“Great hotel, weather a wash out”
Reviewed 13 December 2013

Internal flights are brilliant, approx 1 hour from Ho Chi Minh City. Be careful internal flights only allow 20kgs luggage, so don't overload. 20 min transfer from airport.
The check in was so easy again and the staff are very helpful. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning. The pool, gardens and beach are fantastic. We stayed for 12 nights at this resort which in hindsight was too long and me and the wife should have moved around a bit more.
However, at least we chose this excellent hotel. The rooms are of a good size and are cleaned to a high standard every day if requested. Tea and coffee are provided daily in the room and even an iron or ironing board on request (if you're fussy). We arrived Nov 18th, 2013, just after Hoi An had suffered 2 metre floods and the town was still recovering. Eating in the hotel is very good and reasonable, especially compared to other hotel prices throughout the world.
The breakfast buffet is very good and evening meals were also very good. Room service was also very reasonable.
The only problem we had was that the weather was a wash out for approx 6 days.
We booked our trips outside the hotel which was a lot cheaper. Went to Myson, which had to seen, but, wasn't too impressed to be honest.
There is a lovely little cheap restaurant just outside the hotel called Mi Casa, run by Chung, who is lovely. You can hire bikes from her for 1 dollar a day, hotel is 6 dollars.
The hotel puts a shuttle bus on to Hoi An but not enough. Taxi is no more than 100,000 dong (approx £3)
Hoi An is quite busy, which we enjoyed, loads of cheap restaurants and bars, loved it
Outside the hotel on the beach, approx 500m, there are a load of cheap beach shacks, food is excellent and very cheap, same with the beer.
Overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone for a stay in the Hoi An area, but, move on a bit more than we did. Still had a great holiday in a great hotel and the weather didn't spoil it.

Room Tip: Beach rooms looked lovely but the weather was so bad it was a waste of time paying extra. All rooms...

Stayed from Nov 17th -24th. Hotel is located on the beach and comprises 2 to 3 story blocks and on the beach, individual bungalows. Grounds are very well maintained and the place has a great look about it.

Reception is a large open area and the service was excellent. Stayed on Room 322 on the 3rd floor with a partial sea view. The hotel and beach were recovering from the typhoon and the beach was "trashed" but after 2 days the beach was cleared and all the debris gone. All of the trees had trusses up and they too disappeared.

Room 322 is rated "Superior Sea View" and I must admit you can just see the sea thru the coconut palms! Our block was about 100 yards from the start of the beach. The room has 2 large queen sized beds, wardrobe with free safe, 3 bed side tables to lay stuff on, 2 comfy seats, a desk/TV stand that contains a mini bar and tea coffee facilities. It also has a rack for cases and shoes. The ceilings are very high and the A/C is very efficient!! Overall the room is reasonably large but has a dark "woody" feel about it. Two very nice touches were a plug in "mossie" killer and free fruit each day.

Toilet has a sink/mirror, toilet and a walk in shower. The verandah has 2 chairs and a table.

The grounds are kept very clean and they are very plesant and spacious. The pool area is excellent with plenty of loungers and umbrellas but we saw the worrying sight of "seat booking" starting as early as 6am!

We were on a breakfast only option and the food was plentiful and of a high quality. You could not complain about that. Everything was continually topped up - there were 2 separate buffet bars - one inside and one outside. We did eat one evening meal there in the "Terrace Cafe" - it was a Vietnamese set meal and it was very good indeed.

The Contino bar has a happy hour from 6-8 where drinks are 2 for 1 - making a beer VD 75,000 + tax ($3.50) and wine is VD 138,000 + tax . A beer round the pool is US 7.00. Sitting on the terrace you overlook reception but it is OK - but it fills up early. The actual bar itself is pretty souless!! There is a band playing some nights and they are not that bad. Across the road beer is VD 21,000 a large bottle and wine is VD 25,000. I did find drinks in the hotel expensive that is why most folks left after happy hour to visist the local restaurants and drink cheaply!!.

There is not that much around the hotel - but there are a few restaurants across the road - all touting for business and much, much cheaper that eating/drinking the the hotel. You can take a leisurely walk into Cua Dai - there is not that much in it but a few shops/bars/restaurants.

Hoi An is 6km away. The hotel does a free shuttle between 10am and 8pm - a total of 4 round trip journeys a day. A local taxi is $5 one way - cheap and gives you more eflexibility than the shuttle.

Hotel facilities include = Terrace Cafe, Contino bar, Wessia Coffee House, Colibri Bar and Restaurant (near the beach), Pool, 2 tennis courts, gym, games area (pool tables and table football) and a sports and rec area on the beach.

Hotel is 5 star but I'd give it 4 - don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with it.

Best thing about it was the very friendly and helpful staff. They were excellent.

Room Tip: Get a high room facng the sea or get a garden bungalow. Everywhere is pretty quiet.

