“A must stay when in Hoi An”
Reviewed 16 July 2013

Words alone cannot describe the magnificence known as the Vinh Hung Emerald Resort. The experience commences with the helpful and friendly reception staff who provided a refreshing cool drink upon arrival. All employees of the establishment and the meals in the restaurant were superb. This is no doubt due to the excellent leadership of the General Manager Mr Thuy and Mr Nesty.

Having stayed in Hoi An central area previously, the Emerald Resort had been recommended to me as being very new, clean and located on the river. The resort being only a short walk to the township and has a great laundry service.

I was in Vietnam for one month using the Emerald Resort on 2 occasions during this time - the first for 2 days and the second for 9 days. My rooms on both occasions were spacious, clean and very well serviced.

My trip was mostly work related (photography) in the Quang Nam province and after a hectic day ‘in the field’, poolside and its happy hour was the perfect place to relax and unwind. The wi-fi (free) reception was excellent allowing me to use my laptop with ease.

The ambience of the resort is stunning, with sunsets being described as sensational. A definite place to stay when in Hoi An!

We were lucky to get a room here when the hotel we had reserved was unexceptable. Big room, huge bathroom, great AC, beautiful pool, yummy banana pancakes (and other items!) at breakfast, and kind staff. I had an excellent massage that finally worked the travel kinks out of my neck.

This hotel is a bit away from town but really only a ten minute walk. When you arrive you feel like you are in an oasis away from the dusty busy town.

The pool is incredible (with a nice kid section). But it is a bit warm because it is in full sun.

I would come back again for sure!

The pool is the best part of this hotel/resort. It's big and with a nice view and the service there is good also. Quiet and convenient location was another big plus.

We had a suite, which I feel was a bit small except for the bathroom which was spacious. Everything clean and in a good shape as the hotel is new. Breakfast was nice with good selection, banana pancakes were yummy

All in all nice place but lacks a bit of character.

Room Tip: Safety box alarms were common as people tried to figure out how they work. Safety boxes are a bit di...

This is a lovely riverside retreat just set back from the old town. It is just a 5 minute walk and nice to have the quiet of the resort. The rooms are spacious, clean and very recently renovated/could be new. We had a quiet riverside room. The view was beautiful. There are boats going down the river every now and then, which can be noisy, but to be expected! This is a little gem of a resort.

We loved this hotel, and wished we could have stayed for longer!

It's in a perfect location, a 5 minute stroll away from the edge of the town, through a couple of back streets. I was in a wheelchair and we felt completely safe walking through these side streets late at night, although they could benefit from a little more lighting, (nothing to do with the hotel!). It's also located right on the riverfront, with a lovely infinity pool looking straight into the river. A perfect way to unwind from a day of wandering!

The hotel does a free boat tour service along the river every morning at 10.45 am, and although we didn't take advantage of this as we just didn't have time, this is a lovely touch.

As I'm in a wheelchair, we requested an accessible room before arrival and were given the first room on the ground floor, with a removal ramp through the front door. This was perfect with regards to accessibility from the outside world, but unfortunately a little bit away from the pool area. It's also the main thoroughfare to the restaurant and the hotel exit, so unfortunately we didn't feel we could use our good sized balcony as there was no privacy.

The rooms were a good size, and the beds were huge! You could easily sleep 4 people in them! Unfortunately though they were really hard, which was disappointing. Although our room did have a walk in shower, it wouldn't be accessible for a wheelchair unfortunately as there's not enough room to manoeuvre a wheelchair around the toilet. If you can walk a few steps however, then it would be fine. Request a seat for the shower.

Breakfast was good, with a fair selection of items. The manger also does tours of the floor, greeting guests, and giving information which is nice.

The pool area isn't very disabled friendly unfortunately. There are gradual steps to get into the pool, but unfortunately these are in the kids section, which is strangely wired off from the rest of the pool, so I spent my time in there, (to be honest though, you could sit on a ledge here, so I was quite happy) rather than in the main pool. There's a pool bar to bring you a selection of drinks.

One thing to note, reception is up many stairs, so I have no idea what it looks like, as I was unable to visit this area unfortunately.

Staff were all very friendly and very helpful, even sending off a large package of clothes back home for us! We would definitely say here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room closer to the river & pool, away from the restaurant, for privacy.

We had 4 nights here and loved it. The staff were great and looked after me very well after I fell one night and cut my knee badly. The pool area was welcoming with comfortable loungers and soft cushions. Lovely room and the breakfast was very good. Love the Vietnamese coffee - both iced and hot.

Loved this resort, I wish I could stay longer! Friendly staffs (especially Nhan), and I missed their vietnam coffee at the restaurant, it's fantastic.

Big and comfortable bed, nice rain shower stall, TV with lots of channels for tourists from around the world. Nice pool area, wish they could provide more deckchairs for guests.

Also, they do provide free-of-charge boat trip on Thu Bon River so remember to reserve your seats upon arrival!
