“Great for a break on busy tour”
Reviewed 24 May 2014

Agree with others that this hotel is ideal for a bit of luxury close to Hoi Ann - It was only $5 cab ride and there is a shuttle from the hotel but very limited times ( the hotel really should ofer a couple more services)
It was very busy when we were there - we had a cheapest room and was huge ( although as expected on the street side of the resort - but was perfect to escape the heat and bustle of Hoi an) Tried to upgrade but no rooms available - there are a lot of nice choices of rooms but any are fine. Pool and beach are a welcome break from the hustle of Vietnam and this place is much better option than staying in DaNan (more luxury hotels but a bit sterile) which is a 20min taxi from Hoi an. Also we crossed the road to the local shops to get some laundry done (by the Kilo ) which was a much better option than the hotel - and the shop owners where great people

Room Tip: If you can get beach front villa do it - but all are large and Air Con works well

Dear Peter M,

Thank you for taking your time on sharing your experience during your recent stay with us. We are delighted to know that you have enjoyed our resort's facilities and felt relaxed regardless of the hotel's busy occupancy at that time.

We are on the process of finalizing an implementation of adding complimentary shuttle trips to and from Hoian town in conjunction with your feedback which will hopefully take effect by next month.

We hope for your return for another relaxing break on your next future trip in Vietnam.

Kind regads,

The Palm Garden Resort team

You were made to feel this was your home away from home. Nothing was ever too much for the staff when you asked a question and management and staff worked as a team. It was one of the best experiences I have had in a hotel around the world and I would highly recommend this resort to anyone. The location is magic. You have a peaceful beach experience and a busy town nearby if needed. It is perfect for couples, groups or families and was a highlight of Vietnam for us.

Room Tip: We always like to be close to beach and wake up to see the beach so liked the rooms in block 500

This hotel is what I had always wanted from a beachside break. It is right out of a romantic story book! The views from all angles are beautiful from front to back. The back faces pristine beaches with clean white sand. The hotel staff are friendly, efficient and absolutely accommodating. The beach, pool and spa are a must. They have pristine and manicured landscaping - a tropical paradise.

This hotel is about a $5 cab ride from Hoi An. It is positioned on the beach. When it is really hot you will be glad to be out of Hoi An and beside the beach. I strongly advise to pay a little extra to have a sea view unit. Ask for a first floor room with a balcony. Th rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The beach outside the hotel is clean but further along on either side it has a lot of rubbish on it. The water is clean and refreshing.
There is a big swimming pool but in hot times the water is like a warm bath. There is also a good gym and games area .WIFI is free and connectivity is good.
We only ate lunch and breakfast at the hotel. I see some reviews say the breakfast was outstanding. They should try the Metropole in Hanoi for outstanding. This was good. The lunches were adequate but comparatively expensive.
We stayed 4 nights and I can recommend the hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. I would say it is an outstanding 4 star but not quite up to 5 star.

My husband and I just stayed at the Palm Garden Resort in Hoi An for 4 nights after spending 2 nights in the old town.
This resort is not only everything you want from a relaxing beach holiday from soft sand to beautiful grounds and pool area but is also very close to the old town with daily shuttles if you want to venture out.
The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful and they went out of their way to meet all of our needs! A great resort, where we had a wonderful time and have come home super relaxed.

Just a few areas that need improving - they need more vegetarian options in the restaurants. My husband is vegetarian and we had to keep going to the old town to eat for more variety and options. Luckily we didn't mind but others may. Also the spa although nice, I had a pedicure there which I wasn't very impressed with.

Other than those two things a beautiful beautiful resort. Would definitely go back!

We stayed for 6 nights for a beach/pool break as part of a longer trip. Despite the mainly isolated comments below, we had pleasant enough stay for what we wanted (i.e. as part of a wider trip - would probably have been disappointed if our holiday was only staying at this resort). It didn't rival our previous experience of a '5 star' resort, although we would say that it's 'good' rather than 'average'.

Would've been happy to pay the inflated airport transfer cost if the 'car' we were told we'd get picked up in was firstly there when we arrived, and secondly one of the resort's Mercedes that other guests (I think who we're on our flight) seemed to get picked up in - rather than the two of us being the only ones in a 14 seat minibus!

Reception staff weren't abrupt or rude, but neither were they welcoming or particularly helpful (we've since moved on to another, lower rated hotel in Hoi An where the reception staff are much friendlier!) - e.g. we would rather have been told on the night we arrived that it was the night of the once a month full moon festival in the town, rather than be told about a tailor who the resort presumably has a deal with. The reception staff service was a shame, as in our correspondence prior to our stay they seemed very helpful.

The other staff (restaurant, pool, grounds, beach etc) where all very welcoming and friendly.

The included breakfast was very good, with a great range of choice and very attentive staff. Additional food and drinks were good and reasonably priced (though the 5% service and 10% tax that is noted on the menus, but not included in the listed price does add up!). There are also plenty of cheaper shops and restaurants opposite the resort.

We stayed in a deluxe room with sea view, which was worth the additional cost from what we could tell. Spacious and well furnished, although the bathroom seemed a bit dated. The air con was also dated - worked well, but had limited speed settings such that even the lowest option meant it was noisy at night (we used ear plugs). Nice view from the balcony, although it was a bit strange how it was only half separated from the room next door. Wifi was very good both in our room and around the resort.

The pool was very nice (never seemed that busy) and the grounds were very well kept. The resort's section of the beach was also well kept, but outside of that it's not that great (not the resort's fault).

On our last night there was a private party on the area outside our balcony (pretty loud, but to be fair it was all over by 10 pm). Obviously much more lucrative to the resort than our stay, but disappointing that we were only told about it on the day (presumably they knew it was happening before then!). To compensate, they put on two more shuttle services to town that night (at times they should probably run them anyway - see below). We also got offered a free massage at the spa, though opted for a couple of cocktail vouchers, but we suspect that we only got this as we were in our room when they rang around an hour into the party starting - i.e. if you'd taken the extra shuttles into town and weren't in your room, you presumably wouldn't have got them!

The shuttle service to and from town was reasonably infrequent and at strange times (relative to our recent experience from a lower rated resort) - 10 am, 1 pm, 4 pm and 8 pm. We were also told by reception that a taxi into town was $6, but when we took one it was closer to $3 - surely not an attempt to keep you at the resort!

Immaculate, beautiful gardens, excellent pool and great staff are a few of the best things about this hotel. Good beach as well, only short stroll from rooms.

The only concern was the amount of stray malnourished cats around and one of the ponds was left without maintenance, which meant all the greay fish were dying.

If the cats were desexed and fed they could actually be a nice addition to the hotel. Instead I and most of the guests just felt sorry for them.
