I think that this would have been an excellent stay if we had of booked earlier. We got a room on the ground floor which I knew from the reveiws on tripadvisor weren't great and to try and get any of the higher rooms. Even though it was really noisy because it was right next to the foyer and the bathroom had ants ( thats what I think they were) were everywhere, I still thought it was good value for money.

Room Tip: Any other than ground floor

We can’t say enough great things about the Hoang Trinh Hotel and the amazing staff. We have been traveling for 2 months and really enjoyed the family feel here. Like previous reviews have stated, you are staying here for the experience, location and perhaps not to have everything perfect. The staff and ownership more than make up for any deficiencies that we could find. We were considering in staying at another hotel that was farther away from the ancient center, but we were so glad that we stayed here for the location. It’s so close to everything you’ll need. We loved the complimentary fruit place, smoothies or treat when you come back for a rest from the mid-day heat. This was so special.

Our rooms (we were moved once by the management) were large, equipped with extremely comfortable foam beds, a bathtub, kettle, tea, coffee, towels, bar fridge with water and other essentials. Our rooms were both on the front of the building and were quiet. The housekeeping staff is so friendly and always made our room feel like we were just checking in. Wi-Fi worked in the room and had ok speed (choppy on Skype), and it crashed several times during our 1 week stay. The included breakfast is fantastic and has a good selection of eggs, pancakes, sandwiches, fruit and of course coffee, tea, juice, soda, smoothies.

The only difference from this place vs. traditional hotels and B&B’s, would be that there is no top bedding. The beds have a top sheet and there are “fuzzy” blankets in the wardrobe closet to use as a top blanket. We used our silk sleep sacks instead. The only notable discrepancy in our stay was the room bar fridge that was stocked with water. The owner told us that the water was free for us and would be replenished daily. Upon check out we were charged for the water that we had consumed. The pricing was fair (8,000VND for 1.5L’s) so we didn’t bother disputing the charge.

Bottom line, this is kind of place that you’ll not want to leave. The ownership and staff set the standard high, are extremely customer driven and will provide you with an experience like no other.

The staff make this place. Stayed 7 nights and they really were fantastic. We had originally planned to only stay for a few nights and then move to a resort by the beach but decided to stay. While the rooms are not perfect they are clean with AC and very good value for what we paid (20 USD which included a very good breakfast) as Hoi An seems a bit more expensive than other places in Vietnam. Might be a good idea to book ahead to make sure you get a room on the 2nd or 3rd floor. We used the laundry service which was pretty good. There is free WiFi. It's in a good location about 5 min walk from old town Hoi An. There is a place next door where you can rent bicycles or motorbikes to head to the beach. They arranged our transport to the airport in a private car for 15USD which worked out very well.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms on the ground floor.

Homey place, caring and genuine staff. We felt welcome right away, and the staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. We ended up staying five nights, waiting for all the clothes we had made :) They arranged our transport with taxi and train, but now I wished I had taken another taxi to the train station, as there is definitely cheaper to be found.
Also what I didnt like is the price they charge for water in the fridge in the room. In previous places this ended up being almost the price from the shop, but here we were surprised when we got the bill. Its just a few cents but I felt a bit silly not informing myself before assuming.
They offer many friendly complimentary things like fruit, smoothie, and a goodbye gift.
About the rooms: the ones in the back have noise early in the morning from the preschool nextdoor. Also they could use some work, our doorknob came loose and water stopped running a few times for a few minutes.
Another little downer for me was that on their website they say you can pay with credit card, but apparently their machine has been broken for a while now. Important to me as I get charged a lot extra for every withdrawal from the ATM.
Four stars for the smiles and good breakfast :)

In Hoi An is difficult to find a cheap, clean and nice place. Most of them offer swimming pool but really old and stinky.

This place is just perfect. Western style rooms, ac, wifi and the breakfast is really nice.

Staff is the best, they take care of you with fresh fruit juices when you arrive from the street exhausted because of the hot weather.

No doubt on coming back again!
