“Beautiful and friendly hotel”
Reviewed 18 June 2013

Me and my husband had a wonderful stay at Hoi An Chic hotel. The hotel is surrounded by the beautiful countryside, yet it is build and maintained to the highest standard and easily surpasses expensive spa resorts anywhere in Asia. Extremely friendly and helpful staff who helped to organise a wonderful birthday for me. Will definitely recommend Hoi An Chic to anybody who seeks to discover the beauty of Vietnam and experience the friendliness of its people.

What can I say about this hotel? What a great find, a small beautiful boutique hotel in quiet surroundings. We knew when we booked this hotel that is in in a quiet area between the town and the beach and this did not bother us! If you would rather be by the beach or in the center of town then this hotel probably isn't for you! We got the American jeep shuttle service the hotel provides into Hoi An every night we were there and also used the free bicycles to cycle to the beach (25 minutes to the local's, less touristy beach - An Bang), so we felt we had the best of both worlds.

The rooms were very clean, modern and spacious. We had a double chic room for our first night as the grand chic wasn't available, we then moved into a Grand chic room for the remaining 4 nights of our stay. In my opinion the rooms are pretty much identical aside from a larger bathroom in the grand chic. The sleeping area was exactly the same size and layout. The bathroom in the double chic was outdoors, whereas in the Grand chic it was indoors, I really like the outdoor bathroom so missed this when we moved to the Grand chic room. I didn't feel it was worth the extra money for the Grand chic, and if we were to stay at the Hoi An Chic again we would stay in a standard double chic room. The free use of a laptop in your room is a nice touch and there is also the use of a beach bag and straw sun hats, along with robes and slippers in the room. In the bathroom, there is shower gel, shampoo, conditioner and body lotion for your convenience. Fresh bottled water was provided free of charge in your room every day and the room was kept extremely clean.

Nothing was too much trouble, I asked for the use of an Iron and it was delivered to my room within 5 minutes. The reception staff also made a telephone call on our behalf to a restaurant in Hoi An Centre to make a reservation. I used the laundry service before we left and whilst it isn't as cheap as laundries outside of the resort it certainly wasn't expensive and was more convenient. Clothes returned the same day and were waiting for us in the room on return from our meal. The breakfast had a good selection, and it was good quality, baring in mind this is a small boutique hotel, and my husband particularly liked the selection of smoothies and coconut milk they had! I can't comment on food for lunch of dinner as we ate out in Hoi An every night. The pool area was a nice touch. Yes it is small ( on top of the restaurant) and there isn't much shade, but it is peaceful and the beds were very comfortable and the pool was lovely to cool off in after hours in the hot sunshine! I loved to while away the hours in the infinity pool overlooking the paddy fields.

If we were to return to Hoi An we would definitely stay at the Hoi An Chic again and I would not hesitate in recommending it to anyone!

Dear Travelers,

I am happy to read that we could provide a level of service which could meet you and your husband's expectations of a fine retreat. We also know it's the small things that count as well, and offering services like laundry and booking assistance as well as having quality drinks and food with a relaxing pool with a great view all add up and make a traveler's experience go from "ordinary" to "exceptional". It brings us much pleasure and satisfaction to offer our travelers these comforts, and we are glad they were of use to you! We are glad you enjoyed your Double Chic room and the outdoor tub. Our Grand Chic rooms offer a bit more space as well as a balcony view and special guest services such as private dining, but we are happy that you found what you were looking for in our Double Chic room. On behalf of all of the staff at Hoi An Chic, thank you for choosing us during your visit to Hoi An, and we hope we can have the both of you at our retreat again soon!

Warm wishes,

Pham Vu Dzung- Owner

The Hoi An Chic is a best kept secret. It's location is half way between the beaches and the old town but away from the hustle and noise of the streets and set amongst paddy fields, and so is blissfully quiet. The hotel was only 5 months old when I stayed (June 2013) and it shows as everything is brand new, clean and of a high standard - where as other hotels in Hoi An are a little dated. The staff are brilliant and are really friendly and welcoming - I even got a goodbye hug when I left! You can borrow bikes for free and cycle around Hoi An and they even offer a free tour of the local area on a bufffalo cart! I dont need to add any photos as the hotel is exactly as their website shows - immaculate, peaceful and perfect.

After leaving important belongings and iPad in Hanoi, the staff did not stop assisting me until my things were back safely with me. Really saved the whole holiday! Such great staff, beautiful location, rooms were so clean, night turn down. Loved every minute. Such a nice vibe there, relaxing, happy, upbeat and still peaceful and tranquil. This place is a perfect getaway! If you think you want to stay 3 days, book 4 at least!

We really loved our stay at this hotel. The location is outside of the main part of town, and this is what makes it so special. You wake up in the morning to see farmers plowing the rice fields with water buffalo. Not to mention their grounds are beautiful and very relaxing. The pool is small, but very nice and no one uses it in the evening – which we find more enjoyable – especially if there is a full moon!

We had one of the larger rooms with a ground floor patio and an outdoor tub and shower. Some people commented on the privacy of this, but we did not feel that privacy was an issue, and we liked this unique experience. The room was very clean and nicely decorated.

We also enjoyed the staff – extremely friendly, and willing to do anything to make your stay special.

