As we were staying at the Riverside resort they had their own stretch of beach, which was OK i suppose but I'm not a beach person anyway, unfortunately for me though my wife is. So while she was sunbathing i went for a walk along the beach and to my great shock almost stood with bare feet on a discarded syringe needle complete with empty contents bottle. I can only imagine what might have happened had a child either stood on it or picked it up, it's not what i expected at all on this lovely beach so please take care here as it seems there are idiots everywhere even on holiday..!
The beach itself was pretty good apart from an off shore breeze blowing in constantly but that aside there were plenty of bamboo shelters and tables not to mention the restaurants if you felt hungry enough, also the local waiters kept you well supplied with cold drinks including my favourite the fresh coconut. As for the much maligned hawkers you must remember there is no welfare system in Vietnam so you will notice they are all older women trying to make a living selling trinkets, snacks etc, and are completely harmless it also dosen't hurt to buy something like fresh bananas or some peanuts, it is literally loose change to us, but a lot to these poor people you will also find they are very friendly and not aggressive in the slightest.!
This beach is definitely worth a visit if you're into beaches as for swimming you will find the shore line is quite shallow and depending on the weather is safe enough for swim or a jet ski, it also gets really hot here so mind the sun cream..!
