“Just ok.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 January 2014

Let me start off by saying that we stayed at Nikko Hotel Saigon before here and Mia Resort Nha Trang after here. In comparison Sunrise was just ok. It is a 5 star hotel but there were small things that I would think you wouldn't expect from a 5 star hotel.

Firstly, the rooms are a bit dated - and being on the bottom floor we were unfortunately woken every morning at 7am by screaming children running past our room. I probably should have heeded other reviewers advice more as this is definitely a family resort. The breakfast buffet was great, not as nice as Mia or Nikko but still plenty of options.

The staff here don't seem to care as much as at the other hotels either. Everything seemed kind of difficult and the cleaning in the room was rarely done...odd for a 5 star resort. I just felt like I was in a big resort that didn't feel at all like luxury.

I wouldn't stay again, and I would recommend another resort if staying in Hoi An.

It is hard to rate this hotel as we had such a mixed experience. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and the staff in general were friendly and very helpful. We stayed in an ocean view room which was fantastic, you could hear the waves lapping on the beach. We enjoyed a couple of days of good weather just after new year and spent it on the beach which was fairly quiet versus the pool which was packed.
Unfortunately we were told about the compulsory $110 New Year's Eve gala in the restaurant which at first we didn't mind paying based on the brochure. The reality was an overpriced meal, total chaos in the restaurant, staff not knowing what was going on, poor food selection and bad entertainment. We left early and complained to management. This was our experience every time we entered the restaurant whether for dinner or breakfast. It really lets down what would be a fantastic hotel.
The hotel did offer us compensation for the NYE issues which was adequate and we appreciated the effort made.

Dear guests,
Thanks a lot to spend time with us and your feedback which was highlighted to our team.
As for compulsory dinner all our partners were informed and guests as well.
Food displayed on that nite was carefully selected to bring quality and we have got very good feedback.
We are moving forward to fine tune the resort and focus on our beach to be back after series of typhoons and storms.
We hope to see u again
We wish u all the best for 2014.

The Sunrise Resort in Hoi An was an ideal stop over on our way to Hanoi in December,2013.The staff were very welcoming and upon arrival received a welcome drink. Checkin was efficiently done with the reservation clerk explaining all the facilities available to us. My wife and I stayed for thre nights. We upgraded to an ocean view room. The room was huge and the bonus was that it had a huge balcony with a nice ocean views.
The resort provides a shuttle bus which takes you into the village. This saves in taxi fares.
We found a good tailor in the village called Be Be one. The friendly shuttle bus driver took us to the friendly tailor and returned to pick us up.

What we liked about the hotel resort:
Great facilaties
Wonderful helpful, caring staff
Choice of ocean side or main building restaurants
Sensations restaurant served great Vietnamese food, but service a bit slow, but hell this is a resort so the pace is a bit slower !
Free wifi
Great location.
We plan another trip to Hoi An next year and we will stay at the Sunrise again.
PS if you need laundry doe walk outside the resort, cross the road and you will find several laudromats with helpful staff who will do your laundry at an embarrisingly low price!

Room Tip: Ask for ocean view room

Beautiful hotel. Good service - rooms were cleaned thoroughly and often twice a day. Had a room with a beautiful balcony and day bed into a garden. Would prefer to have a beach view room for next time.
Staff were very friendly and helpful however often they would try sneaky sell you there family business ( taxi /tailors etc) and they ask you not to tell other hotel staff . It was quiet annoying after the 4th attempt to promote different family business.

Restaurants in the hotel are average and reasonability priced but expensive compared to other restaurant in the area.

We arrived New Year's Eve and were told we had to attend a compulsory gala dinner costing $213 for 2 ( Australian dollar). This was a bit disappointing as we did not have this in our budget and would have rather gone into town and experience the local New Years.

Overall a good place to stay and a short drive out of the hustle of the main city.

I always read everyone else's reviews but I have never written one. My husband and I stayed at Sunrise resort for 5 nights over the New Years period. From the moment we checked in we had a wonderful time. We arrived at 8.30am and check in wasn't until 2pm but we were checked in and the manager served us welcome drinks and sat with is to go through everything at the resort and also have us complimentary tickets to their New Years party which included a beautiful seafood buffet and entertainment all night. The staff were so friendly and always enjoyed having a chat with us and a joke around. The pool and all the facilities are great. I would only ever stay at Sunrise when we go to Hoi An.

We stayed here on our honeymoon for 3 nights from 26/12/13 – 29/12/13. Cannot fault this place apart from not being able to use the infinity pools but not the hotels fault, it was bad weather and we could not swim nor relax on the sun beds but we were treated like 5 stars when we arrived. Our room wasn't quite ready so we had tea and snacks served while we waited. Our room wad decorated with rose petals and they gave us a fruit bowl and bottle of wine to celebrate our honeymoon. We even got a cake which they bought to our room for dessert. Staff was all so friendly and willing to help out. Room was a decent size, comfy bed and pillows you just melt it. Breakfast has good variety and they have shuttle bus that takes you to Hoi An Old Quarter but you have to book otherwise you will miss out.

The gym was fantastic and they also have a tennis court but you have to pay for racket and ball hire about 800000 VND. There is also sauna and spa. They also have a pool table which we spent most of our time there as it was cold.

They also have a seafood buffet dinner every weekend which was just delicious!

Would recommend this hotel but make sure the weather is nice as you will regret not being able to use pools or beach.

Room Tip: We were on the ground floor (garden view room) which was lovely. Felt like we had our own wee backya...

We had spent five great days in this resort. Though it is 5km away from Hoi An old town, its worth staying. My room was spacious. Pools were amazing. The breakfast was wonderful with various selections from Vietnamese to Western. The staff were knowledgable and helpful. The Sensations restaurant was super crowded during breakfast time. The staff here were very proactive, fast, powerful, courteous and helpful. I was amazed by the way they treat you if its your birthday or honey moon! They played a wonderful loud song, the lights were out, a sparkle, a little dessert and a smiling face!
We would definitely come back for more....
