We first visited this property twice last year when it was still Life Heritage. We loved it, so we returned this year now as Anantara. New name, & much much higher rates, also the package deals available were not as good as we had last year. So what did we get for our extra $ ?. Bottled water in quantities that meant you didn't need to purchase any to supplement what you received, around the pool we would receive a small "treat", sometimes a small juice or small Vietnamese coffee, a piece of fruit or small piece of cake etc. Also scented cold towels occasionally handed out also. These were all great and much appreciated. These are the only things we could find for our extra $ that wasn't the same as last year. Other than the new name.
The rooms are still spacious and comfortable, we never had a problem with any part of the room or bathroom, towels are huge white & fluffy. The up-keep of the resort is to commended, you never see a scuff mark on a wall for longer than a day or two before the never ending team of painters cover it up so everything looks clean all the time. Which I know after working in hotels myself, that this is very hard to achieve with the constant rubbing from cases being carted around. The staff, many of whom were there last year and recognised us, are without exception, kind, gentle and extremely caring & helpfull. The grounds are beautifully maintained, the pool does get a bit warmer after a continual run of sunny days but we still found it refreshing and we don't see how this could be changed anyway. There is plenty of shade around it and we always were able to find a sunbed. Towels here were also large and thick. Breakfast is fresh and changed slightly each day, even though we were there for 13 nights we didn't get bored with it. I hope they don't include many more Western dishes though.
So would we come again? Definitely, but only if like this time we were able to pick up a more reduced rate than we were offered via the resorts website.

Room Tip: we had a garden view room which was lovely, with plenty of space.

Suites are ok, but staff pretty indifferent. This is surprising and more noticeable after some of the great people wa have encountered. We had a squeaky fan in our room and couldn't get it fixed over the three nights we were here. The laundry lady outside the hotel is the best and cheapest in vietnam

Room Tip: Don't get a room with children staying next door or a squeaky fan

+ location. Near old town and close to everything. The pool is square, clean and relaxing to sit by. Yoga in the mornings and breakfast included. Orange lanterns in the tree at the front are a nice touch. The. Free bikes. it's obviously trying.
-s airport transfer vehicle old and tatty (frayed seats, missing headrests), water doesn't drain away from the shower so standing in a pool of water, musty smell, beds right next to the bathroom so hear everything. Rebrand of former hotel so older building. Menu lacks vietnamese choices. When we went to have tapas started movie night - Mr Bean and no one was interested but kept playing it - enough said. Closed the courtyard to do a photography shoot during peak service. 6.30pm -7.30pm.

We stayed 5 nights and loved this resort/hotel. The staff were VERY friendly and helpfull, the rooms and grounds were clean and well maintained. The breakfast offering was good with plenty of choices.
The location of this hotel makes it a great choice as its a easy 5min walk into the town centre and you can just walk everywhere. If we return to Hoi An then we will defiently be staying here again and will recomend it to anyone we know who's heading to Hoi An.
The laundry shops just outside the entry are good value, quick and do a good job.

Room Tip: The local rosters get started early so if you want a sleep in take ear plugs. But its still much be...

Resort really nice and very close to markets, old quarter, Japanese Bridge etc. very friendly staff as is common in Vietnam. Room was quite spacious and well air conditioned plus Wi Fi worked really well. Big let down was the food both breakfast and dinner, however there are plenty of options nearby. Trip tip use the laundry people at the entrance to the resort, very cheap and they do a great job too.

Our stay in Hoi An woud have to have been the highlight ouf our 2 1/2 week stay in Vietnam and the the Anantara Resort had a lot to do with this. We travelled in June 2013 and could not fault the room, the service, the breakfast (LOVED the breakfasts!) and the close proximity to the Old Quarter.

I also have to agree with a previous reviewer about the bathroom. Excellent!

The pool is large, with a small kiddies pool if needed, the grounds are spacious and the staff are friendly. We were orignally booked into a resort near the beach, but when we we found out that it wasn't close to the centre of the Old Quarter, we arranged to change it. I'm so glad we did as it turned out to be the best hotel/resort that we stayed at.
