaurants located basically at your doorstep.

Room Tip: Rooms on the courtyard level are recommended if you have large luggage as there is no elevator up to...
