“OK Expected more for the price”
Reviewed 12 May 2012

This was the most expensive hotel we stayed in during our two week trip to Vietnam, resort was nice, but expected more for the price. Booked a deluxe riverside room on Hotels.com, which was what we received. Room was nice size, and as we were traveling with my teenage daughter allowed for some privacy for her. The grounds were nice and the pool was a welcome retreat after a long day of sightseeing. The location between the beach and the town wasn't the most convienent and the shuttle times were inconvienent, we were standing waiting for one for a ride back to the resort and it passed right by us. We ended up taking a cab each time for about $4.00. The bathroom was spacious, but there was a large mildew area on the ceiling in the shower, not as clean as I had expected. Breakfast which was included was plentiful, with many choices including a omelette station and the location right on the river was relaxing. Had a drink at the bar one night, perhaps the best Mai-tai I have ever had with fresh squeezed pineaple and orange juice, would have had another but at almost $10.00 a drink was a little too pricey. Mrs. Ha's place across the street has inexpensive laundry service, about $2.00/kilo and good, inexpensive food. We also rented motorbikes from her one day, only $7.00/day plus gas, we rode to Marble Mountain and China Beach, nice trip.

We liked our 4 night stay in the Riverside resort. Very relaxing. Our Superior room was large withbalcony and view on the river. Room appeared to have received a little makeover recently with new LCD TV, etc. Bath room is not the newest but still ok.
Nice and good breakfast on patio along the river.
They have a "beach club restaurant" along the beach where one can go for free and get a beach couch and towel for free.
The only draw back was the very unfriendly welcoming by the reception staff (in the days after they were a bit better though).

Hoi An Riverside Resort

Lovely hotel situated alongside a tributary of the Thu Bon River. Stayed in Rm1801 with a lovely view from our balcony overlooking the river. Very comfortable room with large en-suite, shutters between the two parts with no soundproofing. Amenities in room good, tea & coffee making facilities, toiletries and mini-bar. Also two small complimentary bottles of water supplied each day. Free wifi available.
Breakfast was plentiful, fruit, mixture of hot & cold food with eggs cooked to order. Seating was outside overlooking the river & fields. Overhead cover was available if raining but did not have to worry about this during our visit.
The swimming pool was relaxing after a hot day sightseeing, it was like getting into a warm bath. So nice that one day it started to rain but another member of our group & I stayed in chatting, even when it thundered.
I did think the bar prices were a bit steep in relation to other costs, even dearer than the mini-bar.
It was also a good point to do a bike tour round the local countryside, which our tour guide took us on.

Room Tip: Try and get a room never the river not the road.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. After 3 nights in hectic Saigon this was a tranquil oasis.

The view of the river and the paddy fields on the other side was beautiful. The hotel is located between the town and the beach. There is a free shuttle bus to both but it is possible to walk to the beach - it's about 1 km. The hotel has a sister restaurant at the beach (Zeroseamile) which has its own private area on the beach with loungers and towels provided, and we had a very nice lunch here at a reasonable price.

We found the shuttle bus times were fine for our requirements but its also only about a $3 dollar taxi journey to the town. There are also a number of restaurants within walking distance from the hotel. We tried one of them, called Son which is on stilts over the river about 5 minutes away from the hotel (the first one you come to after turning left out of the hotel) where we had the nicest meal of our entire stay in Vietnam.

I paid a bit more (not much) for a river view room which was large, clean, nicely furnished and had lot of character. We had no issues with noise. Pretty gardens and swimming pool. Staff were all friendly and helpful.

Breakfast is served in the restaurant next to the river and there was plenty of choice, including mini croissants, rolls and a selection of pastries, cereals, fresh fruit and omelettes cooked to order. It was lovely watching the kingfishers diving in the river whilst having our breakfast.

Kind of disappointed after booking a deluxe superior room over agoda with river view and then receive a backpacker room next to the street.we were very disappointed. It seems that the superior deluxe room is only a standard room.watch out. Room was ok and clean. Pool was ok but the whirlpool is defect.breakfast is included put the quality is not nice although they try.the old city is justed over the bridge.but unfortunately we got a room next to the street and it was very noisy.

We arrived late at night from Hanoi with three children, the staff were very unhelpful and despite me calling during the day to advise we had a third child and would need ( and pay for) an extra bed, the staff would not give us a fold up bed. They attitude was 'bad luck' - it's 11pm at night in a foreign country, so there was not much we could do and the kids were exhausted. There's a group of local houses right next door they wake up early and get going with machinery, motorbikes, etc. We had two rooms both well apart, and both somehow still close to the fence line of noisy houses next door.
It's a very small 'resort' with a pokey pool that is kind of not in Hoian, and not on the beach. We treated the kids to a milkshake which cost AUS $7 dollars each, which to put in context was only $3 dollars for real fruit smoothies at the Swiss Hotel Golden Sands ( where we moved to). Overall this hotel might suit a couple visitn Hoian for a night, but you have to get a taxi anywhere uless you want to try a Vespa. Staff laughed when I told them we had to make up a bed out of Doonas on the floor my 9 year old, thought it was a great joke.

Room Tip: Stay away from the rooms near the fence line, they are very noisy

This hotel is reasonable, not great, certainly not bad, but it is a hotel with a pool...not a resort as such.
The outlook from the breakfast/restaurant is tranquil and nice, overlooking the small river and the rice paddies.
Breakfast is fine as are the rooms although if you have the curtains open there is no privacy as most rooms face the pool and garden areas where other guests are, not a major problem though.
We were left with a slightly bitter taste when checking out and were charged $35 for a small load of washing....best to drop it off in town, probably pay around $8!!
Don't bother with the massage across the road unless you like to tell funny little adventure stories when you get home...I don't mind roughing it a bit but this was just strange...a little room with walls of cardboard and old signs and two single beds, one where she sleeps and one for her son, as you lay there the trucks whizz past the room probably only 5 metres away, to top it off she cut short my 60 minute massage by at least 15 minutes when another client turned up, never mind....it all helps the local economy!

Room Tip: Maybe ask for a river view?
