I really enjoyed my stay at Anantara so much so that it prompted me to stay at another of their hotels when I visited Thailand. Being a solo traveller, I like the peace and quiet, and this is the only area which I felt let the hotel down as there was no separate pool for children. In fact the pool area is really small. That aside, the rest of the hotel offered exactly what I wanted from this part of my tour of Vietnam. Great location, comfortable rooms good food and two separate happy hours!
Just around the corner from Brother's cafe (great garden restaurant) and just a short walk to the market and old town.
I got some clothes made at Papillion Noir on the road leading to the Japanese bridge (hand painted silk, not cheap but excellent quality) can also recommend Q bar for light snacks and an excellent chocolate martini.
If Anantara had a pool suite option I would definitely return.

Our room was on the first floor of a block that was very clean and tidy, well decorated. The room was beautiful with a comfortable seating area upon entrance. Three steps up and you were in the open planned bedroom with a large bed that was very comfortable. The whole room was very clean and well appointed and nicely furnished and well decorated. The bathroom was also of the same standard with an open walk-in shower. The room was light and had good aircon. The restaurant was very good serving top quality food. All staff were professional, attentive, very friendly and polite. The bar was good as was the coffee and cake shop well appointed. It had a well set out out door seating area that was comfortable. Good breakfasts with a great river view. Very well set out pool area with plenty of good towels and beds. This was a very nice hotel.

We stayed here two years ago when it was Life Resort and loved it. Today, half the rooms back up to a new road being constructed about 20 ft. away. The first morning we were awaken at 6:20 to the rumble of a diesel engine on a construction truck which ran for a half hour. When the street is completed, the sound will be constant motorbikes and horn honks which is part of driving in Viet Nam. Again, 20 ft. away. And the building is two story. Going to take a 30 ft. high sound wall.

We were in Rm.125. DON'T accept a first floor room at the end of the building if it has a staircase attached to your side wall. You will hear every woman's clicking high heel or sandal heel as it hits each concrete step. Also, the kids love to run up and down the stairs yelling. Worse yet, under the stairs are storage areas for the staff. Doors open and close, things are moved around and you hear it all through the wall. AVOID ALL ROOMS WITH STAIRS ATTACHED ON THE OUTSIDE SIDE WALL.

Finally, after 16 years of travelling to SE Asia, you get good at judging buffet breakfasts. The Anantara's is average to mediocre at best. The presentation is simple and the selection limited. When you pay Anantara prices you expect more.

Will we stay here again? Probably not, especially with the new street. The Cui Dai beach area offers much better venues and value.

In Anantara's defense, the rooms are nice, probably the nicest in Old Town, but the beach area is better.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Antanara. It is located just on the outskirts of hoi an old city, maybe 5-10minutes walk, but there are free bicycles available, which we loved riding (dont expect gears, brakes or even air jn your tires, but use your bell to cycle the vietnamese way - dont stop at any crossroad, just ding, go and hope for the best!).

The staff in the hotel are great, so friendly and helpful. Many thanks to Duc for his excellent restaurant recommendations.

The swimming pool area is very pleasant, but perhaps would need more sun loungers in busy periods.

The room had a slightly unusual layout which certainly would not be to everyones taste - there is a small "balcony" which you enter through off the main walkway, as such, this cannot really be used as a balcony for sitting on as you would essentially be sitting on the corridor. The room is then split level with a seating area, the bed and finally bathroom at the rear of the room. The room appeared recently modernised, and everything was well cared for. Our one recommendation would be to invest in shower curtains, whilst this may detract from the lines they have tried to create in the bathroom, water splashes everywhere and the floor becomes very slippery. Also the only light into the room is through the windows on the main walkway, as such for any privacy, you need to keep the blinds shut. Although we liked the room, i can see how many people would not.

Spa staff also very friendly and I enjoyed an excellent massage. Can highly recommend.

Recently my wife and had had the pleasure of staying in Hoi An's little piece of paradise. The hotel is extremely well presented from the beautiful gardens to the amply sized and presented rooms . We had a room with river views which allowed sweeping views of the river and presented a never ending display of life as the locals went about their daily activities. the staff were exceptional in their presentation and manner. The hotels location close to the old city ( (out the front door and up the street) and its relative closeness to the beach made it the perfect fit. Bicycles were available and allowed us the easily explore from the city to the beach , through the palm forest, market gardens and rice fields. The pool was great to relax in during the days heat. nothing was to much trouble for the staff. I will return and thoroughly recommend as a place to stay.

Room Tip: Suggest a room with river views if available. Great views of sunset and its fascinating watching the...

Recently returned from 10 day holiday in Hoi An, great place to visit, plenty to do. Stayed at Anantara Hoi An Resort, perfect location on the edge of the old city, overlooking the river. Easy 1 minute walk into the old city but when in hotel grounds quite & peaceful. Great architecture and facilities, free bicyles, large rooms, generous breakfast buffet, discreet & respectful staff. Thoroughly recommend as a great place to stay

We had a riverbank room and it excellent, the locals start moving on the river very early but it never worried us too much. The room was excellent, very clean and the room service and laundry was very good. Nice pool and a great place to relax around the pool.
The meals at the hotel were excellent, breakfast upstairs was very good and the choice was amazing, the restaurant was excellent as was the bar service and drinks.
The staff were superb, polite, friendly and so helpful, we can't overstate how good they were to us.
There is much to see in and around Hoi An, We did some very enjoyable tours but we also greatly enjoyed wandering around the old city, enjoying the sites and shopping, much of it is very "third world" but it was a great experience and we always felt very safe. We did not pre plan any of our trips, we did three or fours tours that the hotel recommended we try.
Jack Tran's fishing trip was excellent as was a trips to The Mi Son temples and the Silk factory and I'd recommend the tour of the markets gardens. We enjoyed grabbing a bike from the hotel and often rode for miles, there are some very good bars close by and numerous very good places to eat.
It was a different sort of holiday for us but very enjoyable and hopefully we'll be back soon.

Room Tip: Maybe off the river if you are a light sleeper
