“Better than more expensive hotel in Hoi An”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2013

Good location, 10minutes walk to Old town, 5 minutes walk to some restaurants cafe along the riverside just across from Hoi an old town. However it is in quite and peaceful neighbourhood away from the crowd.
The hotel is not so big so everything feels more human and intimate, pool is rather small but due to hotel size it never gets too crowded. Nice garden overlooking the river.
Breakfast is superb, I enjoyed the mix of traditional and western style buffet spread - dont forget to try the coffee especially the vietnamese ice coffee! (it's a bit decadent for breakfast but you have an excuse in Hoi An as the weather gets very hot even during the morning time).

Room good size and clean, decent quality bed and other furnitures.

Just outside the hotel there is cheap laundry and small vendors selling can drinks, beer and water to refill the room fridge.

Stayed two nights in June and very happy with the experience. Stayed another two night at a beach resort at the seaside (Cua Dai beach) and paying almost 4 times, I think I am still happier with my stay in Vin Hung Emerald.
I am looking forward to another opportunity to stay there longer with some good books (by the way the wireless signal is strong inside and outside the room even at pool and restaurant area).

Just minor negative point: not close to the beach (but you should know that already) and the spa (attached to the hotel) experience was not too great according to the wife.

Room Tip: all rooms seems to be facing the inner courtyard with the pool. however i think higher floor rooms h...

I just left the Vinh Hung Emerald Resort, and it certainly lived up to its reviews. Everything about the hotel is excellent. The rooms are well appointed with balconies. Mine looked out over the Thu Bon River: what an expansive view! The infinity pool is well maintained, and the restaurant's food rivals some of the best restaurants in town The staff is gracious and friendly, and the manager takes great care of his guests. A really wonderful stay at a fabulous hotel.

Also, it's just around the corner from a lively intersection in Old Town. You can rent bicycles across the street for the equivalent of $1.50 a day, and have your laundry done for $1.00 a load.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the river are incredible.

We stayed here in June 2013 and it was fantastic value for money and a wonderfully relaxing stay. The hotel is located on the river and the pool has wonderful views down to the water front as does the restaurant. Having a pool at this time of year was a god send as it was so hot so a great spot to cool down after exploring the town. I would much prefer to be here with a pool and outdoor feel than stuck in a hotel in town.
Its about a 10 minute walk to the Japanese bridge and the heart of the town and there are lots of great restaurants close by to eat. Cava and Mango Rooms are 2 I would recommend.
The hotel is newest of the Vinh Hung resorts (there are 5) but I would recommend this or the Riverside which is next door as they have more of a resort feel and the benefit of a pool. The Riverside also looks nice and has lots of rooms on the river itself where as the Emerald has less rooms with a river view. The rooms themselves are new and clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was good with a huge shower and all rooms had nice balconies. Cable TV, fridge and safe were all provided.
Breakfast was the best we had in Vietnam and included an omelette chef. We had lunch there also which was good but always ate out in the evening as restaurants are so good in Hoi An. There is also a pool bar which is handy. I also used the spa for a good pedicure (and half the price of the UK)
Staff were extremely friendly as were all people we met in Vietnam. Highly recommended and I would go back.
Make sure you contact them for a taxi pick up from the airport as this is cheaper than picking up a taxi at the airport.

Room Tip: We stayed in a pool view room which was lovely. You could pay more for a river view or suite but not...

We originally booked only two nights at this resort but kept extending our stay for up to 7 days. The hotel is in a lovely setting right next to the river and a short 5min stroll to the Japanese bridge. The staff are very friendly and we could see in our 7 days here that they were well trained and worked very hard. We loved the clean towels every evening!!!The breakfast was absolutely delicious with fresh fruit, Vietnamese style dishes and also a variety of Western food. We would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely be back on our next visit to Hoi An.

Quiet resort, but does not lack atmosphere, 3 min walk to the Hoi An old town. The staff here were all young, helpful and friendly. Everything is new and clean, breakfast was the usual buffet with omelette station, but still good. The deluxe pool view rooms are 3 m from the pool, but still have a private feel with the lush tropical gardens. We hired push bikes or scooters for a couple of dollars each day from across the road to get around town, and to the beach. We stayed for 5 nights, but could easily do 10 at this resort, it is relaxing, safe, welcoming and the perfect size.

Hot, humid weather aside (can't put that on the hotel), our experience at this hotel was excellent. We stayed in two types of rooms: the pool view and the riverview suite. Both very nice and worth the price. The beds are comfortable; everything works well. The bedroom and bathroom of the riverview suite is a good bit larger than the deluxe pool room, but there was nothing shabby about the pool view room. We moved because there were no pool view rooms available for a few nights during our 9 night stay. The riverview suite also has a bigger balcony, with a hanging basket swing chair in addition to the 2 wicker chairs and table. The balconies were delightful for reading or just daydreaming.

The staff were attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. There was never anything that we asked that they could not answer, either immediately or after investigating and reporting back. There is a fitness room with 2 treatmills (new), a 'portable' stair stepper and one other piece of equipment that I am not familiar with. There are several sets of hand weights, starting with 5 kg. The grounds are attractive and kept very clean and tidy. The infinity swimming pool is a centerpiece and more lovely than the photos depict on their website. The breakfast buffet, included in the price, is extensive and every day several of the items changed. In all our breakfasts, we never tired of the selection and always found some items that had not been offered before.

The walk to Ancient Town is an easy stroll. There are plenty of good restaurants on An Hoi Islet, so if you aren't inclined to walk across the lantern bridge into Ancient Town you won't find yourself in a restaurant desert. In fact, there are several excellent restaurants on the Islet. Also, the hotel has a bar menu as well as lunch and dinner menu so you don't even have to leave the premises if you desire a day of 'do nothing but relax.' Situated next to the river, each afternoon pleasant breezes kicked in. No mosquito problem here. I had a massage at the recently opened on premises spa. It was excellent. I have been getting monthly massages for a back issue for at least 10 years; I would rank this massage as being as good as, and in some ways even better than, my massages at home.

If you are seeking an oasis in Hoi An that is convenient to town, can offer breezes to counter the heat, is pleasantly designed and employs great staff, I'd encourage you to consider booking at Vinh Hung Emerald Resort. Vinh Hung has other resorts in Hoi An, one just down the street and also on the river (VH Riverside Resort). But we cannot attest to it other than comment on the grounds that we saw on a quick cruise about them. The setting, grounds and swimming pool & jacuzzi are lovely. However, we are not sorry we selected VH Emerald Resort, and we would not hesitate to return. The room prices for the quality are quite good. Our 9 night stay flew by. That alone is a testament to how much we liked the resort.

My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel during a two month trip around SE Asia in April and it was by far the most memorable accommodation of the trip. In fact, we continually compared every hotel/guesthouse/hostel to VH Emerald for the rest of our trip after leaving. We received an amazing fruit basket upon arrival (dragonfruit! such a local delight) which was totally unexpected, thoroughly enjoyed the pool and its accompanying happy hour drinks daily (mojitos... not as much of a local delight), and found the location just off the tourist trail to be perfect for feeling like we had a little oasis from the crowds. There were even several moto/bike rental places right across the street that we were able to access for day trips! Room was lovely, simple but just right with all of the necessities as they should be. The staff even waited up for us to arrange our check out and a cab to the airport at 4am. A truly great stay in idyllic little Hoi An.