The hotel provides bicycles for free and we greatly enjoyed cycling around the rice fields and through the local towns. The routes are flat and well-paved, making for a relaxing ride… and the local citizens are incredibly friendly.
The breakfasts are adequate, especially if you stick to the fresh eggs cooked to order. We did not eat dinner at the restaurant.

We will definitely stay at this hotel again when returning to Hoi An.

Room Tip: we liked the ground floor room with outdoor tub ad shower.

We stayed for six nights from the 17th to the 24th of May and had a fantastic stay. Due to the start of the off peak season we got a great rate on the Grand Chic room and loved every minute of our time in Hoi An.

As per other reviews our initial concerns about the location were unwarranted - the use of bicycles, free hotel transfers or cheap local taxis made the trips in and out of town or to the beach all very easy and stress free. The peace and quiet of the hotels surroundings added to the serenity of our stay and we loved cycling into town or to the beaches, including following our noses through the various pathways alongside the paddy fields.

The hotel itself is super clean and the staff are all very friendly. We can't understand some of the negative comments on here regarding the staff as our experience was nothing but positive. Every member of staff acknowledges you, even if just a smile which only helps cement the relaxed, friendly atmosphere around the hotel. The girls on reception speak very good English, are great fun and go out their way to assist you. It was always a pleasure to pass through reception and have a laugh with them and they really made us feel welcome.

The Grand Chic room was incredibly spacious. The room was well appointed with complimentary water provided every day. The bathroom was pretty impressive and the bed extremely comfortable. The air conditioning and additional fan kept the room lovely and cool. Throughout our stay the room/ bathroom were kept very clean. The water pressure wasn't the best, it took an age to run a bath (we only tried once), but the shower was more then adequate.

The pool lacks some shade - we were out most days so that didn't seem to be an issue and breakfast aside, the restaurant's food could be improved on but with some wonderful restaurants and a great atmosphere only a few minutes away in Hoi An old town, eating at the hotel was never a priority for us in selecting the Hoi An Chic. Also the wi-fi was rather hit and miss in our room although in the restaurant it was perfectly fine.

Looking back on our trip we would happily stay at the Hoi An Chic again should we come back to Vietnam. It's a great hotel in a lovely location with fantastic staff.

Room Tip: We stayed in a Grand Chic room which was on the second (?) floor and very quiet, spacious and had gr...

Dear Traveler,

We are very happy that you found Hoi An Chic's location the way we intended it to be: a great combination of convenience and serenity. Hoi An Chic was carefully placed in a way which allows us to give our travelers a taste of rural Vietnamese country life, but without having to go very far to see all of Hoi An's popular destinations. While staying in Old Town may be very convenient for those who want a quick stroll to sights like the Japanese Bridge, we find that many guests agree that our location is the perfect compromise for those who want to go out during the day to the hustle and bustle of Old Town's markets, but who want to relax in peace and enjoy a swim in the pool while viewing the rice fields and local farmers at work. We are also glad you found your room comfortable: Vietnam is a hot place, and we want our guests to be as comfortable as possible, so good air con is essential! Having said that, we are sad that during your stay you had not found our wifi and bath water pressure on par with the quality of the rest of our retreat. Though we do everything we can to avoid such incidents, we also do our best in resolving any issues our guests may have with their service as quickly as possible should they occur. We apologize for any inconveniences that you may have had while staying with us. Thank you very much for the kind words and helpful insight about Hoi An Chic! We hope to see you again on your next visit to Vietnam!

Sincerely,

Pham Vu Dzung- Owner

When you drive up to the hotel it looks beautiful nestled in the rice patties. We visited this hotel in early feb and the rice fields were a sea of green. Our room was very nice but next to the pool and kitchen. Bathroom was well done except if you wanted to take a shower or go to the toilet without the people in the next building looking at you. The tiles in the shower are a death trap and the water doesn't drain away. I slipped and fell smashing a soap pump bottle and almost my hip. I told the lady at reception about the fall and all she was worried about was the super expensive soap pump bottle and the amount I had to pay for the breakage . I refused to pay as it was there fault the tiles are not correct floor tiles for a shower and putting something that breaks so easy in a shower is silly. I stuck to my guns and after 3 phone calls to her manager and not once asking if I was ok the breakage was waved. Things like this can ruin your stay all over a $5 soap pump when a nice soap would have been much better.

Dear Travelers,

First and foremost, I would like to apologize for your experience after your accident here at Hoi An Chic. We absolutely do care about the health and safety of our visitors, and we do everything we can to ensure that incidents like these don't occur. Though we have since resolved any water drainage issues, we are terribly sorry that they were present during your stay with us. Furthermore, I agree that this matter should have been resolved in a different manner; it seems there may have been an issue in communication on part of our staff which led to your impression about their lack of understanding and concern in regards to your fall. Please do not let this be an indication of the manner in which our staff holds regard for our guests. We have since made improvements to our approach should incidents like these ever occur again, and will do our best to understand and care for our guests in times such as yours Thank you for your insight on this issue, and we promise to remember this in order to help our travelers in a positive way when an accident does happen. We hope to have another chance to give you the same level of service as many other travelers have experienced here at Hoi An Chic. Please allow us to make it up to you on your next visit to Hoi An, and we promise to make your time a much more enjoyable one! Many thanks and apologies to you again, and best of luck to you on your future travels.

Sincerely,
