Reviewed 3 December 2013

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. It is very good Hotel. this is our first trip in Vietnam so all our packages were booked by Ms Lisa Nguyen at Thaison Grand Hotel in Hanoi. She recommended for us this hotel. we are much appreciated for her help. Hotel is clean and larged. Breakfast is good. Staff are very friendly, expecially Hotel Manager, He help us much with city sight seeing.
We will come back this hotel next time for sure!

We stayed in Thanh Van for 2 nights and have appreciated this place very much. The Hotel is located outside the busy district of Hoi An in a quiet area and the room was cosy. But the most important is the staff of Than Van: people friendly and very helpful. We have appreciated the professional work of Miss Thanh, her help to resolve some problems that we had (transportation) particularly because she speaks english but also french very well. It was important for us as we are French speaking people.

This is the best hotel we have stayed at so far very clean large rooms . Good food in the dining area. A bit of a walk to downtown we did it several times , but the shuttle runs every hour. If you don't want to walk . The whole staff tried to do everything they could to help us . They were trying to sell tours and massage but not overly pushy some of the girls got pedicures and manicures. One of the guys had a massage said it was very good.you won't go wrong using this hotel

This place really mixed the good with the bad ......

There was a lot of good:

Huge rooms, and huge bathrooms, and for families, we had adjoining rooms. A treat! Rooms were clean, with a stocked mini bar, decent TV and wifi on every floor with the same password.

Swimming pool: perfect for the kiddies! We sat in the restaurant and watched them frolic. Unfortunately, the beer on offer was a bit warm for western tastes, however the Larue beer was only 10,000 vnd, the best price I found in town ....

We found the breakfast perfect to our needs. Eggs made to order, lots of fruit, lots of juice .....

The downside to this hotel was the sales pitch for tours, onward travel, massages etc. and sometimes the quality of the advice ......we were in Hoi An just as Typhoon Haiyan was bearing down on the city, and so we wanted to change out tickets from Dong Hoi to Hanoi. Their suggestion was just to buy new tickets. Knowing better, we reached out to a travel agent (Laughing Roo) who got us the refund we were entitled to, booked new tickets, and delivered them within the hour. The quality of Thanh Van's travel advice was suspect IMHO. After the third, fourth or fifth question of 'where are you travelling next?' I started to tune out the Thanh Van staff ....

The distance from downtown wasn't really an issue for us .... a ten minute walk with my 87 y/o father so don't let that put you off .... Shuttle bus takes 5 minutes ..... some doubtless good value at this property despite my comments above.

Huge room with street facing balcony, a step up bed and a separate seating area with television and fridge.
Bathroom has a separate toilet and separate shower plus a step up bath with a shower.
Good western & Eastern breakfast choice / eggs made to order and everything else was buffet style with plenty of choice.
Free Wi-Fi computers in reception area. Book swop option in restaurant area.
Not in downtown area but they supply an hourly shuttle service or free bikes.
Reception very friendly and helpful with directions and info on restaurants in the area.
Definitely recommend this hotel

Room Tip: currently has construction next door--ask for a room facing away from this if daytime noise is a pro...

This was the best hotel we have stayed in so far in Vietnam. Location was very good, 10 mins walk to old town and 10 mins cycle to an bang beach. They picked us up from the bus stop and also dropped us there when we checked out. They give free bikes to you so you can go and explore. It was a great way of getting around and Hoi An is not too busy with motorbikes so it was quite easy. Breakfast was nice and so was the pool. We had room 403 which was huge, it was on the corner of the building so i'm not sure if every room is like that. Our bathroom was nearly as big as the room, also had balcony to chill and read a book. Staff were very helpful and we really enjoyed staying here.

Hotel was great, reception was really friendly, told us good spots to eat. They have free bikes to use, only a 5 minute cycle from the centre, great pool, yummy b'fast, perfect location, wifi good and rooms were worth a lot more than what you pay! They even dropped us off at the beach one day and picked us up within 5 minutes of a phone call for no charge! Highly recommended!
