“Nicest place I've ever stayed in.”

A piece of paradise on the outskirts of Hoi An. Beautiful location on the beach. Lovely rooms, all you could want. Food and drink expensive here but free shuttle into Hoi An gives option of cheaper meals. Staff very attentive, free wi-fi everywhere, fabulous breakfast included in our tarriff, very nice swimming pool, this place has it all. Only criticism is that when reasonable waves form in the sea the beach patrol staff don't let you swim as they consider it too dangerous. If you are used to reasonable surf then it is not a problem.

Room Tip: Beachfront for good views but can be noisy with the sea.

We stayed in the Victoria Beach Resort in Hoi an in the second week of September 2012. This is just before the beginning of the rain season and so we still could enjoy some sunny days there. The beach is beautiful. The sea however, at this time, is not that quiet anymore, so most time the lifeguards won't let you go in. Simple workaround if you still want take a bath in the sea and not in the pool: Walk some meters to the north or south of the hotel beach and go in there. But be aware of the currents, they can be quite strong. My advice: Don't go there during the rain season from second half of September to mid December. November Hoi An might even be flooded.

Construction works going on during summer had already been finished completely. I hope they have learned from the bad reviews they got during that time to next time shut down completely while restructuring. At our time they were busy fortifying the beach wall protecting the resort from the rising sea waters. I was a little bit skeptical of the hotel at the arrival because of some reviews I read, that's why I decided to do an upgrade from deluxe room to junior suite. My advice to you would be to settle at least for the deluxe beach-front rooms. Junior suite has a bigger bathroom and a small private garden with a second shower at the back of the room, and is – like the deluxe beach-front rooms – just at the beach. With beautiful views, and furniture as the rest of the rooms was in good to very good shape.

Before the upgrade I let the staff show me all rooms available and make me an offer for the upgrade price, honestly I was a bit demanding there, but I have to say the staff mastered my requests very professionally. Overall I was very pleased with the hotel staff, obviously they had all been very well trained. Upgrade from deluxe to junior suite cost 75 USD per night. Don't take a standard room, you will hear noise from the street and look out to the lagoon and not the sea. Except for the standard ones, the rooms are distributed bungalow-alike all over the resort, what makes for a good atmosphere. And yes, you will probably meet some Gekkos in your rooms, but they are not only completely harmless, but they also eat mosquitoes and help prevent from tropical diseases.

Breakfast was very good to excellent. We have never tried the restaurant for dinner, as there is a free shuttle bus to Hoi An, where you can find a lot of excellent restaurants. My advice for dinner would be the famous “Wrap and Roll” restaurant, we ate there four times in a row as they offered the best food we had eaten so far in Vietnam.

There is free WIFI all over the hotel, a computer-room and some other amenities, however unfortunately no gym. The location of Victoria is perfect, the overall design of this hotel (garden,...) I would describe as “nice”. During our stay there were mostly middle-aged tourists from the UK, France, Spain and Germany, some Japanese, I have seen no Russians. Overall I'd say they were doing very well on the basics, and good to very good concerning the rest.

Btw, this was the first beach-hotel in Hoi An. If I went to Hoi An again, I'd probably choose that hotel again. Couple 33yrs from Austria on a north-south trip through Vietnam.

Room Tip: Start from deluxe beach-front, don't settle for the standard rooms.

The Victoria Hoi An has a lot of positives. Very nice and quiet beachfront and pool area and really lovely well kept grounds. Rooms were comfortable and the beach front suite was very spacious and well worth extra money [even though the only shower is outdoor and they have a huge inset stone bath which is perhaps a little odd/dated].

Sitting on the porch of the room with an uninterrupted view of the sea as the sun went down and the little lights from fishing boats appeared was really special.

What slightly let the place down for us though, when taking into account the relatively high price of the hotel, was the restaurant and room service food options which we felt tasted pretty bland and mainstream compared with other places we had stayed at in Vietnam. In addition the ambiance in the main restaurant was not as good at it might have been, the room was rather large and a bit characterless and you are constantly and repetitively asked chatty questions by serving staff [how long are you staying, where are you from, what are you doing today] and we found it began to feel a little tiresome after a few meals even though clearly friendly and entirely well meant, It is, however, very easy to eat in Hoi An itself where there is a huge array of outstanding places to choose from at great prices so this is not a major problem.

Room Tip: Beachfront suites are well worth money,

We stayed for 8 nights with our 3 school aged kids. We've been lucky enough to go to Thailand for a few holidays (we love Thailand) and wanted to try something different. We were blown away by Hoi An town, by the Vietnamese food and our resort was exactly what we wanted - a relaxing place to chill out by the pool each day.

Room Tip: We went deluxe, nice rooms and nice bathroom, but there was 'deluxe sea front' which we didn...

Stayed here on our honeymoon for 4 nights. The hotel is located 10 min's from the centre of Hoi An, and is beautifully laid out. Our room was clean and modern with a massive ceiling. There is free WI-FI all over the hotel and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. The pool and beach are in a great setting. The only things that I think could be improved are 1) The free shuttle bus to Hoi An could be run more frequently, however it is only a small amount to get a taxi to/from town. 2) the restaurant staff were very friendly & chatty which normally is not a bad thing but we were on our honeymoon and spent more time talking to the staff than each other! (maybe be I am just getting grumpy as I get older!)

Stayed here for 5 nights early August. Great spot on the beach 15 minutes from beautiful Hoi An. Room was beach front, with a nice patio. Good size but limited wardrobe space. Wi Fi readily available all over the resort. Drinks are pricey, especially wine but we found this to be the case all over VN. Went out on the free bikes on a couple of occasions which was really fun.
The beach is lovely & quiet, but a short walk from a few bars & restaurants. Better value meals in Hoi An but breakfasts really good & kept you going all day.
Staff were all lovely & v helpful.
Would I stay here again if travelling to Hoi An - YES

I absolutely loved this resort. The view, the pool, and the ambiance are incredible. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. The resort offered a shuttle to the Ancient Town which was great, and the buffet was one of the best in Asia. This is the place to stay in Hoi An!
