I have stayed here at Ancient House for three nights. It has a great pool area for when the town and traffic become too much. The rooms are spacious and interesting in architecture. The beds are extremely comfortable and the bathroom is fantastic. Only drawback is the airconditioning wasn't working in my room but I didn't spend much time there during the day anyway. Lovely reasonably priced hotel/resort slightly away from the action.

After we had paid our bill a few days ago, and were about to leave, Jetstar phoned us to say that our flight to HCM had been delayed, meaning we would miss our connecting flight back to Aust. They were not interested in helping us, even though the connection was also a Jetstar flight - in fact, they hung up on us.
The Ancient House staff swung into action, spending at least an hour booking an alternative flight to HCM for us, sending a driver to collect our ticket, then several conversations with Jetstar later, they arranged for a refund to be paid to us at the Jetstar office in Danang, enroute to the airport. To top it off, the manager took the 40 min. trip with us, taking charge in the Jetstar office and placing the refund into our hands. On top of that, he would not accept a tip for his wonderful assistance!
I can't speak highly enough of their help, remembering that we had actually already paid, so they could easily have given up after the first telephone call, as the line was constantly busy.
On top of all that, the resort is lovely, and excellent value, particularly as we had just come from Laos, where something equivalent would have been far more expensive. If you get a Garden View room or above ($70US), you get a large room with the bonus of computer provided with very fast internet access. The beach is about a 20min. bike ride away, and the old town about 10mins. Don't be put off by the traffic. Just cycle slowly and steadily like everyone else, and all will move around you. For a lovely dinner spot, turn right out the back gate and walk for about 10-15mins to the second restaurant on the left
after a few other shops. You will see a hotel on the opposite side of the road as you head towards town, and it is on the left a little after that (wish I'd kept its name). Fabulous tuna in banana leaf, and chicken in a claypot.
. You will see a big hotel opposite you, and it's just after that.

We stayed in in a room with adjoining room - an extended room ( for the kids). Both rooms were big, spacious and clean. We love the space!. there is even a lap top in each room! the kids simply love the hotel! worth the money we spent!
We went through local tour agent ( Vietnam fun travel) the managing director, Yen, is very friendly. best of all, she was always contactable at any time. I was having slight problem boarding the train, she called me back when I sms her ( I didn't think she was awake! - it was almost 5 am!!) which tour agent will do that for you? not many!
vietnam is beautiful, though I don't like the tenaciousness of the tribes in Sapa ( to persuade you to buy their goods). Bargain ..bargain...bargain!! I was fleeced for not bargaining enough!

This place is great! Really good set up, with attentive and friendly staff and reasonable prices and great food at the restaurant! The rooms are large and airy with good sized bathrooms and comfortable beds. It's a wee bit out of the center of Hoi an, but there are scooters for hire directly next door for very reasonable prices, and it takes hardly any time to get into town via scooter.

We chose the Ancient House resort on a whim after getting a good rate on lastminute.com, and were not disappointed.
The layout of the resort is really cool with lots of garden surroundings. Rooms were clean, light, airy and had nice big bathrooms.
The staff were attentive and friendly - and each day by about 11am they had set up a cocktail bar by the pool so we didn't have to leave our lounge chairs to get a drink! Also on one of the nights they'd set up dining tables by the pool which was romantic and relaxing.
Only gripe was the noise - waking up to roosters crowing in the middle of the night was not ideal. It wasn't just daybreak it was all the time. I always travel with earplugs so would recommend doing the same if you are a light sleeper. Also there always seemed to be some sort of maintenance going on but I'm sure the staff were being as considerate as possible when getting this done.
Hoi An is a beautiful little town and 3 days was definitely not enough time there, especially as one of the days was spent getting clothes tailored - it didn't leave us enough time for site seeing.

We stayed a couple of weeks after Typhoon Ketsana and you could barely tell if anything had happened there, it was all back to normal. The room was fabulous with a massive four poster bed, huge walk in shower, lovely stone feature bath, in room laptop with wifi and it was really good value as well. The pool was lovely, the gardens were delightful, the staff were friendly and helpful. They provide regular free mini buses to town and the beach (both are close). We ended up using the free bikes quite often and it was a quick 5 minute ride into town, it was great fun. Cold towels always awaited your return to the hotel.
The only negative thing about the hotel was the breakfast. It was rather poor. Even the coffee was horrible! But for what you pay, you can always get something nice and cheap from one of the many nice restaurants instead and it certainly wouldn't stop me going back to this charming hotel.

Unfortunately we stayed only one night as part of a private tour through Vietnam. The nicest hotel rooms of our journey. Interesting design has the feel of a resort more than a hotel, which it really is. Lovely grounds, nice restaurant and helpful staff. Our family of four (two teenagers) shared a lovely suite, whereas we normally had to book two rooms in Vietnam. The other traveler with us had a very spacious room. There was a small, attractive swimming pool that, like many in Vietnam, was too warm to be truly refreshing. Hoi An is a place we intend to return to, and we will definitely book again at the Ancient House.
