There are lots of travelers here due to lonely planet's listing. It's relatively cheap (we paid 22$), but the rooms are really bad value. We looked at 5 or 6 rooms before choosing the least bad one. Leaky toilet, dirty shower, cracked toilet seat and a broken bed. The next night we stayed at the new Abdulrahman guesthouse 400m down the road which belongs to the same family. For 3$ more we could stay in a much nicer room here. Positive things about Bahodir: great location, friendly people, lots of travellers to talk to and a fairly good restaurant.

Room Tip: If you decide to stay here, don't take a room around the courtyard. It's very loud.

Abdurahmon guesthouse is owned by the son of Bahodir, we spent 3 nights there, the room was awesome and clean, the staff was incredibly polite and helpful.
The price is a bit higher ( we got double room for 30usd) than Bahodir, but the bathroom is a lot cleaner and comfortable.
And it is 5 minutes walk from
Bahodir, you can go to Bahodir anytime drink a cup of tea and have dinner.

Their rooms are average, but the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The location is very good, it's situated really close to the Registan and Siyob Bazaar.

Here you may meet a lot of backpackers who could help and tell you a lot about traveling all around the World.

The breakfast is changing every day. Sometimes it's very good, sometimes unfortunately not.

This famous B&B has fantastic location - just few steps to Registan Square, 10-minutes walk to Bibi Hanym Mosque and to the famous Samarkand Market.
It is typical Uzbek house with inner yard. I spent most of my free time in inner yard, because it was quit, cozy, beautiful place with authentic Uzbek atmosphere. Every time when I appeared in the yard, staff member brought me tea, water-melon, jam and cookies - for free. It was very kind and nice, I felt myself like I stayed not in a guesthouse, but in a house of my friends.
I ordered dinner for 4 dollars and enjoyed typical local food - simple, but tasty. Every evening big company of travelers collected together around big table in the yard. What a stories, what an experience, what a company! Just fantastic.
My room was rather basic, with old-fashioned furniture. Bathroom was more than basic, but with hot water. In any case it was comfortable sleep.
So, if you ready to spend a night in authentic Uzbek building with basic facilities, this guest house will be a right choice. The big bonus is friendly, home-like atmosphere, interesting company and extremely friendly, helpful staff.

A courtyard covered in vines, complimentary breakfast, and three bucks for a rich, hearty home cooked proper dinner (the best meals I've had in Uzbekistan). You won't leave Bahodir hungry! Rooms are pretty basic but functional. Staff are friendly. I felt at home here. Biggest problem was my (en suite) bathroom which had a strange gassy smell coming from the drain. But as long as the door was shut it was no big deal. Close to the bazaar and Registan, and the bus to the train station is only a block away.

Also, tea and snacks upon arrival was very much appreciated!
