Well maintained grounds and a beautiful beach. Breakfast was a delight. There were buses throughout the day to the ancient city of Hoi An but it was quite a distance away. The atmosphere of the hotel was not as upbeat as expected. The staff were friendly but did try to promote chosen local tailors and shoe makers.

Room Tip: Ensure you are placed in a room which is next door to a similar family structure. My husband and I...

We stayed at this resort for 9 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. My husband and I were in a double room and the kids were in a triple room next door. The rooms were clean and spacious. The beds were quite uncomfortable though. The air con was also very noisy and too cold (even on the warmest setting.) The beach at the resort is amazing and worth staying there just to experience that. The breakfast buffet was extensive. Meals and cocktails were expensive (by Vietnamese standards) but still quite good value by western standards. We ended up buying our snacks and drinks at the local supermarket instead of paying the resort prices. The staff were friendly and the customer service was very good. I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed her in May 2012. I was very pleasantly surprised at this resort. Upon arrival my first impression was so so. My first contact with the staff changed that, they speak excellent english, more so if you greet them in Vietnamese.
The room was typical hotel fare, but immaculately presented, a good size balcony.
Pools are wonderful, its more like a lake than a pool, with a spa in the middle. Pool staff were attentive, pool side drinks reasonably priced. beach is a very short walk from pool.
Resort spa is best I have experienced.
We plant to return to Hoi An in near future and when we do we will stay here for sure. Complimentary shuttle bus to Hoi An town a bonus.

Room Tip: Try and get a room with ocean views

We stayed in Palm Garden for 6 nights. It is a beautiful resort with immaculately kept manicured grounds. We had a deluxe garden room, which was big, a bit dark but always super clean every day. We did find the air con a bit loud and had to use ear plugs to drown out the noise in order to get some sleep.
The pool is quite big, however we never used it as it was quite hot and needed the breeze on the beach to keep us cool! The beach is also beautiful and as it was low season when we visited it was very quite but the peace and quiet was what we were after so it was bliss! Plenty of water sports to keep you entertained if you like that sort of thing and not overly expensive either apart from the jet ski's which are roughly the same price everywhere I've been, however slightly cheaper at £50 per hour in Palm Garden compared with the £60 or £70 I've experienced elsewhere. Good buffet breakfast. Waiting staff are very attentive, however their English wasn't great compared with the staff on reception who have excellent English. We found all staff extremely helpful and friendly and the level of service experienced on a whole was superb, something you don't get in the UK!! The resorts shuttle bus only run's 4 times a day, perhaps it's more frequent in high season, but it only cost $5 to avail of the hotel car. Hoi An is roughly 7km's from the resort and we were never waiting any longer than a minute for the hotel car and they will drop you off wherever you need to go.
I can't comment on the spa as I never used it, but they had good deals on everyday and are a hell of a lot cheaper for the same treatments you get in the UK. The Palm Garden newsletter is distributed every night to every room with the daily news for the resort as well as the spa treatment offers - I thought this newsletter was quite cute touch:o)
We never dined in the hotels restaurant at night as we wanted to experience the culinary delights of Hoi An. We did have lunch there everyday which was not cheap, but the food is delicious and fresh. The portions aren't big either which left you feeling hungry again a few hours later.
As a non smoker, I wasn't a fan of people smoking around you while you ate, then again we need to be mindful that we can't expect to find the smoking ban on a worldwide scale. The gym I only used once, as it wasn't air conditioned. It was 90%/100% humidity so as you can imagine the gym was quite hard work, however the main gym was undergoing refurbishment so this is not something you should normally find. I guess low season is the best and only opportunity for them to carry out a refurbishment.
Overall, we both really loved this resort and would return to it again. It's not for backpackers as it would be a bit of a stretch for their budget, but a great place to use as a base for Hoi An as there are many tours, trips and historical things to see and do. Hoi An is just a place that is not to be missed out in. It's not a big place, but it's like a maze with all it's little lantern lit streets. We had the best of both worlds by having the beautiful resort by day and the charming streets and Vietnamese people of Hoi An by night. Cannot wait to go back!

Palm Garden is a classic 4 star resort. Except they call themselves 5, so the bar is lifted considerably ! As most posters point out, PG is located on a lovely beachfront, and there are lots of nice gardens. It's 8 yrs old so still quite new. Staff a delight, and good standard buffet breakfast. So to the drawbacks....
- Just one pool, and it is uncomfortably warm
- paid for an ocean view room - but couldn't see more than a glimpse of the sea
- no segregation of the smokers in the breakfast area; and they are everywhere
- gym and games area are not air conditioned
- food and drink very expensive and not great quality. Head across the road!
- air conditioning failed to drop temperature lower than 24 degrees. But fan blows a gale.
- layout of resort like a rabbit warren - always walking thru gardens to get fro A to B
- not enough shuttle bus services into town (only 4 per day)
- rooms quite dark
Doesn't change fact that Hoi An and surrounds are amazing - particularly if you set you mind to embracing the charming Vietnamese people and their way of life. Can't wait to go back.

Just returned from a 2 wk tour of Vietnam, we stayed here for 7 nights to recharge our batteries after a full on tour, we were disappointed by the Palm gardens, it was low season so very quiet and no atmosphere just full of bolshy russians!! The beach was deserted and although quiet the staff on the beach couldn`t even be bothered to come and ask if you wanted a drink, there was a yellow flag by the sun lounger which you were meant to wave for service but it was easier to go and get your own as no one took any notice!! The evening entertainment advertised wasn`t on maybe because it was low season, the rooms were dark and depressing with terrible baths which looked hand made, I dreaded going back to the room it was so depressing, this was a de luxe room but not worth the money, you could hear every word spoken next door and our "russian neighbours" moving furniture around at all hours of the night, there was a shuttle bus into town which was neither use to anyone, they ranged from morning until 4pm then nothing inbetween then the next one 8pm then finished so if you wanted to use it you either went at 4pm or 8pm then the last one back was 8.30pm!! This meant getting a taxi there and back which was 14 dollars a night which kind of takes the edge out the words "free shuttle bus".

The hotel was perfectly situated on the beach apart from that it was appalling! I would not stay here again and would not recommend it, it maybe different in high season but there was no atmosphere and nothing to do on an evening apart from go into Hoi An, even the "happy hour" which was 5pm - 7pm had no takers.

I used the spa which was excellent and would recommend anyone to try, the girls who didn`t speak hardly any english gave me a great facial which i must say is one of the best ive ever had.

We were upgraded to a bungalow because they run out of Superior rooms with sea view and that was very nice.

The best of the hotel is the beach with the umbrellas. You'll be almost alone. Just for this it's worth to go. Another good points are the breakfast, the swimming pool and the hotel area itself.

On the other hand, food and drinks are too expensive, the same than tours.

They offer free transfers to the town.

Recommended day in this hotel during hot summer... 6pm go to my son with private car hired in the town. 9pm breakfast in the hotel, beach from 10 to 16, 16 to 20 visit Hoi An town and dinner. Then return to the hotel an go to the swimming pool at night.
