I think my husband and I got lucky when we arrived at this hotel. They only had one room and it was the one way at the top and you had to walk across a rooftop to get to it. It had 3 large beds. Since they were only asking $14/night for it, we took it. It was fairly quiet, well lit, and far from the other rooms. It had a slanted ceiling, which was kind of charming, small windows (one was in the bathroom), and stained glass blocks that looked really pretty when the light shone on it just right. The bathroom was okay - at least there was a tub so the floor didn't get completely wet, though a curtain would've helped that. They never cleaned our room once while we were there. However, we didn't ask for it either - we're reasonably tidy and are ok with using our same towels. If it wasn't for the good deal we got, I would've given this room an average rating. And another negative is that you couldn't get WIFI up there...

We stayed in this b&b for four nights in a double room for USD 15 a night. The Phuong Duong is conveniently located about 5 to 10 minutes walking from the city center of Hoi An. The street is pretty calm at nights, so you won't have a problem with noise.

The rooms are small and not spotlessly clean, but still a value you have to expect for that bargain price. We had a nice view towards rice paddies at the back of the building.

The receptionists vary in friendliness. It's a family business and as always in families, there good and bad apples in the bunch. All in all we felt secure and well kept in this hotel, but in retrospect would consider paying more to get a nicer room.

We arrived here on recommendation from our place in Hue. We were greeted by an unfriendly receptionist who proceeded to tell us that their leaflet was out of date and the $10 rooms were no longer available. We paid $15 because we were tired from a motorbike trip and didn't want to go looking around. We proceeded to stay 4 nights out of laziness when it came to trudging around looking for rooms.
The room was an alright size but smelled of damp. The bathroom stank of damp and the walls were black even after housekeeping cleaning them before we moved in.
We used the fridge and as a result all of our drinks smelled of damp.
The a/c didn't work. The hot shower was decent but as usual sprayed the bathroom in general. I stay I'm budget places and don't expect luxury or crystal clean rooms. But I do expect staff to be friendly and helpful. They were not.
They almost seem to be annoyed that we had emptied the mini bar (even though we were paying for it). They seemed to accuse us of trying to run out on our laundry bill which we weren't doing and they refused to leave a bottle of water in their fridge after we checked out so that when we returned for our bags that evening we would have a cold drink for the bus.
Unhelpful and unfriendly is all I remember from this place. There is better available for cheaper as evidenced from friends I met in Hoi An.

Arriving in Hoi An at 6pm along with all the other travellers on the buses from Hue, I found the first 4 hotels that I asked at were already full. Preparing to be on my way with fingers crossed, the girl on reception, Ching, announced that she'd help me. She rang a couple of hotels and arranged for one of them to send a taxi for me so I could stay there for the night. Naturally I booked to return the next night when a room would be available and stayed there for 2 nights. The other staff were also friendly, the room was clean and spacious and in a great location.
