“Good resort for family”
Reviewed 3 May 2011

We stayed in one of the pool view rooms and it was a good choice! Having to pay a little extra for quality guaranteed the enjoyment of my family. The beach was nice but the experience could be improved with more activities or massage treatments. Breakfast quality was good but could use a little more variety, especially for travellers like us who stayed for 5 days. Staff were friendly but there's still room for service improvement. Overall, we had a great time.

We had a wonderful stay thanks to the exceptional service of the Duty Manager, Tommee who went beyond the call of duty to help us with our every need. The resort is just magnificent - spread out in lush gardens with a magnificent pool and deck chairs with thatched umbrellas on the beach. Hammocks on the beach and attentive staff offering you fresh towels and drinks on the beach. The swimming is fantastic. The facilities are good and we would definately return. Denise

Lovely resort, right on a white sandy beach with thatched umbrellas, and timber beach chairs which allow you to totally relax. Order food and drinks whilst on the beach, your every whim is catered for. I travelled with my sister, and we were in a superior garden room, which was very clean. Bathrobes are provided as are thongs. Hairdryer is a dryer and not a styler. No iron provided. The beds are very firm. I asked for an overlay for the mattress, together with extra pillows, and this was attended to quickly without any problem. Complimentary water is also provided. Bathroom is small but adequate. The courtesy bus is great for town, but taxis are readily available and quite cheap. My only criticism was that our room was in front of the Terrace Restaurant, which at breakfast time was not a good place to be if you wanted privacy.

Rooms were very nice and spacious, beautiful garden, great pool for children. We were there peak season over Easter and it never seemed crowded. I had read that the food wasn't so good but we were very happy with it, and there are many other options to eat in Hoi An. It is probably not a five star in the strict sense of the word but for the money we paid it was great value. Hoi An is amazing - fantastic restaurants, lovely atmosphere. We also did a boat trip and went to the historic city of My Son. Only problem was the rooms were noisy at times (although might have been our inconsiderate neighbours and a noisy wedding party).

Well designed, beautifully maintained, fastidiously clean, gorgeous location, excellent food... I can't rate this resort highly enough. This is the resort other resorts strive to be like but never quite manage, as they can't quite get the details right. On top of that, the best service I've ever had in Vietnam (where I live) - I kept thinking I was in Thailand as the staff were so friendly and helpful. I was especially grateful for the excellent follow up by the clinic staff after my toddler son fell sick - they called every day and checked up on him, and even gave us a free late check out so he could have a nap. We were on holiday with two other families who had come from overseas and regularly go on resort holidays - we all agreed this was the best resort we'd ever been to. The food was amazingly good, particularly the Vietnamese food - only criticism is that the Vietnamese restaurant lacked a bit of atmosphere and the staff weren't as friendly there... but these are quibbles. We will go back to Palm Garden again and again.

I stayed here for 5 nights with my 12yo son in a garden view room. We were lucky enough to have one on the second level which faced the ocean (even though technically it was classified as garden).

The Palm Gardens is a great spot for families looking to have a few days respite whilst touring around Vietnam. It’s certainly close enough to Hoi An town to visit all the sight seeing spots, but far enough away to feel like you’re entering a bit of an oasis when you return from the hustle and bustle of the town’s centre.

I was a bit concerned about staying here as I booked it last October and then there were a swathe of bad reviews. All I can say is this…some people must be really hard to please. I’ve travelled extensively and this hotel was absolutely fine. As for those whingeing its not 5 star, well it depends on how much you’re prepared to pay corresponds with your expectations. For around $150 per night this hotel is excellent value for money. If you want the top of the range 5 star experience, then fork out $500 + and go and stay at the Nam Hai. That said, the rooms at The Palm Garden were lovely, staff excellent, food great, grounds beautiful.

My son is an active fellow and had plenty of room to play soccer, beach volleyball etc etc .

My only suggestion would be for the hotel to up the amount of shuttle services in to town as they are quite infrequent and not at overly useful times.

However, we would definitely stay here again.
