“Very very good hotel in good location”
Reviewed 30 January 2011

I was with some acquaintances on a sleeper bus from Ha Noi area to Hoi An, and their guide book listed this hotel. It was not in my guide book. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the hotel. Thanh Van I was full, and they provided shuttlle/taxi to Thanh Van 2. The rate for the room, the room, the amenities, and location were all excellent, and in fact , has been one of the best values that I have had on this extended trip throughout S.E. Asia for over 2 months. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, either for business or for leisure, without hesitation. The staff very helpful , both with where to go in Hoi An, as well as providing direction and booking for transportation to my destination/s in Viet Nam. And, fortunately for me, the staff and owner all spoke English very well, and made my stay here very pleasant.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights and think it's the best hotel we've stayed in so far in Vietnam! The staff are extremely friendly, offering you tea when u arrive and going the extra mile :)

The rooms were extremely clean & modern with a traditional Vietnamese twist. We stayed in one of the cheaper double rooms and was very impressed! The shower was great with hot water everytime, hairdryer, AC, heating, mini bar and even umbrellas for the wetterdays! Breakfast is also included which is the best we've had so far, starts at 7:30-10, make sure you get there before 9:30 as it runs out fast!

Loved hoi an, really pretty with a traditional Vietnamese charm!

at our arrival the manager pressured us to go with him to his tailor (not very good quality). kept putting pressure for us to go this his spa. when you say no he get upset. Got back one night at the room and notice that somebody had been in the room.
the hotel in itself is alright but not the location. breakfast is just ok. Staff made us very uncomfortable, there was a unwelcomming feel. I was pressured to put a good review here! And was told by the manager to give him and the staff a good tip when we leave. Please say somewhere else in town.

We have been travelling in Vietnam by Open bus, and during our trip, this was the best hotel by far. For, the size of the room, service, cleaniness. This is what we expected after tiring ride. It was fun from the moment we walked into the hotel. They have a shuttle bus into the town, free bicycles, friendly advice on things to do..etc.

The hotel staff were very helpful and went out of the way to sort things for us. We would definitely go back there and stay longer.

Firstly, i would not recommend this to anyone. At $45/night for 3 people, there's better.

The rooms are very nice and the buffet breakfast is decent. That's about all that is good about it.

All the staff except one girl gave off a very unfriendly and unwelcoming vibe. We instantly got the impression that they were just trying to squeeze as much money out of us as possible.

When we rented motorbikes off of them, they refused to let us fuel the bikes ourselves, with the only option being to give them 100k dong ($5) for fuel, not knowing if it was even empty. Then they insisted on us returning the bikes the same night - something that we've never experienced after 2-3 months of renting bikes in Vietnam and Thailand.

The only time the main staff member (the only man who spoke english) seemed to be friendly was when he would be asking us what our plans were for the day, with the obvious intention of trying to get us to his tailor, or fish some sort of commission out of us.

Lastly, when we tried to check out on the final day they insisted that we had to pay cash as their credit card machine "wasn't working". Obviously, cash is better for them - but credit is better for us. We asked them several times to try the machine, but they refused to even test it in front of us. When we finally demanded they try it, it worked straight away...

Long story short - go somewhere else if you can. The staff just add a nasty taste to your visit to the beautiful city of Hoi An.

My girlfriend made the perfect quote for this hotel "SERVICE WITH A SNARL" and I couldn't describe it better. The staff are rather unfriendly and do not hide the fact that they are in a bad mood when serving you. There is a distinct lack of care and service here and it was probably the worst place we stayed (care wise) in the whole of Vietnam.

The hotel itself is alright and at first glance the room was nice. It is a new hotel that has been obviously thrown together as can be seen when you look at sink fittings and leaking toilets etc etc.

The pool is great for kids, not adults.

The breakfast is a standard westernized breakfast or rice and skip the lunch/dinner as it is terrible compared to places downtown.

The location is not great and you will need a bike or taxi to get anywhere.

The main problem here were the staff and the lack of customer service, particularly from the management.

Overall I would not recommend this hotel to anyone that I know.

We recently spent a night at this hotel. I had specifically booked Thanh Van 1 but the taxi I had organised through the hotel dropped us off at TV 2. Reception staff explained that #1 was full and that we could spend one night at #2 and then move to #1, if there was a room the following day. For some reason the cost of the taxi had increased - but i had kept the email and all was OK. I was told that the confusion had arisen because 2 guests were picked up from the airport with the same name but different prices (???).

Much in contrast to our other experiences in Viet Nam, reception staff were not friendly at all, verging on the rude, especially at first. Anyway we decided to stay for a night and were given a robotic smile and a 'have a nice stay'.

The triple room we had was excellent, with timber floor, nice furniture and a great bathroom. Marble everywhere (or what looks like marble). The buffet breakfast was very nice and so was the pool.

The main problem with this hotel is its location, on a busy and noisy road, with nothing nice to look at in the surrounding areas, and a 20mn walk to the center along a very uninteresting road.

The hotel does provide free bicycles and a free shuttle service. Still, the reason why we had wanted to stay at VT 1 was to be closer to the old part of Hoi An, which is delightful.

So we looked for and found a much better place, right on the river, a few minutes walk to the old part of town. The room is not as nice but the staff are very friendly and the surrounds are surreal, especially at night.

To be fair to the staff at VN 2, we eventually got smiles and 'sorry sorry for the inconvenience' ; as it is a busy time of year, not everybody can be in a happy mood all the time and I am sure hotel staff get tired of dealing with tourists. Still, our first impression was not good and despite the excellent room, I would hesitate to recommend this hotel.