We stayed at this resort for two nights in November in one of the ocean view villas. The grounds are beautiful, nice pool area, great ocean beach and nice ambience at the outdoor restaurant located near the beach. The food was good quality both at the breakfast buffet and evening meal at the beach restaurant. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The only negative feature is the lounge bar. The decor is very outdated and does not match the quality of this resort. Smoking is allowed in bars in Vietnam and this lounge has a very poor ventilation system resulting in a strong smell of tobacco. Note a very pleasant place to be if you are a non smoker. The resort is isolated and you will need to take a taxi into Hoian if you want any lively nightlife.

Room Tip: We received a free upgrade to a villa located on the beach. Very nice location and room!!!!!

Great rooms, great service, great place!!

People are kind and they have a very convenient shuttle. Nice pool and great beach spot.

The tandoori pizza is delicious, and breakfast is very good as well.

Very nice place for a honeymoon or for a family vacation.

This hotel is great! The price is super reasonable, the pool and beach are beautiful. The pool has a large portion that is .8 meters deep, so it is perfect for children 3+. There was construction going on on the other side of the property, so it didn't bother us, but I would have been annoyed to be staying over there. It seemed like they put a conference group over there, so presumably they had a discount. W didn't even realize that there was construction on the property until we walked over to the other side. There are also several reasonable restaurants, cheap spas and convenience stores directly across the street. The rooms are nice and our bed was huge.

Room Tip: Make sure there isn't construction around you.

This hotel is in a very convenient position. We stayed for four nights. One warning it can be very noisy. If budget allows I would chose a villa as the rooms have very thin walls and unfortunately we had very noisy neighbours that chatted or partied until 3AM on two of our four nights. The beach and gardens are beautiful as are the staff. Opposite the hotel is a wonderful little restaurant called The Golden Lotus. It is run by a lovely Vietnamese family. We ate there every lunch time and evening. They are so accommodating and helpful. One day I fancied a chicken omelette. They had not heard of it, I explained what it was and they produced a perfect omelette and made me ginger tea to settle my stomach and it worked. They also did my laundry
for me, we couldn't of asked for more. Please pay them a visit you wont regret it. The taxi into
Hoi An is so cheap we didn't bother with the shuttle. For me Hoi An is best at night it is really pretty down by the river with loads of lights reflecting in the water.

Room Tip: If you are in a normal room I would ask for an upper room, if not upgrade to a villa.

We stayed at the Palm Gardens Resort shortly after it had been evacuated for Typhoon Haiyan and stayed in a deluxe ocean view room. Obviously due to the typhoon, the hotel wasn’t at its best, but it was still a fabulous resort. Every morning the beach was thoroughly cleaned with all the typhoon debris and the staff kept the grounds of the hotel immaculate.
When we were checked in, reception noted that we had 2 60th birthdays during our stay with them and the gentleman said “let me see if I can organize something for you”. As one of the birthdays was that day, we were keen to get out to a nice restaurant to celebrate it. As soon as we got back to the hotel, waiting in the room was the most beautiful cake and a bouquet of red roses. We felt this was a lovely touch and this was repeated for the 2nd 60th birthday a few days later.
The hotel room was lovely, absolute beach front and as we were travelling as a party of 4, the hotel put both couples in the same block, one up, one downstairs. The rooms were absolute beachfront – about 20 footsteps to the beach. If it wasn’t for the typhoon making such a mess of the beach it would have been absolutely breathtaking. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the beds lovely and comfortable.
The breakfast the next morning was fabulous – they seem to have thought of everything you could possibly want – fantastic fresh bread and pastries, asian food, fresh fruit, cheese and cold meets….the list is endless.
The pool was lovely and the best thing about it was if you left your beach towel unattended for longer than an hour, the staff cleared them away. No sunbed hogging!!! Also they pool staff bring round some flags and a lunch menu every day to the pool, so you don’t even have to leave your lounger, just wave your flag and someone will come and bring you what you want. The food was lovely and the drinks ice cold.
Directly over the road from the resort there are a few restaurants which serve very reasonably priced meals which were all delicious. Also some tailors, spas and convenience stores, The hotel is a little isolated, but this is what you get if you want to be next to the beach, but does have several shuttles throughout the day to Hoi An and we normally just got a cab back to the hotel when we were ready to return.
The bar does a happy hour every evening meaning buy one get one free which was a nice way for us to meet up before heading out for the evening. The hotel staff were lovely and always said hello and as mentioned before, they kept the resort spotless. One of our group went to look at the other hotels along the beach and said that we had definitely made the right choice. We would certainly stay at this hotel if we went to Hoi An again.
The only downside, and this is not the hotels fault, but I mention it as I hope the company will take note of this. Ariston held its National Sales Conference at the hotel when we were there and the delegates behavior was appalling! Spitting in and at the side of the pool – not just normal spitting, but huge hacked up lumps of phlegm, where people have to walk and swim. Smoking underneath no smoking signs, making lots of noise everywhere especially round the hotel late at night when people were trying to sleep. Not a good impression of Ariston at all.

Room Tip: Get a Deluxe Beachfront room upstairs
