“On the beach and close to town”
Reviewed 13 July 2013

I stayed here for a week in June. It's the perfect spot to base yourself in Hoi An if you like to be near the beach. The beach is definitely the best part - it's a beautiful stretch of sand with lovely umbrellas and the water temperature is just divine, as opposed to the pool which is too warm for swimming and cooling off from the humidity. The buffet breakfast was OK but not great. The drinks at the pool bar were really lovely, particularly the non alcoholic ones! I had a deluxe room which was fine, but lacking a little in privacy as it faces onto a communal garden and pool. The room smelt a little in the mornings and the shower leaked. The shuttle into town is convenient but you can also get a taxi for a few dollars. The restaurants across the road are fine if you want a quick bite to eat. The spa to the direct right of the entrance is basic but fine for a manicure. I didn't try the hotel spa. In summary, a good resort style hotel right on a beautiful beach and close to Hoi An.

Room Tip: The beach front villas definitely looked like the pick of the rooms.

We stayed here for two and a half weeks during the middle of our stay in Asia - a lovely hotel and the staff were fantastic. Large bedroom and bathroom - great views of the Ocean and pool, gardens and palms. Everywhere was very clean and the breakfast buffet brilliant (we are non meat eaters). There are lots of loungers around the pool and on the beach where there is continual local activity from fisherman and boats - and a free shuttle bus into Hoi An town (during the day and evening) - a must visit. We ate in the restaurants opposite the hotel for lunch and dinner (the one in the centre will do a takeaway lunch for you to enjoy on your balcony) - there is a bottle shop for cheap drinks next to the hotel. When you leave the hotel turn to the left and within 5/10 minutes walk you will come to a small cluster of restaurants - all very good with amazing food. Laundry can be taken to any of the restaurants and returned within 24hours and much much cheaper than the hotel.
If you leave the hotel beachside - walk to the right and there are lots of beach bars and restaurants for lunch (not sure if they are also open in the evenings)
I would recommend this hotel for a great relaxing holiday and the fantastic atmosphere and sights of Hoi An Town.
We planned our visit to include the night that they switch all the electric lights off in the Town - despite a very heavy downpour of rain it was still very atmospheric seeing all the natural lights and candles being floated on the river

This is a very nice hotel in a lovely setting, with beautiful spacious gardens running down to the beach.

The beach is wonderful and almost deserted bar a few fishermen sitting in their coracles mending their nets. Our teenagers were taken out in a coracle, which they greatly enjoyed. The sand is very clean and gently shelving so you can walk out 100 yards plus.

To the right, there are three hotels: to the north there are no hotels for miles. We looked at Hotel Victoria and others to the south, and were pleased with our choice.

The first floor rooms 516 and 517 were very comfortable and close to breakfast and the pool. The rooms were often not made up til after midday, and then items like robes removed but not replaced.

The pool is good for lengths with comfortable loungers. There is no WiFi by the pool and limited poolside service (which would make this a 5* experience).

Only on one day out of six, were the loungers all taken, and the poolside at all noisy with young children.

Breakfasts were good, with a changing menu every day. However, service was slightly slack.

We'd highly recommend Mi Casa for lunch (turn left from hotel entrance, 5 mins walk) and laundry service by hotel entrance.

The hotel spa massage was great, and the shuttle service to Hoi An (10 mins) is excellent and popular.

It's all a bit of a blur really as my partner ended up in hospital in Hoi An with quite severe dengue fever. Room was modern with a great view over to the sea. Staff very helpful, and I cringed when I overheard the reception staff being berated by a belligerent guest. When the shuttle bus was full, a taxi was summoned and paid for by the hotel. Room service was good, bar area nice, breakfast buffet had a fantastic chicken pho. Pool fairly ordinary and unexciting. Grounds not particularly attractive. Only stayed 3 nights, so really didnt do the resort type holiday.

Room Tip: Top floor of main building. The bungalows didn't seem to have much privacy, nor the rooms on the...

Overall, we had a wonderful stay at this beautiful resort. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. We stayed in the main building and had a top floor room which had a stunning view from the balcony over the palm trees to the ocean. The buffet breakfast was good with many choices. We used the bikes to ride into town which was a fun experience. The shuttle bus service into Hoi An was great and saved us $5 in a taxi fare every time we used it. The beach is stunning with barely anyone swimming and plenty of ultra comfy lounges! The water was a perfect luke warm temperature and the gentle waves were hypnotic. White sand stretched as far as the eye could see. The pool was beautiful with plenty of lounges available. The gardens were perfectly manicured providing a magnificent oasis.
Two disappointing points - firstly, there was a strange stench in one of our rooms. Secondly, the staff were mostly very helpful, however I did not appreciate being told I had not emailed reservations with a request which I clearly had done. Furthermore we were dropped at the hotel 2 and 1/2 hrs before check in and we were unable to check in early. I was also amazed that the hotel manager at first said we couldn't have check out an hour later - after further discussion he did agree to this request.
Overall, this is a beautiful hotel in a quiet location on an amazing beach.

The hotel is about 10 mins drive from Hoi An but free shuttle bus works well and they even have a back up bus for the peak times. The location allows you to enjoy the bustle of Hoi An and then escape back to the pool or beach.

My friend and I stayed for three nights last week. As to people's remarks about the resort being 'sterile' I'm not exactly sure what they were expecting. A welcome party perhaps? Personally, I found the milder attentiveness at Boutique a welcome relief from the syrupy sweet treatment we had received at other hotels in Vietnam. All that obligatory smiling makes my face sore.

The architecture of the resort is just beautiful, as is the gorgeous pool and gardens, with it's green lawns and (summertime) frangipanis. The private beach, on a fine day, is a picture of paradise.

My only complaint is regarding poolside service. It left much to be desired. On the first day we approached the pool bar to get a drink and were rudely dismissed by the four guys behind the bar - we later discovered it was closed due to 'rain' (this had well and truly stopped by that point). We therefore had to go upstairs for a drink. If you are looking for a place where the staff will come to you poolside to offer drinks/food, don't expect it at this place. You'll have to get up and order at the bar, then wait ages for your drinks to come. This is a shame for the resort as they'd make a lot more money if they were more proactive.

Also, there is a much cheaper laundry service next door or across the road. We also used the 'neighbour' to the left of the hotel to drive us to the airport as we had heard the resort charges an exhorbitant fee. He charged us USD15.

I would definitely stay at Boutique again because the place is so beautiful and, at least during our stay, was very peaceful. Definitely good for couples. Hoi An is a wonderful place!
