Very positive experience here when we went there for dinner. Lovely food and nice atmosphere. Staff very polite and helpful. Some tables at the balcony on the first floor. Restaurant tends to be very busy

“Modern twist to the traditional menu offering”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

So read the many different reviews on Tripadvisor before deciding to step foot into this place whilst in Hoi An. It is evident that the chef/owner, given his background in fine dining in hotels, was trying to take Vietnamese cuisine to another level, creating a modern twist to a number of commonly found items, while coming up with his own new recipes. For the two of us, we had

- fresh spring/rice rolls, with seafood. Every chef has his/her own unique recipe for the dipping sauce and indeed, this dipping sauce added a number of different elements/dimensions to the palate.
- cha ca la vong - we had the original cha ca la vong in Hanoi, and Moon's version used something that resembled sea bass / trout, marinated and panfried, served with rice noodles and the other condiments. It is less oily than the original dish in Hanoi.
- pork ribs - probably not traditional Vietnamese dish but yes they were flavourful as other reviewers suggested and the meat came off the bones very easily.
- stir fried sweet potato leaves - had too much water spinach already so it was refreshing eating other vegetables

The portions were not overly large, but with the rice noodles on the cha ca la vong and the rice that comes with the other dishes, it provided a good balance and some room for kem (ice cream / gelato) later. The meal came to just shy of VND 600,000. They used an exchange rate of USD1 to VND20,000 if you pay in USD (like most other establishments), but you can exchange USD1 for around VND21,000 in most banks/exchange places. It is pricey for Hoi An standards, but inexpensive compared to dining experience of similar quality back home.

“Overrated”
Reviewed 8 August 2014

First impression when you walk in is good. Old colonial building with lots of character that has got more potential than they have got out of it.
We were sat at a table downstairs. Kitchen is on that floor and you do get exposed a bit to some of smells from it which is a bit confusing since it confuses your senses which are trying to focus on your food not on somebody else's.
Food was just ok and overpriced compared to Hoi An.
This was probably our least enjoyable meal in Hoi An .

“Why such a high Advisor grade?”
Reviewed 3 August 2014 via mobile

This is a very small restaurant with very small portions food for a non competitive price. Service is friendly and good. But why are 3 different restaurant employees asking where we came from and asking how we experienced the food. In Hoi An there are a lot more nicer and better (also price/quality ratio) restaurants.

“Great food”
Reviewed 2 August 2014 via mobile

We had dinner tonight and I must say we will be back tomorrow for more of the Chef food dishes as it is of excellent quality. We opted for the pork spare ribs and grilled prawns on local vegetables. The Patron and Chef in charge is probably The Best Chef at this point of time in Hoi An, and he worked before in Dubai Grand Hyatt !
Highly recommendable
