“Lovely Hotel by the River”
Reviewed 31 May 2013

We stayed 6 nights in a Deluxe river view room which was also right beside the pool and also looked out on the river. We could not fault anything about the hotel other than the extremely hot temperature of the swimming pool. The weather was exceptionally hot during our stay in Hoi An which no doubt added to the hot swimming pool. The pool was lovely, but way to warm which was very disappointing as we particularly paid extra to stay at a hotel with a nice pool.

The hotel is very new and the rooms at the were large and clean. We had a couple of great dinners in the hotel restaurant which were great, and also very nice breakfasts. Staff were very friendly and very helpful with any information we required. Just across the street from the hotel was a good laundry service and they also provided a transport by car option to Da Nang airport which we used. We would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Hoi An.

My wife and I had a massage and my wife also had a manicure and pedicure.
Vivian and the girls Lena Kathy Amy and Hien were very welcoming and professional. My back hasn't felt so good, we had the Vinh hung signature special. Great mix of firm yet soothing techniques. We'll be back for more before we leave

We loved staying here and wish we had stayed the whole 6 nights instead of going to another hotel after 4 nights now. (Hoian Chic)
It is not a huge hotel which we like and its setting is lovely. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the location is perfect and within a 5 min walk to the old town. it is situated on the river with a free boat ride which was great! It gave a real perspective on where we were situated in Hoi An.
The breakfast was usual hotel fare but we chose to eat out at the morning markets where food was cheap, authentic and delicious!
There are laundry cleaning services across the road for $1 a kg and we chose Mrs Le on the corner her son was lovely. They also have bikes to rent but we chose to walk.
The only complaint I have about the hotel is the noisy slamming doors! We were in a suite on the third floor and it was like a gun going off every time someone shut their room door. They really need to add rubber seals to the doors to dampen the noise. Also no irons available don't know why that is. In Thailand they wash and iron your clothes but Vietnam they only wash I tried to ask for ironing but it was lost in translation.
We loved our room with its huge bathroom and balcony with swing chair. A suggestion we have is that it would be great to have individual bed lamps by the bedside as it was a pain to turn the lights off and my husband had to put up with the lights on while I read, which I do before I go to sleep. Just a small LED reading light would have been perfect.
The house cleaning staff left lovely flower messages on our bed each day which was delightful. So sweet.
We will be back in Hoi An again and we will seriously consider staying at Vin Hung Emerald once more. A great hotel!

Booked a "Deluxe river view" room and it was great. Had a balcony that looked directly onto the river. The room was tops and the grounds were immaculate. The pool was excellent and there was a fitness centre that looked well equipped but understandably deserted as it was 100 in the shade.
The dining room is set in the gardens, very nice. The food is top quality with a wide selection that is constantly topped up. The resort is located a short distance down an alley from the main restaurant stretch, (the taxi driver couldn't find it at first as there a now 4 Vinh Hung locations), but this is not a problem. There are small shops just outside the resort selling drinks and hiring bicycles, (a great way to get around). The reception staff were helpful and friendly. We booked the room on agoda for $60 a night, very affordable. I can't fault the place - great.

We stayed here with our four children aged 14, 12, 9 and 7 for three nights. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were small, but clean and the beds were very comfortable. We had a nice stay here. I do think the hotel is more suitable for couples rather than families. The location is good, walking distance to restaurants and night market.

Stayed here with my 9 year old son who loved the great pool.Never crowded by the pool even if it looked like the hotel was full. Great location, quiet surroundings but just a short walk to the old town. Good food in the restaurant (though you get more authentic Vietnamese food other places), great breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely stay here again.

We booked to stay for four nights here and looked forward to it. However, we were taken aback  by a cold and even rude but beautifully dressed receptionist there. The next day we also encountered a moody waitress. Perhaps it's us after all? Anyway, we mentioned about the receptionist to one of the  next shift receptionists, and the management apologised  for our experience. We do appreciate that.

We were first place on the first room on the ground floor- room 101. We had to ask to be moved as we'd booked ( through Agoda) a "pool view room" and not a kitchen/ restaurant view room). If this matters to you, make sure you are placed on the first floor or second floor and/ or as far away from the restaurant as possible. Otherwise get a river view room.

Anyway, about the place itself. As mentioned in other reviews, the infinity pool and the setting are wonderful. The room is quite new with tea making facility, a fridge, and a flat screen TV. The modern bathroom/shower is quite nice.

The location is good if you want to be near Hoi An old city. It's just a  3-5 minute walk from the Japanese Bridge. You can get a ticket with 5-6 entrances to interesting places at a small official kiosk near the bridge. I believe the entrances include Than Ha pottery village- three kms.  away.

The nearest beach- Cua Dai and An Bahn beaches are five and eight kms. away in the other direction- very doable by a bicycle rented from small shops opposite the hotel (one shop can also rent an electric bicycle at your request).

Room Tip: Prefer first floor rooms, and away from the kitchen/ restaurant.
